This is the second video in the AppleScript Numbers series. In this video we'll complete the project we started previously. We'll use Script Editor to create a custom AppleScript that takes a folder full of files and enters information about the files into a Numbers spreadsheet.

Fantastic set of tutorials, many thanks. You show some very good practices in how to cleanly and clearly structure a script and breakdown the support handlers. Your error function to state where an error was encountered is a great idea as sometimes, often, it can be hard to pinpoint. I guess the next step could be reading from one numbers sheet, doing some transformation and then writing it back out; building up a script library and calling it would also be great, and if I may, maybe a discussion on idle handlers and activating a script by a checkbox? I am curious on what would be a good way to implement that, so it doesn’t clash with other possible on idles. I hope this make sense : D Of course, I wouldn’t dream of imposing on you, but as you asked for some suggestions, this is what came to mind as a logical extension of what you have presented. Many thanks for the education and effort - chapeau!!

Hey T Murphy, thanks so much for your comment. Part of why I’ve been building the handlers out the way I have is I was anticipating doing a video about creating a library, and showing how easy it would be to take those existing handlers and converting them into a working library. I truly appreciate the thought you’ve put into your suggestions. Thanks again!

Hello Jared. This video shows many of the concepts covered in my previous learning to AppleScript series. It takes many of those individual concepts and shows them in practice in an actual project. Yes, this is not likely a script you would write for yourself and use in some way, but it wasn’t intended to be. My channel is about learning to AppleScript and this video is just more exposure to what is possible and how to write scripts. I hope this explanation helps explain things a bit more clearly.
