Thank you! One of my caps on my X-Men vs Street fighter monitor chassis I can tell broke. Had like a white liquid dried up, must have swelled. I'm able to spot that while watching your video, thank you!

If you have a TV or arcade game doing this, switch it off as soon as you notice the problem. Without the vertical scan, the horizontal line will be VERY bright and will burn the phosphors much quicker than usual. After a few days of running like this, you may well see a dark line across the screen where the phosphor has burnt; even worse than the normal screen burn that arcade games get.

Hi, thanks for your video it was very helpful. I have a quick question. Hypothetically speaking, if you took out a TV monitor and replaced the old chassis with an arcade one, would it be able to work as an arcade monitor or would the arcade chassis just not work with a TV monitor? Just wondering because I have a spare TV with no practical use right now.

Do you guys have any tips for getting new B+'s on chassis? Places to order and brands to buy/avoid? Why don't they include B+ capacitors on chassis cap kits?
@111EJG
@111EJG 12 лет назад
Thanks, but I'm still a little unsure about how to go about doing that. For example,the neck on my TV has 9 pins, and the board it uses has twelve holes. Most of the arcade chassis I've seen on eBay have 10 holes. And one more thing, don't you also have to measure the inductance both horizontal and vertical of the yoke? I remember reading that when I found a forum with the same question. Any help would be nice. Thanks for the other comment.

Hi, i want to built my own neo geo mvs bartop with a mvs slot, and i was wondering if i could take just the monitor of a 36cm CRT tv to put in my cabinet, instead of putting the entire tv inside ? I hope that you'll have time to answer me :)

What's Michael TV repair store's webpage?
@8-bitBishop
@8-bitBishop 12 лет назад
Yes it would work. 2 things though: Obvious number one: The neck board from the arcade chassis is compatible with the TV pins, (usually is if it is the same size monitor)Not so obvious number two: You need to get a voltage meter and set it to ohms, you then need to (measure) the resistance (both horizontal and vertical) of the yoke(the copper coils that slide over the neck). If the resistance matches the rating of the arcade boards specs. Easier than it sounds.

@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 3 года назад
Since it's not entirely collapsed, try replacing the caps first to see if it helps the issue before moving on to the steps that we discuss in this video. Hope that helps.

Hello sir...I'm having some issues here...I was trying to get my pi2jamma working with the Hdmi timing and Inkind of messed up my monitor I believe. I also when I take the Jamma off and play a PCB game Nna showtime and plug the Jamma in the PCB I get these red lines stroll as well as on the Raspberry pi. This just happened after I put the wrong settings / Hdmi setting / other Display settings on my CRT. Does anyone knows how to fix this issue for my CRT Arcade monitor? Do you think my Jamma is messed up or is a Resolution problem? I have a pic I took..if could send you the pic to your email..if you have one?

Based on your description, this sounds like more of a board issue. Check out our post and video on Inspecting An Arcade Board (www.arcaderepairtips.com/2011/03/16/inspecting-an-arcade-board/) for some tips that might help you out with this problem. You might also email some pictures of the monitor to us at questions@arcaderepairtips.com so we can take a look. If you would like more details about your question, please tune into our Live Show Episode 52 on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 5:30 PM CT. I have this problem in a chasis weiya, the b+ is very high 247v, the input in the vertical should be 24 and i have 34. Can you give me and idea where to see or what is making this problem?
@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 3 года назад
We asked our monitor repair specialist Michael about your question and here are his thoughts: There are three main causes of this issue. The first is cold solder joints. Double check all your solder joints (especially on the larger components) and touch up as needed. Next, check all of the caps on the b+ voltage line and in the power supply. Pay close attention to your 35v-50v caps and make sure that they are not open. Finally, it could be that the power supply does not have a load on it which could be caused by open resistors in this section. It's common for this to happen when the flyback or the HOT goes bad. Look for these resistors and replace as needed. Also, just wanted to let you know that we will be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 48 on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 5:30 PM CT. Here's a link to the episode if you want to watch it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Y2j-bEFhjI.html. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future repairs.

I hope that you've solved your problem but I have made a quick research and found this. If the color of the monitor is close to ff00ff (you can google it) - I think it's the green that is dead, because this color is 255 red, 255 blue and 0 green... Use the previous video in the playlist to solve the green problem.

Not sure if you guys will see this comment or not but my monitor is exhibiting this issue. After 5-10 minutes, it fixes itself. Any idea how I can fix this? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wvknjq4y7bo.htmlsi=iCiiwq3nq1rjyKVY You also see these horizontal lines at the top that appears when it first turns on but goes away after a few minutes.
@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 4 месяца назад
Try adjusting VR450 on the main chassis. This should help with the hourglass effect. If it doesn't, the problem could be electrolytic. The horizontal lines at the top are usually a good indication that it's time to install a cap kit. Hope that helps.
@vodkagobalsky
@vodkagobalsky 4 месяца назад
@@arcaderepairtips I actually had the chassis recapped pretty recently. The hourglass effect does go away after the monitor is on for 5-10 minutes. It started happening after the cabs were moved recently. I can look into the VR450.
