This is an area where Jackson’s adaptation improved upon the source material. Aragorn letting Frodo go, holding off the Uruk Hai, and tackling Lurtz as the monster taunts Boromir was so epic and including the Death of Boromir in the Fellowship of the Ring as part of the climax was brilliant on Jackson’s part. This is one of many changes where Jackson’s adaptation outshines the originals, something very rarely seen as adaptations often fail to surpass the source material

I wouldn’t say it outshines the book. The two are both great in different ways. The book is a deeper look into Aragorns perspective and thinking. He is entirely focused on the quest and looking for Frodo. The death of Boromir doesn’t even happen in the FOTR book. The layout of the story is different because it’s a book. What Jackson did in moving Boromir’s passing and expanding the Uruk Hai attack was masterful from a movie perspective in that he built to an exciting climax. He’d added an origin for Lurtz and you have seen him track down the fellowship, kill boromir and kidnap two of the fellowship. Seeing Aragorn rush headfirst into danger to try and help his friends is very true to his character, as is his fighting ability. But by far the best thing about the movie adaptation was the scene where Boromir dies and confesses to Aragorn and they have a final moment. True to Tolkiens written version in TTT and very powerful performances by Sean and Viggo.

Boromir doesn't die at the end of Fellowship of the Ring (book 2 of 6). He dies at the start of the Two Towers (book 3 of 6)

That's good! There's people that can run it in 6-7 minutes in tracks and fields. I expect Aragorn to have run it in 3-4 minutes. That would be a pretty fast battle.

True but let’s not forget Viggo ‘Aragorning’ the hell out of the blade that was coming right for him! That was a spectacular feat that no doubt saved his life. It might not be in the book but it wasn’t that awful of an add to the film.

Guys, lotr is not the Bible. It's okay to add and remove things. As long as what you're doing respects the intentions of the source material, it's okay. Themes of forgiveness, hope and the insurmountable will of goodness, it works.

The movie also really steals Boromir's thunder. Boromir in the books looks like a younger, slightly better looking version of Aragorn, dark hair, grey eyes, close to 6'6, absolute fricking unit of a dude. The Uruk-hai were only able to beat him because they filled full of arrows - in the books there's at least twenty corpses surrounding him, he's literally a pincushion, his sword (which he was still holding), shield, and horn are all broken, and he's still alive if mortally wounded.
@Bfettrules
@Bfettrules Месяц назад
Yeah when I first saw Lurtz shoot him, I thought other Uruk Hai would start shooting. I kept thinking “are they gonna end it on a cliffhanger like the book.” Then I realized that they were gonna delve into the first chapter of two towers by showing boromir’s fate.

I love Boromir and my daughter and I watched Fellowship over a hundred times. Each time we noticed something different. Boromir was the best human fighter and he would have totally won if they hadn't used arrows. I'm sure Tolkien would have felt differently about his character if was able to see the movie. Plus getting up those 2 times after being shot was badass!
@IsaacHostetler
@IsaacHostetler Месяц назад
I don’t think they did him dirty at all. Borimir is one of my favorite characters in the books, and I love the way Sean Bean played him. Yes, he could’ve been taller, but you can’t expect them to find 6’6 actors for Borimir, Gandalf, Aragorn, and every single elf, so they just made him a large strong normal human. And he still did take out about 20 Uruk-hai in the movie, and maybe he took more arrows in the books but those were Moria orc arrows (I’m pretty sure) which would be weaker than Uruk arrows. And it would’ve started to look unrealistic, and it would’ve dragged on, if he got shot a dozen times and kept fighting
@wolftal1178
@wolftal1178 Месяц назад
I think you do Sean Bean a disservice, he did a damn good job playing Boromir although he could’ve looked a bit younger it’s true, he wasn’t that far off. Also, how do you know he wasn’t 6 foot, we know Sean Ben isn’t but with camera angles and the comparative size of other characters maybe he only looked shorter from our point of view. When it was just the scenes of The Hobbits you often forget that they are meant to be only reaching up to our waist, as you watch them you start to think they’re normal size until a man comes up next to them.
@jowolf2187
@jowolf2187 Месяц назад
@@wolftal1178Sean Bean did a great job, I just think that Jackson did him and the character a disservice by shortening the fight scene and giving the spotlight to Viggo/Aragorn who was supposed to arrive late and just be filled with grief. I can understand to some extent why he did it - to amp up the drama, but the problem is that it took away from the emotional impact of Boromir's death.

Yes yes yea but! Technically The movie needed a good ending action scene because this whole scene basically takea place at the begining of two towers not At the end of The fellowship movie. Ahm.. per the bookz..both masterpieces Let's not even get started with How much the movies leave out.. But it's understandable... Though being a big fan of the movie you'll be quite shocked reading the books . .. It's not just action action And they also change a few characters parts in the movie. Like arwen, who doesn't really do anything in the book Epic like save frodo from Ring wraiths ir The poison.. But they needed a strong woman.... She stole the male elve Glorfindels role and thunder.... Whoops im Doing it aren't i???

Well, to be fair if Aragorn didn't fight the Uruks as we saw he did then we wouldn't have gotten that cool fight scene with Lurtz, and besides, Lurtz was a cool character even if he was not in the books 😂😊...

I think u need to rewatch Borromirs death. He is seen as a hero, acknowledged as 'a True Captain of Gondor' by Aaragorn and his brother in arms. Aaragorn puts on his wrist guards as a sign of respect and gives him a Warrior's funeral that a Steward of Gondor would have had.

@@dancooke8811 All we see is boromir beeing killed by Lurz and then Comes Aragorn the hero saving the day by defeating the uruk that boromir was to weak to defeat. Then boromir has to bow down before Aragorn by calling him his King which never happened in the books. And the best Part of it Aragorn robbs boromir corps before it can become cold.
