Courtnie Bye the fish don’t actually see each other because of the frosted panels! But I absolutely hate this tank it killed two of my Bettas I’ve switched them to much larger tanks since then
@@eileenmcdonald3162 Actually, while a betta can survive in a small bowl, it's really not good for them. It's something that pet stores will tell you to encourage you to buy more fish. They also often say betta live for about 1-2 years.
At first I was disappointed you going to review this fish death trap, but as I watch I am glad you were objective and honest. This item need to not be advertised for betta or any other fish
Thank you! I noticed that if I am negative about a product right away, people who want to buy it..just click off and don't finish watching. My new approach is that I try to be positive and as fair as possible while I critique it. I did almost rage at the instructions lol Its hard not to get mad and stay neutral.
Creative Pet Keeping you doing good job if I was good at presentation like you I would have made a channel. I just feel strongly about abuse of all life .
Small aquariums trigger my anxiety, I think it because of the 2014 fish community when it was mainly 14 year olds attacking each other on betta fish aquarium size. Anyways a lot of the younger fish RU-vidrs now who have a large following use these terrible aquariums and more and more people are buying these aquariums 😞.
I can totally relate. I hope that my video makes a small difference in helping to educate people. All we can do is make inspirational videos with awesome tanks to help people realize that they can do so much more with a tank then they could with the betta falls.
janis crittendon yes!! Bettas should always have a heater! But maybe think of a bigger tank? If it's two males then 5g is definitely not enough for them even if they're peaceful, and if they're female, then you should have 5-6 of them to ensure they establish a leader and don't end up attacking each other or singling out a single one.
janis crittendon minimum for a single beta should be 15 gallons/ 10 gallons for temporary housing. They can survive in a 5 gallon but it’s cruel cause it doesn’t allow them to swim around much and there’s no way you’re doing enough water changes to maintain the water chemistry. Again betas can be kept in horrible water conditions and survive but for the comfort of the fish in a 5 gallon you should be doing daily if not twice daily water changes of 25%.
I'm frequently horrified by the gimmicky tanks I see for sale which naturally attract kids and beginners (who may fall into the trap I initially did which was thinking a smaller aquarium would be easier to care for - I quickly realised my mistake, returned it two days later and swapped it for a bigger one). I honestly don't know how companies with a who are supposed to care about fish health can do this.
I got half a gallon tank for two tiger barbs, was a present from my mom, but the store only told her after that they need a heater and multiple together. They only tell you afterwards so you feel like you can trust them and buy more
it's a good container to cultivate black worm for your bettas , they dont need a light or a heater and they need a filter and half an inch of gravel, feed them crushed fish food and you will always have some live food at hand.
Wait, your bettas come in cups!?!?!. In my country there at least kept in small tanks with a drip system (though no heater). And I thought that those little tanks were bad.
I was actually considering buying one of these way back when for dear Mr. Fishy, who had lived most of his life in a one gallon bowl under the care of my well meaning but ill informed mother, I’m so glad I moved him to a community ten gallon instead
I love that you and me are exploring much better nano tank options.. I hope that we can change the industry by helping consumers make better informed choices 💙
A while ago I bought one of these, but now I’m more educated and I now have my 3 bettas in 10 gallon tanks each they are way more active and seem happier👌🌚
This is a good video to teach people, specially new fish keepers about real fish care! There should be standards for aquarium sizes and better and more realistic instructions in those aquarium kits. Thanks for that review, I am sure it will help some readers
I’m going to get a betta soon, and seeing these “tanks” just disgust me. Bettas are not decorations. They are not objects. They are not toys. They are living breathing creatures, so why don’t people act like they are?
Great review. Seen this aquarium for a while now and it looks and works as I thought it would. Hopefully people will watch this and not buy it. Keep up the great work.
It saddens me that there are people who are putting Bettas in minuscule tanks with plastic plants... It's good that this is a review. There are RU-vidrs (who acting as animal lovers) are promoting this abuse. (I don't call names) Personally, I have for my betta fish a 15-gallon (blackwater) tank created (aquascape) with real stones and wood and real plants...
Thank you for this review! I saw these advertised and was going to buy one. Now that I see how small the tanks are... I'll look for something else! Poor bettas need more space to swim!😟
Sometimes you wonder how these companies still operate when half of their products are designed to fail. But it is like you said. The product is designed for consumers but not for fish!
As long as people keep buying..they keep making money. As the hobby evolves..people do get better education and they will start to demand better I hope
I actually like tiny tanks. They have a lot of potential uses-plant tanks, terrariums, and even live food cultures. I just wish they weren’t marketed as betta tanks.
I might use this tank for my plants. My main tank has so many plants, they keep reproducing. Or I might use it if I have a sick fish. But its definitely not something I'd use to keep a Betta in
Good review. I was suspicious of these when I saw them in the store (the individual chambers seem way too small for a fully grown, active betta), and you've confirmed my suspicions. This was designed as a gimmick, not a way to successfully keep fish.
I appreciate your honesty within the video. I wish the title didn't seem like a potential endorsement of the product, though. I worry someone might quickly scroll by without listening to the critique within the video and misunderstand it to be humane. These types of tanks (and similar novelty hamster cages) need to be taken off the market immediately, imo.
I actually saw that and initially decided not to watch because I already know these tanks are awful for animals to live in. After it being in my rec of every video I figured I'd see and if I didnt like the content I'd just dislike and move on. About half way now and already know where this is going. Got a like and gonna check more videos out!
So, a while back my boyfriend got me one of these for my birthday. I explained that I wasn't keen on putting any fish in such small containers and went ahead and did some research on the "falls" part as well. Turns out the product is pretty dangerous for bettas, often getting sucked down into lower tanks and hurt or stuck in a tank with another male. We both decided to return the item and the store didn't want to take it back and instead just gave us a full refund and let us keep the tank. I have no idea why they did that but...the tank still didn't get used lol
The fact those are still legal is unbelievable. Switzerland has a strict policy on tank size and as far as I know you won't find this kind of tank in Finland either.
Well it isn't completely useless because that plastic unicorn actually looked pretty good in there. If I ever need a tank for plastic creatures I'll keep this one in mind.
Btw they sell flat heaters so that would work for the bottom and im guessing they want that much gravel so when fish are resting at the bottom, you can easily see them
Well too late for me....I bought one already. It's only been a couple of days, but so far so good. The only thing I'm struggling with right now is feeding. The current causes the food to go to the next fish so I try to directly feed them.
I upgraded to aqua one betta trio but this was fine for a while. You should top off to max once its running and you'll be able to fit heater and led lights in bottom. Also the fact that the betta looks through 2 frosted sides not just one made it so I never saw any flaring. That said If you want a tank for 3 get the betta trio.
I kind of like this "tank" as a really overpriced planter. I can't think of any other real use for it. Maybe my cats would enjoy using it as a water bowl.
this would be a really nice tank and set up if each one was 5-10 gallons and the sides blacked out instead of frosted. waaayyy too small for a betta's forever home...
I agree they should be given larger tanks if possible, but in the videos I've seen of Bettas being caught in the wild, they're always in shallow muddied waters, so considering that I can't imagine a smaller tank is all that stressful for them as long as it's kept at the right temperature
Shallow =/= small There can be hundreds of gallons of water in the area they live in. Just because it's shallow doesn't mean there's less than 1 gallon of water.
@@armoredwings4182 I've seen footage of wild betta literally living in mud puddles that look much less than a gallon and are 2 to 3 inches deep. The only way they could access more water is if they were to jump out of their puddle and land in another one, maybe that's why they are known for jumping.
Every pet store I've ever been too has their Bettas in little cups in a room temperature building...well maybe even cooler than most homes as they're air-conditioned....
Honestly I want to get one of these things. I think they *look* fantastic. For fish? Absolutely not. For some plants and *possibly* a snail or two? Hell yes. Hoping I can find one secondhand on craigslist or something. I miss having my tanks running in my bedroom, the noise of the filters and trickling water were soothing. Maybe with a desk lamp over it, it could support some low light plants? I'm really eager to attempt it.
Do you think this would work if your only keeping shrimp? (like dwarfshimp, aka neocaridina, ect...) Is there a way to keep the shrimp from getting out?
Shrimp are really good at getting into small places so I worry they would get stuck in the bottom filter section and when they breed..the babies will definetly get stuck in the filter.
The one perk about Aqueon as a producer is they give the option to actually remove the filter and see everything unlike some other tank makers where it’s a struggle to clean and remove the filtration systems etc.. But 2 gallons is too small for a tank.
Very cute but you are right not very practical and I love for my Bettas to have plenty room to swim. Be Awesome if was 2 gallons each lol tysvm for reviewing this product ☺
A 6-gallon version would have been much cooler although it would have to be made of a better material to handle the weight. With bigger compartments, the betta would have more space to stay away from the flow as well so that would be a plus!
It was a real pleasure meeting you, Daniel and Banana at the OCA Extravaganza! Great video, i can’t say I’ve wanted one but I was curious as to what sort of hot mess that thing was!
There's flat heaters that might fit in there. First time I saw this tank, I thought "no way." Especially at that price! Maybe put a nerite snail in each or better, pond or other tiny snails.
@Kuchi Kopi goldfish do not belong in this. A human can live in a cardboard box or a closet, but that doesn't mean they'd be happy or have a good life. It's not about whether the fish "fits" in it--they're not ornaments to squeeze into itty-bitty containers and left on a desk, they're live creatures. This design is all-around terrible for fish.
The only thing these are good for are temporary holding spaces for fry for a day or two while getting more permanent spaces set up, and definitely not for bettas. I would definitely put plants in it though. It would look cute with some small aquarium plants.
Got a favorite betta tank? I found a 9 gallon bowl on amazon and then i was looking at the rimless cubes. I rescued 3 bettas tonight who the original owner had this tank. I was thinking of switching this tank to a purely plant tank to test out and grow different aquatic plants or some sort of cool planter. Haven't decided yet. Its honestly so small. These bettas can barely turn around
Mine is pretty quiet definitely not that loud and when the water is in it it looks like a mirror tryinh looking into the other. But I keep tadpoles in mine so that doesn't matter. And no they don't get out into the sump or other tanks
I think ALL these types of tiny tanks are a waste of money!!! I don't think ANY fish should be kept in anything less than 5 gallons and even that is too small in my opinion. Personally the smallest aqurium I own is a Fluval Flex 9 gallon and I didn't even buy that one, I won it in a raffle at a show my local fish club had. I just think smaller than 10g or so is not worth it to me. I will say that I no longer keep looking finned bettas, only plakats.
I have they in black and I have a heater, the tetra for 10 gallon (spare). I use this tank for rescues, the annoying part is that you need to disconnect the motor so the food does not fall to the next “tank”.
I tried to film it...but it was hard to show because there is a slot where the water comes out between the two last containers (its well hidden). I do show the container that has the water return slit at 9:05
Creative Pet Keeping Ah, I see how it works now. Always saw these at Petco but never pulled the trigger to buy it due to size. If it were bigger, like 1 gallon each then it would be nice.
For plants maybe, but DEFINITELY NOT FISH. these little tanks that attract kids and parents thinking they’re a cheap and easy choice to get their kids fish, this is such a shame that people buy these and their fish end up suffering.
I’m looking at videos of this because I’m looking at it as an alternative to a cat fountain, hoping to keep my cat from drinking out of my planted 10g where my betta lives. Moving water, filtration. Can’t imagine using this for actual fish, though.
*If you found this video helpful, know anyone that's considering getting this or asking in a facebook group about it, please share this video with them!* I hope they will find it helpful and it will help the channel as well. Do you want to have multiple bettas in a tank? I suggest getting a 10 or 20 gallon tank (the dollar per gallon sale at petco makes the tanks cost $10 and $20) and using these dividers (affiliate link): amzn.to/35xxYCe Videos you might want to see! Don't forget that if you purchase a 10 gallon tank with that deal..you would also have to buy everything else the tank needs. Lights, filter, substrate, plants, heater, and etc. Which would add up to a regular kit tank that has everything
@@kyleebrooks2618 true, but it also allows for more customization. For example the cheap lights that come with the kits don't grow plants very well, and some prefer sponge over power filters. I'd rather start from scratch than buy stuff just to never use it
A while back I was in petco and I saw something very similar, but it was larger.I think it was $75.00 for the 3 tier and $60.00 for the 2 tier model. This one looks smaller. I do not remember seeing tops on the big ones.
The one that I saw was actually much bigger and it did not have a curve or if it did it was not as dramatic. I think that there is a small cheap one being sold online for about $45 but I will definitely get the one that petco sells for $75 .it is so much nicer.
