I've never seen a game that makes so much effort with the sprites and artwork but so little with the music and SFX. It's a good example of how much sound can influence a game's overall presentation.
Funny you say that: the music was the reason i remember this game fondly. Though, it wasn't the music in this video. Somehow, the game i played was the prototype (i wonder why the hell i ended with the prototype in the arcade). The song for the first stage wasn't that bland rock song, but "Happy islands" of the instrumental group "Cuzco". Let me tell you: it sounded way better XD
This game looks awesome. Love the fact that they used the soundtrack To Live and Die in LA in the Train to Hell stage. Part of the soundtrack to Passenger 57 can be heard in one of the levels from what I have read in Wikipedia.
9:35 It's Marduk in his Levitating Darkness Throne! I love the juxtaposition of a kid's-movie plot with a vaguely Steven-Segal-looking tough guy hero and monstrous enemies. That and the title doesn't really describe the game at all--it sounds like an erotic sci-fi satire about a bio-engineered sex toy going on wacky satirical bio-engineered sex toy misadventures. Excellent play-through! We really need more lushly-animated arcade-style games like this.
Parts of the music (map, stage clear and credits) are from the soundtrack of the french movie "Subway" by Luc Besson. Composer and performer is Eric Serra.
They're probably sound effects taken from one of those CDs you can buy which include tons of generic sounds. This was very common for games back then. For example, the Doom door sound effects appear in plenty of sci-fi films.
Ok, so the clock was supposed to look after the pendant - but wasnt able to do a damn thing about it. Makes me wonder if the villain overslept last time or something else random.
I was thinking of Amiga too, lol. This game remind me a lot to that old game: Jim Power in Mutant Planet. You're the same person who did the arcade Nemo longplay, right? I recognized you for your way of playing, you use the same moves. Congratulations, I wanna watch more of your longplays soon. :D
This game has a lot of borrowed elements, aside from the music. The mushroom launch pads from Sonic and Knuckles, the mouth ports from Ghouls n' Ghosts, the flower monsters from Bonk's Adventure (even the eyes bug out the same), some Sonic level design, and those bladed pendulums on chains look familiar. What are those from? It's a really popular game, and I can't place it. Anyone got anything else?
I like the Amiga looking Graphics. If Amiga counts as an art style. Is the artist who did this famous or popular? reminds me of Risky Woods for Sega Genesis...Hey that would be a good Longplay...It isn't a bad game at all.
Reminds me of Metal slug with a touch of magic word (when you save characters and they help you). Cool game but the music dated. The sound effects remind me of old scooby doo cartoons.
