Aptera: More Aerodynamic Than F-150 Mirror!? 

When I was a kid in grade 5, I thought, "Why don't they shape cars like a bird's wing so they would be more aerodynamic?" That was in the '70s. So glad I lived to see one.

I feel like this car is the 21st Century Miata. It's light, fun, two seats, and affordable. I love it!

As a German, I appreciate the maximum efficiency approach. So many energy wasters out there these days. Especially SUVs. This is the perfect commute car. Would buy it 100%. Getting free and clean juice while the car parks at work and then getting home in the best economy you can get. With style and comfort. Incredible.

Welcome back Aptera. We missed you, and the world needs you.

There seems to be an incredible ecosystem coming into existence centered around modern engineering, electricity and a paradigm shift away from internal combustion. At the forefront of that shift we find companies like Tesla, new startups like Aptera and the Yoda of modern lean design, Munro and Assoc. On top of all that, we get to witness, in real time, the changing of the guard, the revolution is being televised and I feel so incredibly lucky to be here to see it.

awesome to see that somebody is finally pushing an *efficient* vehicle. for "normal" cars, adding solar barely makes a difference, they just need so much energy. for this, it's perfect.

This design really resonates with me. This is taking a "less is more" approach to a whole new level and achieving otherwise nearly impossible feats in the process. This is very exciting stuff!

Yo Sandy! With all due respect to those youngsters in their 70s, my wife will soon turn 83. Fully retired, she still works 60-80 hours a week as a volunteer VP & board member coordinating rescues, fosters, transports and adoptions in 18 states for the nation's oldest and largest Dalmatian rescue organization. She is absolutely head over heels for an Aptera. She's more excited about this 3 wheeler than any car we've ever owned or even contemplated. Loves the fact that they offer an optional Pet Kit which includes pet steps, a pet divider, a water bowl, bags and a rear cover!!! Like you, I can't wait to lead foot an Aptera. Hoping to be the first tackle the Tail of the Dragon's 318 curves within 11 miles in an Aptera.

The Aptera is such a lovely example of engineering spiral optimization. More aerodynamic allows less batteries which means less weight, requires less energy, so easier to cool,...

Sandy, I really think that the person who came up with putting you on RU-vid deserves a raise, or at least a bonus. Before the public became aware of your company, (while I had heard of it, [I was disappointed about the Paradigm airplane not reaching production]}, many others had not heard of you. I believe that the exposure, and especially your competence and experience, helped bring you all of these three-wheeled vehicle startups. Here in Oregon, we are proud to follow Acrimoto, but they turned to you for help after they had working prototypes. I think they would have come to you sooner, if only they had known about you earlier. The same with Nobe, they came all the way from Estonia AFTER they heard about you. Again, they had a working prototype before they arrived. So, yeah, thank that person who talked you into RU-vid, he/she deserves it, big time. And now, here comes Aptera, reintroducing a three-wheeled electric vehicle after years of wanting. With these guys, try to talk them into at least a four-seater. Unless you live alone ar are a just-married couple, almost no one drives two-seaters. My apologies to Corvette owners, but, at heart, it's true. To be competitive, you need more seats. Anyway, good luck in your future, and may many more customers cross your door sill.

Worked for Hewlett-Packard set up many sub assembly lines ,Desk Jet printer's, this is how you stream line production, sub assembly makes all the difference.

Wow, wow, just super impressed with Aptera. I think the have a total winner of a vehicle and will definitely have trouble keeping production equivalent to demand.

It seems to have a great marketing potential in Israel. In spite of little to no infrastructure for electric vehicles in my country, I am seeing Tesla cars for the first time. With low power consumption and lots of sunshine hours even in many days in winter, the Aptera will feel at home and become a common sight. Your awareness to power efficiency, aerodynamics, and cost of production will hopefully make this project a success. Though I don't know what are the current legislations regarding three-wheelers in my country, this vehicle has a great potential.

Using the 1970s Morelli designed perfect low drag body in ground effect surprisingly made quite a beautiful car.

OK, skin cooling is awesome, interior screens to replace wing mirrors are great, powering from solar panels is def 21st century, 4-piece body assemblies are beyond futuristic, in-wheel motors are highly advanced technology, BUT, let's get down to what is totally the most important thing to certain interested buyers: can you fit an acoustic contrabass inside this car? :-)

What about clearance on those wheel "pants", they appear to be a problem with both parking bumpers and drain dips going into parking lots! How do you change the tires? How do you avoid road hazards with three wheels?

Car like this is a PERFECT fit for solar glass with that huge back window. And I know those guys are coming to market right away too. I bet it would add close to 200 watts of charging to the system. Heck with what is going on with thin film solar applications today is won't be long before wrapping a car is a thing.

What gets lost in the "self charging" concept is that regardless of winter/clouds etc the PV panels allow you to plug in once per week rather than every night. . . .

I hope the Aptera people see this comment. THIS WOULD BE THE PERFECT TOW BEHIND AN RV VEHICLE! It could self charge when braking (while being towed) and receive charge from the sun! Please consider making this flat towable. Good luck!

I was never much of a car person, but there is a lot of interesting things happening in the automotive world with electric drive, solar energy, and autonomy. Aptera is my new "gotta have one" vehicle. It's very Tesla-like inside which is a huge plus for me.

This is what a Colin Chapman electric Lotus would look like. Simplify and add lightness.

would love the rear or side cameras to automatically start recording when someone or a car gets within a few side inches or foot or two in the rear. Any accidents like side swipes or rear ending can be recorded or saved before the automatic discard and rewriting. I love when the brake light blinks the first time the brakes are pressed it makes people notice a stop.
