Apple's USB Accessory Restriction Explained (iOS 12)

Earlier this year Apple introduced a new feature in iOS 11 which played a large security role when it comes to USB accessories. Now in the Passcode menu in the settings app there is a toggle for USB protection which can determine if your device could be subject to brute force hacking via USB or not. In this video we go over everything you need to know about this feature and how it can protect you in the long run.

This is so annoying. Specially when you on harry. How many of you plug in your phone and after 1 or 2 hours you check you phone to see how much percentage of battery you have and you notice that it wasn’t chargering

I have an uncertified charger I just bought because my certified charger broke, after using it for one day, it seemed fine, until I got the message saying “unlock phone to use usb accessories” and after unlocking the charger wouldn’t work and even after I toggled “use usb without password” on. Is there anyway to fix this or am I too late?

I’ve tried EVERYTHING and my iPhone 11 wont connect with USB to my car. The car screen says, “No Music Found”. This is so frustrating.

I disabled it , in settings (Touch ID & Passcode) go all the way down to USB Accessories , if it’s turned off then you should turn on so it wont ask you to unlock it for it to charge.

I tried this on my iPad and it worked… well for a while. My charger is not from the apple store but when I tried another charger which came with my mom’s apple phone my iPad was charging fine The charger I’m currently using (the one not from apple) is working fine cause I tried it on my brother’s iPad and it worked but then after he updated it to iPad OS 14.6 it stopped working I did the steps on your video it worked at first but after a while it stopped

Problem is if your Phone’s charge is depleted you will be locked out. No touch or facial ID because you CAN’T OPEN THE PHONE!!!!! I took mine to a Verizon store it was plugged into charging unit and magically BAM 💥 IT began to charge. The guy thought I was lying or just ignorant. He didn’t know about this safety FEATURE IN11/12 OS.

Please hear me out So i got a macbook from someone and the first time i plugged in my phone it said unlock iphone to use accessories. When i did unlock it nothing happened. No sign of charging or no sign that its plugged in. Meaning i cant see it in the macbook that i have a connected device or nothing. I really need help . Its not the cable or the phone. At least i think. So. Any ideas? I tried resetting the MacBook like when you shut it off and turn it on while holding keys but I dont know please help

Apple added a feature in mac os mohave where we could trim audio in quick look, but mp3 audio could not be trimmed in initial mac os mohave beta. Can you do it now?

So my iPhone is disabled and needs to connect to iTunes but when ever I connect it, it only vibrates. It cannot connect to the computer and it doesn't even charge... I think the usb restriction is turned on. Can you please help

It messes with mophie charging cases! Just found that out at an apple store after a month of my charging case not working properly. Only found out about the toggle while there. Was super confused for so long why my new case could charge itself but not the iphone

Overall is good for our protection, but from my tests idevice running ios 12 is not allowed to go in dfu mode and this is sucks, what’s happened if someone forgot the passcode and is assuming data loss when is recovery from itunes and is not allowed to do the recovery because of this protection? :-?

TechReview your answer is still not pointing my question. Let’s suppose that a child can access his mother phone and insert a passcode, he don’t remember the passcode and the only option to recover the phone is restoring via iTunes in dfu or recovery mode...phone is not going in that mode because the usb protection is on ....
