I am now doing my prerequisites to become a dental hygienist. I’m really excited about the career, but due to having chronic depression in my teenage years, I could not perform self care tasks like brushing my teeth. I now have periodontitis. I feel like no one will want to hire me because they will think I either don’t know how to take care of teeth, or that I will be a bad image for their business. I feel very ashamed for it.
don't feel ashamed! you are ALL good!!! and I have a video all about that which should definitely help make you feel better! hope this helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZr0dqWaBy0.html
Do you know of anyone body that is currently or was a dental hygienist and also went to Dental School. I am currently pre dental and I am hoping to get into the dental Hygiene program. So I want to become a hygienist first and if I like that I want to go to Dental School, but I was wondering what are peoples opinions on balance and how possible it is to be a Dental Hygienist and go to Dental School at the same timel?!? Any advice would help. Thanks in advance
Thank you!!! I've been a mom since I was 16 and have fully revolved my life around being a mom for over 16 years now. My youngest and last baby will be starting pre-k at the end of 2024, so I'll have more freedom to focus on improving my career and education. 🎉 I never graduated HS, so I'm starting from the very bottom with needing to get my HSED first. My end goal is to become a RDH ❤ I'm researching and learning as much as possible to make it there! I really appreciate all of your informative content 😊 I already memorized teeth numbers and what each surface is called and where it's located on the tooth thanks to your videos!! I've also memorized the 3 numbering systems and how to read them 🤗 Thank you so much again ❤ You're awesome!!
Thank you for all these videos. I've been interested in becoming a dental hygienist. I wish everyone else the best of luck as well and may God be with all of you.
i love your videos, currently i am in school getting my a.s. in general studies in order to transfer to a 4 year however i am considering becoming a dental hygienist and i was wondering what if i graduate with a.s. degree in general studies would i then apply to a aas in dental hygiene or would just go straight to a bachelors? i am confused because i dont know what route to go because i am already on track with a as degree
I would totally recommend talking with your school's guidance counselor - for each school and program differs and varies. Until then - here is my page all about the different degrees/schooling/options that might help with some background knowledge: teethtalkgirl.com/rdh Wishing you the best!
Your videos are awesome. Thought to give you an interesting idea which will definitely have a huge response among Ur community. How about teeth dreams:), different teeth dreams and what they mean. Go ahead dear Whitney.
Teeth Talk Girl • 1 second ago it depends on the school and program! for your second question, however, generally the prerequisites can be from any school. always check the program's requirements of which you're applying to confirm. also - I have a page on my website all about the different schooling routes and options. hope this helps: teethtalkgirl.com
Can I continue my dental education after I get my associates degree and apply to get my bachelors and then my master’s in dentistry? What happens if you fail some classes at your community college dental hygiene or ever at a 4 year dental school would they make drop out of the class or school? Should I get all of my pre required class before I apply to a community college dental hygienist program?
Hello, do you know if it is significant to get a B or higher in chemistry for your pre requisites? I am going to school to become a dental hygienist but i currently have a C and i don’t think my grade will get any better. Thank you!
I’m trying to find information on people who went to hygienist school then went on to dental school, but I can’t find anything. I felt like it would be clever so that way a person can do hygienist work while in dental school that way they could really gain a unique experience from the craft and have a job. Do people really do this though?
YES! I had an instructor in college who did that! It's not unheard of!! She was a dental hygienist first and now a dentist! Sending you all the positive vibes your way! OHHH another awesome one is @drjessicaemery on IG :) :)
@@TeethTalk Omg really? Yeah I was beginning to think it would be a huge waste of time, but it’s reassuring to hear this. You see, COVID has really thrown a monkey wrench in my application plans where I can’t really shadow or take the DAT and so I decided not to apply this application cycle; that’s why I’m considering this route instead. Anyways thanks for reaching out!
If you have already have a Bachelor’s Degree in another field and have taken majority of the Pre Reqs. Will you still have to retake it to apply to dental hygiene school ? It’s been 9 years since I took the classes .
This was pretty helpful but I’m only 12 and it won’t come in use for a while but it is good to learn early. I loved this video as I do all of your videos. Your amazing! PIECE, LOVE, happy TEETH ✌🏻❤️😁🦷
I like your ear rings today, It’s really cool. I subscribed and watched almost your videos of your channel. I’m interested in dental 🦷 hygienist. Thanks for your channel’s information 🥰❤️🥰
I'm in dental assisting school (graduate in October) and plan to go to Carrington college after a year in the field. They require you to have dental experience!! They also teach all your pre rec's there so no need to get them done first! I'm so excited to move on in a career Im actually excited about. I watch all your videos because they give me such a heads up into the field!!!
love the way u share everything so clearly, i just wanted to know can a registered dental hygienist go to dental school directly without repeating those 4 years before entering to a affiliated dental school?
thank you so much!!! and not unless the RDH took all of the prerequisite courses for the intended dental school (which involves taking more classes than the required classes in dental hygiene school) ...plus the DAT (dental admissions test). So, it is possible if you prepare ahead of time to do it by taking the extra classes (and most dental schools also require a bachelors) and preparing for the DAT ...but it won't be possible if the RDH doesn't take the extra courses, get a bachelors, and prepare for the entrance exam. Hope this helps!
I'm a gp professional dentist in Egypt I wanna know the prerequisites exactly to work as a dental hygienist in uk Cause mgdf is too high in cost for me Anyone help ?
I'm taking my last two prerequisite classes this fall and i should be graduating by 2021. Long overdo. I'm just ready to have my career and do a job that i love and not just work for money. Dead end jobs are the worst.
How many pre req classes would need to be taken before actually being able to get into dental hygiene school ? People online make it all sound too easy saying “it’s just an associates” and “it’s only 2 years to get a degree” which may be true but I don’t think they are accounting for all the ore reqs before you even get to that point. Am I correct about this ?
I’m a freshman in college, should I do DA before DH or would they both take the same amount of time ? If so which should I lean towards. They both interest me :)
I'm in dental hygiene school now and you do not need to be a dental assistant first at all! DH school will teach you everything you need. At my school, plenty of the girls weren't assistants first and they are doing great!
most states do not require it - but some do! here is my video with more information about that! hope this helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wf--xsAVqSk.html
So say I’m in school for dental assistant now those classes are they prerequisites for becoming a dentist or completely different. Not sure if you have the answer to that question
GO FOR IT GIRLLL!! I am now getting a bachelor's degree in accounting and a minor in psychology, but once I get my bachelor's I will go to a dental hygiene program to become a RDH... It's totally worth it because if you get tired of one career you can switch :) It's better to have many options than just having one
Hi I have a little bit of tartar on my teeth and am scheduled for a mechanical tartar scrapping in 2 days. I am only 13 and have a real fear of the dentist! Do you have any advice on what not to do and what to do before, during and after this procedure please?
You will do great! Mechanical tartar scraping is a super straight forward procedure. I plan to make a video all about fear and dental anxiety soon! The main takeaway message will be to inform the dentist about your fear so they are aware! But until then, here is my video about how to prepare for your dental appt: teethtalkgirl.com/videos/dental-appointment-prepare?rq=prepare
Well guess dental assistant is off of my list.... can’t do more years in college. I got kids and I need to start working soon. I can’t leave my kids alone all day. Warehouse work it is!
this video discussed the differences between dental school and dental hygiene school - not dental assisting school. often times, dental assisting programs are shorter and offer even more part-time options. hope this helps! wishing you the best!
yep! every school is different - some require you to take your prerequisites prior to applying to the DH program - but some (especially 4-year bachelors degrees) you can apply to right out of HS.
