The fifth generation iPod Nano, with for the first time a built-in videocamera, introduced by Steve Jobs at a Special Music Event ("It's only Rock 'n Roll, but we like it") on september 9, 2009. Steve Jobs is back!!
2022, STILL using this ipod to this day. I never understand why the audience doesn't erupt with amazement when Steve announces this, it's such an underappreciated feature. I used it so much.
I still have this ipod nano 5th. I got as a gift in 2010. Its great. But my charging cable is broken donno What to do and the earphones are broken but the ipod is still perfect as it is.😊
the 5th generation nano was the last true ipod....batery was long, music was loud, and it was small....the new itouch is just a iphone with out hte calling...too big for a mp3 player
The battery was crap on mine. My iPod classic that is two years older holds its battery better than this. Actually I’m amazed it’s 10 years old and still works.
I love you stev Jobs, Thanks For Changing my life, every device you made makes me remember you, the ipod the iphone, the macbook, R.I.P Boss, your the better example to follow. i love all your devices.
I tried the 5g nano in the apple shop and the video is absolutely amazing! I took a video myself on it and the quality is brilliant! I've never seen a video camera take videos that good and the nano is so thin! I really want one but I think i'm getting a phone first!
2023 - and sure, smart phones do everything and fold your socks too . . . but this iPod NANO 5th Gen was the best ever made. Apple 2025 should do a iPod Nano Redux, 20 year Anniversary edition updated slightly bigger 2.4 " 4K retina style screen, stereo microphones and speakers, 24MP HDR camera with steady cam, multiple video resolution saving modes, and special effects overlays, FM, AM, SW, Weather, and Emergency Radio, aRGB user colors selectable light up click wheel, available in 2TB and 4TB with USB 3.2 C connector. Celebrate 20 years of iPod Nano ! 😀
I was about to comment the exact same thing. I've just watched the first iPhone presentation to look for inspiration on doing a project and I've followed it up with this one. His change is frightening...
i used to have one of these baby's before now 2012... iPod touch 5th generation which i have now i got for Christmas 1080p video recording 5 Mega pixel camera with flash, microphone, upload videos to RU-vid just like the apple ipod nano 5th generation but more smarter and more modern. apple did change everything who people love music especially for me, i love my ipod touch 5th generation.
Best pocket product they ever made... Apple should do a retro of the nano and click wheel ipods... with 1 TB for the 5th Nano ipod redux, and 2 TB of storage for iPod 7th Gen redux.
even though it's 2016, I purchased this nano today for $20, in amazing condition. I really don't like the new nano that is being sold by apple, so I purchased the last nano to keep the old design with the click wheel.
i remember when i asked my parents for one of these and they were like "the ipod touch is $50 more...and it does a lot more than that hunk of junk. you sure you still want it?"
I really miss the thunder applause when he said " a built in videocamera", its just terrifing silence like if no one likes it, I almost feel bad for steve jobs... like if he stoped for an aplause that never came... until IPHONE 4
Even with the click wheel this remains the best looking iPod Nano to date. No ugly overdone border, no odd colors. Why's can't the new iPhone 5c's or Nano's etc use real color like these? Much better than bug gut green. I like a touch screen on a phone or iPod touch, do I really care for a small music player? Not really. If I wanted a nano today I would go online and buy this.
Nobody really understood what this update was for. Everyone already had a camera in their phone, most of them better than the one built into the nano. Just one year later, they scrapped the camera again.
In best buy they try to make me buy the 6g nano and I say I want the 5g nano and they ask me "why?" it almost makes me cry when I say it "I only trust the ones Steve made," rest in peace Steve Jobs he always lived life to the Macs :(
