I had a very similar reaction. Been a firm believer in Aptera since discovering them beginning of last year and haven’t looked back. I believe the future of transportation is at their fingertips. Therefore, when learning that the Aptera LE would initially compromise on speed of charging, I was beginning to realize that the freedom I was dreaming of would at least initially be somewhat constrained. I gotta admit…. I felt a bit disenchanted over the weekend. Then this morning Chris and Steve decided to reassure us with their video, confirming they are indeed pioneering engineers, wise philosophers and passionate believers in their humble but ambitious mission, and as such, would recognize when a natural and obligatory course correction was imperative. Aptera is being noticed, and with the standard in the US being DCFC they had to recognize they needed to return to the edge of the cutting blade where they belong… and we are ever so glad they did!🤩🤩🤩

We played one or two rounds PUBG mobile on our ipad pros and I have an unlimited plan card in a wifi router with car adapter. Also we ate, used the rest room. Explored the surrounding. Joining the Tesla supercharger network was the semi-final missing piece that takes Aptera from a "hopeful" to an almost "Sure Bet" to becoming a car choice people will gladly purchase. Now all that remains is "production hell." Can Aptera scale up to volume production with reduced per unit costs?

2:07 You hit the nail on the head right here. Break out the marshmallows because if you read between the lines of what they were saying in their update recently... the car has effectively zero thermal management. There is no skin cooling.. there are no serious vents at all. This is going to make air conditioning a challenge much less high speed charging. I've been following them on this issue since 2009 when the vehicle failed on the track because of it. This vehicle is effectively no different from the vehicle that failed due to heat issues in 2009, and that' s a problem. So it's good that you have held their feet to the fire over this but it's a case of be careful what you wish for. They will turn this into an excuse to delay production. Mark my words on that. They have already stated that if they started NOW, that the vehicle wouldn't begin production until October with the first vehicles rolling off any assembly line to be yet built... in early 2024. So my advice to you is not to let go of the thermal management issue and be damn sure they actually DEMONSTRATE their air conditioning. So NOT allow them to settle for terms like "Will have". At this stage in the game they must start to actually demonstrate at least the elements that show core competency to even produce the vehicle at all in the current configuration. That being without vents.
@a5-30-31cts
@a5-30-31cts Год назад
There is an incoming vent at the base of the front windshield and a screened exhaust vent at the back.
@twelvewingproductions7508
@twelvewingproductions7508 Год назад
@@a5-30-31cts A couple two inch by 3 inch vents at the back and a non forced vent at the front isn't going to cut it. For reference, I direct you to their original vehicle that actually did have a roof vent and I think a chin vent and it still overheated. Also, we are just talking about battery components. We haven't even touched on the air con yet.

As an early investor in Aptera and reservation holder X's 3 to maybe replace our 3 Chevy Volts I was a bit disappointed in the launch production. Is the Volt a bit of a dinosaur? Ya, maybe but after buying a new one in '13 ( that now has 135K reliable and more importantly, useful and effective miles on it, we decided to buy a couple more used ones. We have managed just fine with it's archaic charging speeds, etc. and would have probably been fine with A/C only on an Aptera - though I applaud the decision to go with DC now For me what may still be a deal breaker is the horrendous blind spot created by a big fat A pillar ( as in the Volt) compounded in the Aptera with that Ugly fat black strip across the side windows I've lost count of haw many times I've nearly had a catastrophe from this serious design safety flaw. So please don't waste your time explaining roll over strength, etc. - it always is a monetary decision in the end.

They all must help and contribute to the the further development of the Supercharging station. that goes for building, maintenance, and all that. Yes - in the first LE (no-DCFC) announcement, Steve alluded to thermal management as an issue. But in the 2nd (yes- DCFC), there was no mention of it. Early Battery team videos showed liquid based active cooling of the pack, but it's unclear how the heated coolant is radiated (supposedly via "skin cooling"). If skin cooling is not yet feasible at least small radiators with fans could be mounted at the tail near the back vents? I'm curious about up-coming Delta tests of both aggressive acceleration, and DCFC cycles's effect on pack heat and any degradation. In the meantime, we owners should avoid heavy discharge (take it easy) and charge (40kw max) as much as possible.

@jonj9149
@jonj9149 Год назад
Imagination not necessary when actual studies and research have been conducted. When a vehicle is constructed with lightweight materials, it leads to a reduction in fatalities per vehicle mile traveled. This is due in part to the properties of less stiff materials, such as plastic, which can prevent injury and save lives when used in the crumple zone. Plastic composite structures in the front end of a vehicle can lightweight without compromising safety. Fiber-reinforced polymer composite materials weigh around 50 percent less than steel, but are characterized by a higher absorption of crush energy per kilogram. On impact, carbon fibers can have four to five times higher energy absorption than steel or aluminum. This leads to the structure crushing in a relatively gradual, predictable way that absorbs much of the impact energy, keeping it away from the occupants and improving safety.
@NasaRacer
@NasaRacer Год назад
There are real reasons why they designed this as a three wheel vehicle. There is no way they would meet range and efficiency goals if this was a much heavier four wheel vehicle that had to meet all the federally mandated safety standards. That is fine if you understand the risks associated with this type of vehicle. But I picture future owners dying in one of these and their family asking why it didn’t meet the safety standards of any modern four wheel vehicle. Agree to disagree.
