Easily one of the coolest shaped body for a stringed instrument ive ever seen. How your mind conceived of such an idea and then how you managed to phsyically do are both completely beyond me. Awesome awesome awesome! So glad you shared this
Love the “bracket to two chamber” design. Wicked cool idea Henry! Really creative use of traditional principles! You ever try dropping piezo mics in the chambers? Adding some kinda blend circuit?
Thank You ! Yes indeed the backs of the pods are removable so it is super easy and there are piezos on the bass pod of each instrument with its own jack . I should continue the thread and make the jack stereo and put piezos in the treble pod as well ! After all long ago keeping both sides so separated
And finishing oops ! That keeping the separation creates a stereo effect ! You could record with bass pod and treble pod with their own piezos hard panned !
Yes it sometimes called angle iron? Steel stock that comes shaped like an L . Cut with a hack saw and files to have a slot at each end to attach to each pod top with about 1/4 inch movement back and fourth for intonation . Made back in the 1990’s and I still have some unfinished ones !
I forgot to say that part! So the rosewood backs come off of each pod with stainless screws and inside the pods are attached to the arms of the Purple Heart tuning fork with 1/4 inch lag bolts . These things can be completely disassembled and put back together again ! The mid 90’s were a very creative time and I had a cool little shop !
@@enidsnarb Fascinating instrument and design concept. I tinker a bit myself, and would love to hear you talk the instrument's history and how you came up with the idea. It's got my brain racing already Did you ever consider maintaining the separation of the tuning fork tines by having a two part bridge, with each half resting on a different pod? (The pods only need to be a small distance apart to uncouple them physically, leaving only sympathetic vibrations being shared?)
