Hey Apollo, cron jobs are technically deprecated in macOS, but launchd does the same thing and is a suitable replacement. I will likely do a video on launchd at some point. There are pros and cons to both launchd and running the script as an idle handler. Most notably, as a script with an idle handler you’re able to quit it more easily if you want to for some reason. But either will work, it’s sort of personal preference.
