A lot of these people in the comments sound very sheltered, and have never been in a fight or flight situation. If there are ten stupid drunk kids surrounding you and pushing you into the water, there are two responses. You are either going to fight, or flight. When Miu runs up on the tubes and accosts Jawahn, he is holding up a cell phone in an odd way just in front of himself, and it's reasonable to assume Miu thought that was the phone. He drops his snorkel, is asked again what he's looking for and Ryan Nelson testified then says his snorkel. Miu lied to police and tampered with evidence, but under the circumstances with 13 against 1 to tell a different story, 1 dying, 2 being mortally wounded and another 2 with survivable wounds, I'm not surprised. He was initially found by a nutjob with a baseball bat, held by this man until police arrived, and continued the lie he told the nutjob when he spoke to the police. They did NOT deserve to be stabbed for being stupid. The only thing hurt on the suspect was his pride. The kid is dead and the others are victimized for life. The suspect should of walked away because he is an adult and should of known better. The suspect knew when he pulled that knife that the kids were going to be hurt or killed, it wasn't a proper response It was a deadly response and he knew that. I'm not sure why the parents who allowed the drinking would NOT be charged? It doesn't make sense, someone was assaulted and in defense of that people were killed and seriously injured. The alcohol played a major role in this.

I appreciate that however, he hasn’t been completely honest throughout his testimony. For instance, his memory being better today than the day after it happened to avoid having to admit all their wrongs. I would be far more sympathetic if they exercised honesty.

Not only did the teens taunt him for no real reason, another group joined in and nobody was there to assist him. Whilst the outcome is very tragic, he had a right to defend himself. Nobody else was.
