The animation, sound and backgrounds are so great. Such an amazing step up from FF2 and special. This was the beginning of the new artstyle, more refined.
"The blood of the Jins is the blood of death. It could only, in the end, conclude this way." [Shot of the Jins, dead] ... [One-second shot of Terry talking to two very alive Jins] Um...did someone forget to turn off the camera and just kept shooting after the director yelled cut? I'm picturing Terry running up and congratulating the two child actors on playing dead so well. "Gee Mr. Bogard, did we really do good?" "You bet, kids! Now let's go grab a burger - my treat!" "Yaaaaaaaay~!"
+DocFunky XD funny version there, but for what i know, after you beat Geese and Yamazaki it means you eventually recover the Scrolls of Jin, and whats the brothers are looking for and makes you fight them, defeating them literally means you kill them, but if you use a Good Character you get that picture, meaning the character used the scrolls to bring the brothers back to life, if you beat it with a Evil character (Geese for example) you dont get that scene
This is what it's all about. Just aesthetically this game rocks, from the corny (but surprisingly well localised) dialogue to the attention to detail - capped by sending Yamazaki flying through the screen - I just love how classic SNK pushed the envelope in the presentation of their games. I mean, SNK is still pretty great, but these were the golden days.
they were completely uninhibited by hardware! Whereas most devs had to use all sorts of coding tricks to incorporate unique fx SNK had a blank canvas to do whatever they wanted with thanks to getting such superior game hardware.
"The blood of the Jins is the blood of death. It could only, in the end, conclude this way." Terry: "Get up you drama queens we're getting out of this burning death trap"
@@baalfgames5318 i think I was less mocking the lines themselves and more them getting sad and deep before Terry presumably shakes them awake so they can exit the burning building
@@TheShinbe really not, in terms of 2d power n64/Saturn/ps were by far more powerful than neo geo. The problem was the ram of the sistem talking about Saturn and Playstantion. In n64 was because snk don't made any game for it
Helton Marroni I always picture it like this. Fatal Fury has the best graphics and atmosphere. KOF has the best gameplay. Art of Fighting has the best storytelling
Yeah that's crazy how that works. Then again I dont think SNK developed 2002 anyway. This game can even hang with the final releases of the Neo Geo graphically and may even look better than Samurai Showdown 5.
I was never a fan of KOF in terms of graphics, but I will bluntly point out Terry, Andy, Joe, Geese are way better combo wise in Fatal Fury then there KOF versions.
Not really. It has all those Cheap Insta Win "out of the ring" Win Condition. Those don't work well at all in 2D fighting games. ( A person who was a 90's kid is talking to you, so i know this by old school experience)
I love that sidestep feature, it adds a whole new dimension for evading attacks on a 2d plane. Imagine if the new mortal kombat games had that? No more just jumping or ducking to evade attacks, you could sidestep scorpions spear then grab it and pull him to you instead. That would make fights insane.
Not only that, that would actually be Realistic fighting as well ( just implemented in a 2D Game ) cause you can move in the Background and Foreground.
Fatal Fury 3 was probably the most visually appealing of all the games of in the Fatal Fury / Garou Densetsu franchise, but sadly seemed to be the most unbalanced and unecessarily hard as nails thanks to a wonky control scheme. SNK got everything fixed with the Real Bout games afterward, but you still got to love the unique look and atmosphere of this installment. Then again there is that horrible Engrish problem, but I guess that only adds to the overall charm...
+NEON 7 Glad you liked the lay-out of the controls, but personally it never really took with me. I still have a lot of admiration for this game though...I only wish the Real Bout controls could've been in it.
agreed but hell i have a lot of respect for this game because the arcade mode, really was the firts fighting with a good story mode for his time even when the ending is awfully lame
@duraznoches Dragon Ball is like, the Star Wars of anime. One of the most well known and influential pieces of media and even if you've never seen it you probably know all of the major story beats and characters.
Eu sei fazer todos This is the first game to have a secret special besides the normal special. I can do it all.
Geese was learning Shippuken during the FF1 events. When falling down the tower, he used it to save his life. He still had enough injuries to not being fully recovered in the events of FF3.
Ryuji Yamasaki got to appear as a cameo on the King of Fighters Stadium stage in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but the penultimate and final bosses the Jin brothers did not.
@@baalfgames5318 That's because the twins were not possessed by their ancestors anymore. Even though they kept some of their power, their ambitions are not the same anymore.
The third anime was kinda based on FF special. Because FF special had no story (dreammatch) they had to create new characters. Notice how the bad guy in this movie looks like a younger Krauser. FF3 (game) 's story kinda took the story of this movie but in another direction : instead of searching 3 parts of an amor, there are 3 parts of some ancient scrolls - one was held by Krauser like in the movie. In the movie there are twins : the girl and the boy, in the game the bosses are twins - two boys this time.
Colonel List Grüber If Mai Shiranui were to appear in Smash as a fighter, she would grab opponents with her legs. That’s the way it was in Fatal Fury Special. She would also have a Zair that would grab opponents in the air also with her legs.
Gotta admit. this is probably my least favorite game in the Fatal Fury series. The controls, while not awful, still felt unresponsive at times. Most of the newcomers in the game fall flat in my opinion, with the only exceptions being Blue Mary, Bob Wilson, and Yamasaki. The challenge really wasn't that fun for me as it felt pretty unbalanced. Finally, the sidestepping, my god the sidestepping. Sidestepping belong in 3D fighters, which this is not. It's so annoying when the opponents keep on sidestepping every 5 seconds. The Real Bout series I think were a huge improvement in my opinion, and Mark of the Wolves finally got rid of the sidestepping and made it a straight out 2D fighter, and I loved it because of it. If SNK ever brings back Fatal Fury and they want to bring back sidestepping, then I hope for the love of god they make it a 3D fighter like Tekken. I think that's the only way sidestepping would work.
Yeah, I know there was one already. But it doesn't hurt to try again. If they were to bring back Fatal Fury, I say either make it a 2.5D fighter, or make it a 3D fighter if they want to bring back sidestepping.
marplatense31 I agree with you man, this was my least fave as well in the series. I do love the Real Bout series and Garou: Mark of the Wolves is awesome.
The Jin bros are probably the worst bosses in SNK history. I get what they were going for, they’re supposed to be these extremely powerful beings who fight effortlessly, hence the lack of a real fighting stance and dashing without moving their legs. Unfortunately, they just end up looking stiff and awkward instead. They also look like they’re putting effort into their special moves, so the idea isn’t even consistent. Also, like, seeing Terry beat two kids to death isn’t super hype.
There are kids (18 yo though) who have been possessed by their ancestors' soul after having been beaten to death by bullies. In FF3 we fight possessed versions of them. They come back to their sense at the end of the game. Now, if you are judging these characters from the English translation of the game, you failed. The stance could be a reference to Mr.Popo in Dragon Ball : clear your mind and move fast. That's what they actually do, see their punches and their dash.
@@realamericannegro977 With the power of the scrolls and the soul of the ancestors possessing them they are supposed to be stronger. With the souls gone and the scrolls in possession of Geese (or torn appart) they got weaker.
@@realamericannegro977Geese was the one who canonically found and defeated them. So it's a fact he's stronger than them. How they compare to Krauser is debatable, though.
It was included in the PS2 Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 1 - I’m playing it right now but can’t figure out how to activate hidden desperation moves in this version of FF3 - because the way I do in the arcades isn’t working, it just pauses.
