I 'll be damned, you answered a question I have had for years. In Vietnam I was issued a General Motors M-16 A1, it had a forward assist. That I NEVER used, no joke. 20 rd mags only. Years latter I bought a new Colt AR-15, and it wouldn't quite push a round into battery. 30 rd mag , it would happen once, sometimes twice every couple of mags. I tried everything, I didn't call Colt, I used 30 weight motor oil for about 400 rounds and it loosened up. Once in a while it would happen. I lived with it. Like a moron I sold it. It was a preban weapon. My lady friends son in law was the senior NCO Edwards Air Force base. One Sunday we went out to visit, and we went to the range. He or we took a CAR-4 and some other "things". When I fired the CAR I was surprised at the recoil, it was noticeably stronger, not any big deal its still a 556. You answered alot of questions I had AND some I didn't. Did I like the CAR..? I really liked the ACOG, And the 3rd burst I didn't think I would like it, but I DID you can pull the trigger fast enough. It is hard to believe that AR-15 Wasn't set up better..?

Ive always wrapped my A2 grips with sports tape and even mole skin. Initially it was to fill around the bump because without gloves, extended full auto fire would give me a blister. Which especially sucked on day one and day two of a popped blister and having to shoot full auto again. The self sticking sports tape worked even better since its kinda spongey and felt good in the hand. And now it comes in every color even black and camo. I still use it to this day.

1) the top holes in the MOE can be used for your sling but it stops you from compressing it all the way. 2) you don't mortar a bolt override. Use a piece of brass, a multitool, or anything you can get in front of the bolt and pull it back. That will drop the round out. 3) to stop the MOE from shaking just put a single piece of electrical tape on the buffer tube
@digitalwoodland2156
@digitalwoodland2156 Год назад
Yep don't mortar it, and if you can't find anything to move the bolt out of the way, make sure the mag is out first and pull the charging handle back as far as you can get it with the jam, then smack the handle forward and the round should fall right out of the magwell.

Just going to throw out Jones Arms has energy absorbing buffer tips made of urethane that are ribbed to a reduced size each rib that absorb a lot of the impact when the buffer hits the back of the buffer tube, which changes the way the recoil impulse feels, smooths it out a bit. Not night and day but at $14 it’s noticeable.

Here is my understanding of the buffer weights issue: Adding more weight in the buffer absorbs (buffers) more of the recoil due to the gun having to do more work to move that heaver weight rearward, and thus there is less recoil energy available for it to put into cycling of the bolt. Too much buffering due to too much weight will prevent it from cycling completely, similar to limp wristing a semi-auto pistol. Do I understand it correctly? FYI, tungsten is about 2.5 time more dense than steel, which means you can pack that much more weight (mass) into the same volume of a single weight by changing to tungsten, rather than using bigger steel weights to achieve the same weight increase.

Would’ve been nice to include A5 stocks too, Ala intermediate buffer system and is arguably the best buffer system. In view of that, there are also other types of buffer springs like variable springs or different lengths for better cycling. There are even special systems like DPM or JP captured springs that are more complicated but provides for the best possible tuning to get it perfect.

In defense of the 25 degree grip: your index finger will be directly inline with the center of the trigger. Cons: your index finger is directly inline with the center of the trigger, rather than along the receiver (finger off the trigger). From a shooting perspective, it's good. From a safety perspective, not so good. Additionally, a 25 degree rubber grip like an Ergo grip will distribute the weight across your fingers more evenly, so you end up with less fatigue on you middle finger, and less likely to rub your middle finger along the trigger guard.
