Your videos are great guys. I just picked up an old Xybots cab and am looking to refurb it. All the bulbs are dead so this post is a great start for me. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Mike

@Wiitalks Look at the belt attached from the motor to a gear on the steering wheel and make sure that it is tight. Also, there is a potentiometer around the motor that tends to go bad. You can check it with your multimeter to see if it's working properly. Your motor could have gone bad, however, these motors tend to last a long time. We have also featured your question on episode 18 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thanks.

Any tips on swapping with a LED strip that works good as a replacement for the fluorescent light? And just hook that to the powered supply?

brothwood1, Sounds like you might have some bulbs out or some bad wiring. We recommend replacing the bulbs that are located behind these buttons and doing some continuity checks on the wiring to see if they are getting power to the bulbs. We have also featured your question on episode 6 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thank you for your question and please let us know if you get this issue resolved.

1974cactusjack, While we are not as familiar with the Seimitsu buttons as we are Happ, most lighted push buttons work on the same premise. For your particular issue, we recommend doing a search on RU-vid for "Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 Light-up on press mod demonstration" and click the first video. There's a Shoryuken forums link that should help. We have also featured your question on episode 1 of our Q&A podcast. Look for it to be posted on our website soon. Thank you and good luck.

@RetroGamerFan1 Our favorite sites for pinball parts are Pinball Life and Steve Young's Pinball Resource. You can do a search for these terms in Google and they should come up. These sites should have the bulbs that you are looking for. We have also featured your question on episode 20 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thanks for your question and good luck with your future repairs.

I recently bought an arcade game from 1988 called Cabal, and the marquee light isn't working. I replaced the bulb, still didn't work, I replaced the starter, still nothing, so I replaced the ballast, and still nothing. I tried checking all of the connections and they look fine, what could be the problem? Also my game counter is stuck and wont tick when a credit is added. any tips on how to fix that?

Hi, Adam! Basically, the system for the fluorescent lights is very simple - bulb, bulb fittings (T5 or whatever), a starter (with its fitting), ballast and wires. I think that it will be best to check each other in the order I'm typing here. The fittings have 2 small metal strips in them - you can remove the cap with the 2 oval holes to see them. If they are not new - check for oxidation or for a bad contact with the bulb. I'm almost sure, if everything is new and working, that you have a wire or wire connection problem. If nothing is working - check if you have a voltage to the light's connector (well...you should check that first). :) Don't forget about the safety, always touch with mains plugged OUT and check with a multimeter with mains plugged IN (but DO NOT touch the wires or near them). And for the game counter - it's simple because you have only 2 options - wires check and changing the unit. The way it's working is - you have voltage leads and a signal input. When you put a coin, the signal input is triggered (oftenly - HIGH) and it turns the mechanics in the counter by 1 unit. If the wires are good - it means that it's electronics (or oftenly - mechanical) problem with the counter that's not worth trying for fixing it...they are pretty cheap. A nice lifehack for checking it is to figure out which wire is the signal and try to make a "dummy coin" aplying some voltage through it. Try to find some videos on how the counter actually works here on YT - I'm sure they are many. Best regards, Bobby

Use a multimeter to check power to the marquee light connections and see if you have power. If you don't you may have faulty connections or have a power supply problem... If the counter doesn't tick, it is most likely bad... Test power to that when you insert a coin...

Open the Coin Mech door, behind the return button (the slot where you insert the coin and stuff) there is a small light attached to a wire, pull the wire, it will slide off a metal piece that holds it, pull out the light (I bought two packs for 3$ at Menards, check Automotive, they're car lights) put it back in the slot and slide the wire back onto the metal, if you bought the right light it will work. (Make sure you replace ALL of them otherwise it has tenancies to malfunction

Hit 4 then 3 then 9 and he says "put in a new blub...and what you'll notice is...the wires get all mixed up..." I peed laughing...

@thegodfather814 If the Street Fighter Alpha board is working fine then it probably means that your Marvel vs Street Fighter board has committed suicide. This is common with CPS-2 boards. If you do a web search for CPS-2 suicide you will find some pages devoted to the topic. You might be able to find someone who can revive it but otherwise you'll have to buy another board. Also, we talk more about this on episode 22 of our podcast. Listen to it for more of our thoughts on your issue.

How about bright LED strips? Those have a longer lifespan and they use less power.
