RENO, I know you're not a lawyer, but let's say someone took the Franklin pistol and basically made it like a "regular" maglok or juggernaut pin ar rifle but basically the pistol version. Obviously not an "assault rifle" and not an sbr, but do you think that if you got an officer who thought he knew better than you and arrested u would having an "unsafe" handgun be a misdemeanor? Or felony like having an unregistered "assault rifle"? Thanks for the video.

Or you could do option 5: Move here to Oklahoma: "The land of 1000 lakes" -- buy a farm house and 10 acres with a huge shop for less than $100k.. (and not $550k for a tiny studio closet, like it is in Cali). and live here, where it's Constitutional Carry and also medical cannabis at the same time. We have great internet-- legendary trail riding and sand dunes. More guns than you can ever buy. I don't think you've actually thought through all the benefits- Joe Rogan, Elon Musk and company moved to TX for a reason.

They are exempt from many firearm laws even after they retire. The fact that the grey market off roster handguns comes from LE should be a an indicator that the law is ineffective and that the state thinks it's so special that they don't need to follow the laws that citizens have to

As a New Yorker into firearms, listening to Reno talk about CA laws makes me feel like NY is just CA with a fraction of the gun population. Laws in CA are super precise to catch anyone doing it and get away with handing out felonies, laws in NY are crazy vague to indict anyone they want to and get away with handing out felonies.

You forgot about intra-familia firearm transfers. If someone has a parent or grandparent or vise versa in a free state they can legally give/transfer a off roaster handgun to their family member in California, they have to fill out the legal paper work for it and it's pretty easy and a great way to obtain those off roaster handguns.

Intra familiar transfers only legal if both parties are in CA. If the owner of the firearm is out of state and wants to transfer it to someone in CA it has to be done through a FFL.

I saw your prior videos on ar pistols builds/options for our wonderful state, the gun store down the street from me I frequent got 3 CA7’s in and posted it on IG. I was there before the end of the day and put my deposit. Picked it up 2 weeks later, had my BCM 300 blackout upper ordered and hell fighter mag lock kit ready to go shortly after. Thanks Reno!!

These kind of videos are extremely helpful. I stay up to date with all the law changes and such, so I was already familiar with these options. But having all the info in one video is great because sometimes I forget about some small parts of the law. BTW, are you doing Armed N' May this year? If so, please don't make it mother's day weekend. It was tough for me to convince my wife to let me go, and my buddy was unable to convince his wife, so I had to go alone 😔

I went the CA & route. I was warned by an old school "gun loving" LEO friend to carry all your paperwork, when transporting, just in case. Younger LEOs are not up on all the laws and may freak a little seeing an AR pistol.

SCOTUS denied to hear that case in the 9th Circus back in 2019, so we can’t attack the microstamping directly anymore. However, FPC is fighting the add 1, remove 3 rule which passed two years ago, which has the potential to overturn the whole roster.

While I really like ar pistols, I don't like the attention they bring. It's just not worth the risk to me (sad I know). But I don't want to rely on some rookie cop knowing the ins and outs of our ridiculous gun laws for my freedom. Hell we have guys getting in trouble for FEATURELESS RIFLES much less anything with a short barrel. I love that Franklin Armory is doing their best to stick it to CA though!

Reno, how does the threaded barrel pistol law apply to an AR pistol in CA? Can you run a non-permanent brake or flash hider? How about braces? Thanks in advance for the info.

I love off roster stuff as much as anyone, there’s just something that feels so wrong about overpaying to a cop because you’re not in the special exempt royalty class.

New to guns getting ready to get my first build , 16" barrel is the minimum, so is 13.7 + 3 in muzzle break/flash hider would be legal? And not considered an sbr? Leaning towards maglock if i HAVE to comply 😅
