I applied it for mines last week. I just needed to sign some papers from the courthouse, get a photo from CVS for a passport, my birth certificate, photo ID or driver license and have two separate money orders or check, they won't let you use cash or debit card. I'm from Alabama so have to wait either 8-13 weeks or the expedited one that is 60 dollars more that is 5-7 weeks. Of course I chose the 5-7 week because I'm going out the country in August.

Just so people are aware: The cost of the passport has gone up since this video as has the forecasted wait time. It’s currently $130 for the book, $30 for the optional card, plus $35 acceptance fee. The $35 goes to the place you go to in person to, the remaining fees go to the U.S. State Department. Also, the current wait time is forecast as 8-11 weeks, but they are currently running about 8 weeks, if not a little less. I fully recommend getting the card if you have not upgraded your state ID to Real ID standards. The card is Real ID compliant for when the new ID requirements for domestic air travel and government buildings finally kick in next year.

@@wuzzap1233 Add the expedited fee the Passport money order. Do not make out a separate money order for Expedited as all fees minus the acceptance fee need to be on one money order. Thank you! I just recently got mine after 1 month of waiting and didn’t have to pay for expedited service. The employees commended me for having everything ready on my appointment. For those who are watching and reading some comments, take your time to understand and prepare everything. I can guarantee you that it will all go smooth for as long as you have everything ready and prepared.

This is actually great timing for me. My daughter and I are about to apply for our first passports, and this was a great walk through of how we'll need to do it, without making beginner errors. Thanks Maneesha. This is my experience: I live in the City so i had to do a bit of a maneuvering to get an early two (2) day appointment at this post office (45mins drive away but worth it). Smooth, easy and very professional service. I applied on 4/28/2022 Passport card arrived on 5/19/2022 Passport arrived on 5/21/2022 (exactly 3weeks). I used the expedited service. Thanks.

No fluff, straight to the point. Thanks for the walkthrough! Hoping to get my first passport in as short of a time as possible. Also in NYC. I think my only option is to wake up early and call the Passport Agency for an urgent travel appointment.

You can only get urgent service if you have proof of travel. Expedited is running at 3 to 5 weeks as of now.

The appointments are so backed up where I live. I had no choice but to do a walk in at one location that was the only one available within a 50 mile radius. When I got there the line was all the way out the door. Literally. I sat in line for 6+ hours. While in line I was talking to the people in line and they informed how they had appointments at different locations but they canceled on them smh. But thank you for all the information. This helped me so much. The guy at the window was happy how I came prepared. I took my photo at walgreens. I paid $649 for me, my wife, and my 9 year old son. I was able to pay for everything with a debit card. I got expedited for all three of us with standard shipping. But the expedited is 5 to 7 weeks.

Thank you for this and other informative videos. I got naturalized in May 2021 and applied for passport and passport card on expedited service Oct 22. I mentioned I intended to travel in 8 weeks. It got approved/issued/printed on Nov 19 and delivered on Nov 25. I still haven't got my Passport Card and Original Natrualization Cert but they must be on the way in separate mails. The only negative is the their status page. I gave my email and phone number for notifications on status changes but got nothing at any stage. I had to fill the status page every time and track status. It only had 3 status changes - accepted, processing, approved. Even USCIS tracking system is way better, detailed and used to send me text/email messages. Also, it would be nice if they gave USPS tracking details once approved. Thanks again for helping other immigrants and citizens.

@@davisdillingham2059 Hi Davis - Going to make a quick video on this today. Since first time passports have to be applied for in person, it's a little hard right now. While you can still apply (if you can even find a post office that is accepting applications - many are not), Department of State is recommending waiting unless you need to travel for emergency reasons. So I'd wait a few weeks and then check again.

Was skeptical because of the reviews but I got my Texas fake in about 3 weeks. It came quadruple packaged and was tucked inside of a wallet. As far as I can tell it looks great. Micro-printing is spot on and it passes the bend test. Am so happy just got a passport and i use it to travel with out any problem thanks +1 402 782 1269

A tip, if you dont wanna send in your original birth certificate because of sentimental reasons, you can get a copy from your town or county government for fairly cheap. My town charges just $5 to print one off.

@@user-tu3ux9eo8c the check goes to US Department of State. It has to be attached with your application form. So, you have to give it to the acceptance agent at the USPS so that they will attached together with your documents.

I’m so happy!! I got it in exactly 3 weeks!! I’m in NJ and paid for expedited service and shipping on July 15th, and received it today on August 5th. I wanted it for my vacation on the 20th but I moved it to September anyway. Oh well! :)

Got my done without a problem. Just go to CVS or Walgreens to get your picture taken. Was in and out in less than 5 minutes and talking to the passport guy was around 10 minutes. Took a few checks as back up but didn't need them. You are the best!!! 4/27/2023

I was born in the US. Just applied for my first passport ever and choose standard delivery since I am not traveling until May 2022. The whole process was fast. I had everything filled out. Some post offices will also do the photo for you for $15. Mine did and i choose to do it there. I just choose the small book as I dont do a lot of international travel. Just have a trip I have been dreaming of and needed one.

I was born an American citizen, 20 years old, and I still don't have a passport lol. To be fair I never felt the need to have one since this country is so big and has pretty much all kinds of climates, terrain, even different laws and etc but I'd love to travel outside the country soon so thanks so much for this great video!

True but there's no substitute for experiencing a foreign country. You can also visit destinations like Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam or Samoa without a passport. It's also easier to travel to Mexico and Canada. You can get a passport card to visit those countries by land or sea for much cheaper than a passport book

Your mind will change once you start traveling abroad. Europe alone has completely different cultures, and languages all within hour or two drive. I agree this country is big and diverse. I do wish train travel was more accessible/cheaper. Have a good day!

It should be noted that many passport centers, including post offices, can also do the photos as well, you just need to select the photo option when booking your appointment. In these days of Covid skipping going to someplace else to get the photos first might make it worth it to do everything at once.

@@chrystalestoquia3753 At some but not all post offices you can get your passport photo too though you will need to indicate that you need a photo when you make your reservation.

Update: Timelines are now 10-13 weeks for routine; 7-9 weeks for expedited if you applied after March 24, 2023. Previous timelines of 8-11 weeks for routine; 5-7 weeks for expedited are still applicable if applied from Feb 6, 2023 - March 23, 2023.

So if we lets say are going in Friday expedited will be back to normal???? Just nervous doing at this and also my ID doesnt have my current address on it as we just moved this wont be an issue will it? Or do they just need it as proof what state im from?

@@sadeoyates2112 If you have an out of state ID then you would need secondary documentation. If you have an in state ID then that should be fine but bring secondary proof of id. Though I do recommend going to the DMV and getting a new card to your current address. If you were to go on Friday it would be 7-9 weeks but you can get an appointment 2 weeks before your travel if you have proof. There is even life or death for immediate family if you have such a need. Life or death also requires proofs of travel and the appropriate records.

@@isabelasoaresferreira9375 Yes 13 weeks is the timeline for standard but your mileage may vary as some on reddit have been getting it quicker but those are the extreme minority. Go with the standard timeline but you can always get it expedited or add it later. Do not add expedited until it is too late.

I paid the extra fee to expedite it and I received them exactly 14 days days later. I requested both the book and the card. I think I used the regular shipping option.
