Zakynthos International Airport "Dionysios Solomos" (IATA: ZTH, ICAO: LGZA).
The airport opened in 1972. The airport is 4.3 km from Zante and other seaside tourist destinations such as Lagana, Tsilivi and Kalamaki.
The main approach into the airport is Runway 34, meaning aircraft have to fly over Lagana bay and make a 180-degree turn, before flying over sunbathing tourists on the busy Kalamaki beach.
In this film we will land on runway 34.
Actual ATC is used for this film.

This is my favourite video on RU-vid. I go Zakynthos every year on holiday bar 2020. Heres to normal life back this year hopefully and September this will be my view as a passenger again.

As a pilot I am always happy with the summer season. We fly to airports that are different in approach and departure. Early turns above water and land are for us just things we like to do! :-)

Super video weer! Ik zou nog wel graag een landing of take-off vanaf luchthaven Groningen willen zien ;) Ik ben/was zelf helemaal geen held met vliegen, maar vind het bijzonder interessant! Mede dankzij deze filmpjes is mijn vliegangst sterk verminderd of zelfs bijna niet meer aanwezig. Groeten, Jeffrey.

+jeffrey haitsma super om te horen dat je vliegangst middels dit soort filmpjes is verminderd! Groningen kom ik niet vaak. Maar ik zal eens kijken of ik daar een goede opname voor je kan maken... Beautiful, same approach for us in August, the views are amazing! I was wondering if there is a size limit of planes to land/take off from Zante as I think I only saw 737's. The runway felt pretty short and was one hell of a fast take off 😁

I can't give you a answer, simply because I don't know. Runway length, strength and aircraft weight are limiting. So bigger aircraft can probably land there... but can't take everything (cargo/bags etc) with them.... so not practical.

which part did you stay in ? if it was Laganas thats for young ones lik 17 year olds to middle 20 year olds half naked getting drunk being loud...am 31..i went to greece last month i chosen tsilivi which was good because it was not full of kids getting drunk it was more peaceful but not boring

With a landing distance available of 2027m you are right. We want to land the aircraft in the touchdown zone! I am looking forward to this summer already. It's nice to have these destinations!

Question, did you recycle the FD’s? And why if the FMC has a 3deg glide path on it, the FD guidance should be good isn’t it?

Mooie video. Is er een reden dat er om <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="125">2:05</a> bij Flaps 5 het landingsgestel al uit gaat ? Ik dacht uit je vorige video's te zien dat het bij Flaps 15 gaat.

Goed opgemerkt. Het landingsgestel is deze keer eerder naar beneden gedaan om snelheid te minderen.

Fraaie video wederom! Was daar ook in dezelfde maand als de upload van deze video. (Met een HV-vlucht uiteraard :D) Mooie start meegemaakt op de terugweg. Leek alsof we uit de startblokken schoten. Houd je op zo'n korte baan als deze aan het begin even de remmen vast om de motoren wat kracht op te laten bouwen?

Soms houden we inderdaad de remmen vast. Zeker op korte banen met weinig marge. Op die manier heb je gelijk de berekende thrust vanaf het begin van de takeoff roll.

@@mightymkl Is er ook nog een aparte term voor die handeling? In de racewereld wordt het bijvoorbeeld brakeboosting genoemd (rem + gas ingedrukt tijdens rijden zodat turbo druk kan opbouwen)

Ik vind deze approach altijd de beste, je draait linksom het eiland en dan via het schildpadden eiland (Marathonisi) en dan zo over Lagana beach... zwijmel Αγαπώ την Ελλάδα τόσο πολύ !!!

It is a non-precision approach with higher minima. (No ILS).

Has to do with the direction of the runway... Runway 34 is probably close to 340 degrees... Runway 1 (01) is 010 degrees. It's like a circle which has 360 degrees... Depending on the direction the divide it by 10.
