I installed this on my jeep wrangler jl today. Video was great. Worst part was breaking basically all the clips on the removeal of the flare. rest of the work was straight forward. Thanks for the video - it was a great guide.
One thing I recommend when removing the fender: to avoid breaking the clips, if they do not come out easy, if you pull upward (or toward the outside) the fender will come off while leaving the clips attached to the side panel. The clips slide into the fender toward the edge, and can be slid right back out. Then the clips can be removed with a pair of needle nose pliers (squeezing the back behind the panel). This saved me the trouble of replacing them or putting to much force on the fender and breaking something not so easily replaced.
My wife and I just installed ours on our Gladiator today. Used this video as our guide and it was spot on. Thank you Northridge! Your videos are a god send to us DIY folks!
Not sure if anything has changed but I installed this kit on my 2022 JLUR Xtreme Recon and I DID NOT pull the fender flare or the liner. Maybe the XR has a different inner liner? I ordered 10 of the fender clips when I ordered my Grimm bracket but they did not show up in time for the need date (still haven't). 3 dealerships here and all had zero on hand and even if they did, they wanted $7.50 each (thieves). I decided to explore possibilities of installation without removal of the inner liner and flare because I have a trip on Sunday and breaking fender clips (100% chance you are breaking one or all of them) wasn't in the cards. Vehicle: 2022 JLUR XR with 3.6 E-torque. Cannot speak for any other configuration! Here is what I did: 1. assemble the compressor/bracket. 2. ***Turn the wheels right ( i learned this 1/2 way through!!!) *** 3. Remove 2 rear xmas tree plugs 4. Carefully push the inner fender liner up and roll it up so that it is resting on the the tire 5. Relocate the plug per instructions (if you are a 3.6 E-torque) 6. You will have to orient the pump and then bench press it up into place. It took me a few tries but it will go. 7. Finish the install. I think if I had the fender clips, I would have pulled the fender but necessity is the mother of invention! Best of luck and great product, GRIMM and thanks to Northridge 4x4 for basically getting me the bracket in 2 days.

@@northridgenation I can’t wait! We need to figure out how to change the 4e door to be customizable lol! Thanks for putting these videos together for us DIY guys and galls!
I have the 2.0 Etorque in my JL and that was a hell of a fit ! That said, I am somewhat concerned to zip tie those two connector wires to the coolant line, which gets very, very hot. Perhaps there's nothing to worry about but yeah -- seemed iffy.
The Grimm twin compressor mount has been tested and verified that they work with Road Armor, EVO and DV8 inner fenders. They'll keep updating the list as more info comes in. www.northridge4x4.com/part/compressor-mounts-accessories/10013-grimm-offroad-arb-twin-compressor-mounting-bracket-kit
@@northridgenation I have the Artec Industries inner fender liners and I'm hoping it'll work. Most if not all aftermarket inner fender liners tends to mount deeper into the wheel openings to create more tire clearance but a tighter engine bay.
@@jthor8373 The engineers at Grimm said that any fender liners that don't fit Diesel JL / JT most likely will not fit our compressor kit. If they do fit diesels, they are more likely to fit our kit because of the way that they need to avoid and cover the relocated washer bottle.
Great video but the Grimm Offroad Compressor bracket doesn't work on the JL or JT with the eco-diesel. And I'm not sure but I don't think it will not work on the 2.0 turbo. Not sure but I know engine bay layout is different as well.
Hey @Northridge 4x4 - then link in the video of the AR Compressor shows a kit with a bracket... I assume that the one that works with the Grim Offroad kit should be just the simple Twin Air Compressor. Can you confirm that this one has all that is needed?
Yes, you have to remove the tire and at least the inner fender liner is you needed to service the compressor. But there isn't much to service on the compressor. Pull the filters from up top and clean them out, that's about it.
@@northridgenation thanks for the clarification, I just find it so strange that with the new JLs there's no underhood mounting options like there used to be.... Is it because there's just not enough space? Looking around, this is basically the only under the hood option, and still this is not really under the hood lol
Thank you for another great video team N4x4! :) I am debating on purchasing this bracket kit for a JLUR 2018 3.6L and I have three main concerns while deciding. First being the heat from the catalytic converter being so close since these are designed to be red hot. While you haven't heard of issue do you think that this might be a concern if airing up during the hot summer months? Also do you think the difficult access might pose some serviceability issues? Last and most important did you guys test this bracket with aftermarket inner fenders and can you please share if it would work with specific brands without issues or trimming required?
We were involved in heat testing when these kits were being prototyped and did not see any issues, including running the compressor under load for an hour with the engine running. We also have one in a Gladiator with a 6.4 Hemi swap and haven't had any issues yet.
Now I'm wondering if this will work with a 2 door 2021 2.0 turbo JL Rubicon. Looks like a couple of extra modifications will be needed. Let me know if I'm right and what is needed. Really like how easy this kit is.
It does work with the 2.0T engine, you need to relocate the relay box from the fender to the firewall. It is covered in step 13 of the instructions, check out the product page for the instructions. www.northridge4x4.com/part/compressor-mounts-accessories/10013-grimm-offroad-arb-twin-compressor-mounting-bracket-kit
We have them on all the Northridge4x4 Jeeps up here in the PNW and we see lots of rain, so far no issues in over two years. Salt.... 😬 You know how that goes. If you don't get under there and spray things down every now and again, salt will destroy everything.
@@smarterthanyou2674 For the JT, mount that 2 gal air tank under the bed, then measure out how long of a air hose you need to feed it and order up a couple Grimm Offroad Stainless Hoses to route to it and back along the frame rail. We have the Grimm SS air hoses from 12" to 10' long! www.northridge4x4.com/brand/grimm-offroad
Have you heard of anyone having issues with overheating the ARB compressor when installed with the Grimm bracket? If yes, have you heard of anything to do to help reduce heat, possibly wrapping the exhaust components in heat wrap? We were trying to air up (20psi -> 35psi) a total of (8) 37" tires over the weekend and on tire #7 the compressor shut off automatically. I assume it was because of heat. The compressor later started to work again after returning to a manageable heat.
Yours is the first we've heard of and we've sold hundreds of these kits. When we tested the first kits, we ran the compressor for over an hour straight with the engine running and it didn't shut off. Make sure the compressor heads are not covered in mud. That would hold the heat in. Adding a small 12volt computer fan in that corner to help get more air moving across the compressor would help too.
Grimm Offroad did some long term running tests with the compressor running under load while the engine was running and saw no major spikes in compressor temperatures measured.
@@alifgilani9611 No problems Alif, the ARB compressor is sealed and designed to have the air intake filters relocated to a safer place. The fittings used in the Grimm kit are the genuine ARB fittings from their relocation kit. www.northridge4x4.com/part/compressor-mounts-accessories/171319-arb-air-filter-relocation-kit
You should note that this kit WILL NOT fit a JL with the 2.0L turbo engine. there are lines in the way in the wheel well, and there is a fuse/relay box in the engine compartment where the bracket mounts. I bought this kit from you and found that out when I tried to install it.
We've installed this kit on a 2.0T no problem. The relay block is relocated over the brake booster and we had to trim a plastic bracket that the heat shield hit.
@@northridgenation close to what I did, the relay box did not have enough wire to move, so I modified the air chuck bracket and installed it above the brake booster. Also had to move some lines in the wheel well to fit in the compressor. It might be the etorque that is different.
Still completely submerging your jeep in a river will destroy it I assume. I like it otherwise. Which is very normal on any trail in North Georgia where I live.
The compressor itself is submersible, just remote mount the filters like the Grimm kit does. It you're do water deeper than the hoodline, you might be needing to move other things too.
