Not sure when people are reading this post but 2022.12.10 arcade 1up has this for sale for $299.99 on there site. No one seems to be posting it on adds or none of the big box stores are matching this for some reason. I understand that arcade1up is a pain if you need a return or exchange. Also shipping under 500$. I ended up contacting best buy for a price match for the manufacturer price. They declined it. I ended up doing it again with a different rep and they accepted it and order this for me through best buy. If your price match doesnt work, try again. 299 is a good enough price for me.
Bro 299 is a great price for a Arcade KI real talk. I love that game. An OG arcade game I love KI. My character is Sabrewolf lol. I’m jealous my friend.
@@vegetaking1272 yeah… i got like 4 cabinets around that time. I think I spent under 1100$ after tax for the 4 at best buy due to price match. KI was the most expensive at 299. The others were the simpsons, racing, and terminator. None of which has any flaws or defects so far. Maybe they amped up their quality.
Such a cool lil' machine. Mine should be ready for pickup from Best Buy soon. Price matched that RC Willey for 299 - looks to be totally worth it. That being said, despite the many complaints Arcade1Up gets from it's own fanbase, there's no denying the joy they've brought to the home arcade scene.
reminds me back of the good ol days where i would hit up the mall just to play this one arcade game for hours. To be able to chain combos/break combos along with unique ultra combos, this game was way ahead of its time back then. Even now, if there are any arcade with this, I would play this over any other.
Awesome you got KI! I've been wanting one since it's launch, but could not shell out the $700+tax for it. Got it on sale a couple days ago and waiting for it to come in. Can't wait. Great in-depth video. Keep 'em comin'!
Damn, this brings back memories. I always loved to play in arcades, it is sad that now those are now relics from the past, at least here in Brazil, you can't find it anymore. Before we had game houses with tons of arcade, now, only consoles. Loved the content my man, I'm subscribing for sure!
Awesome video, I did a video about my Marvel vs Capcom 2 Cabinet. I have MVC1 and 2 cabs but these will definitely be my last cabs from Arcade1up until they improve on quality and respect its customer base. I'm looking forward to your KI cab fix and subscribed by the way!
I got 9 of these 1ups and KI is easily 1 of their best machines they've made. Code Mystics did the emulation for this 1 and it seems they're 1ups best emulators from the groups they have do these. Code mystics just a month ago made a patch for the game that reduced input lag for the KIs i wish they would do the emulation for all the cabs. For the price u cant beat it enjoy!
9??!!!! at 399 each??!! $400×$9=$3600 who in ur family has own $3600 on cheap 20 inch TV monitors $20 bottom shelf arcade controls and 2-4 arcade rom files?? for $130. u can get a pandoras 9s treasure box 3D with 4580 arcade roms... and the arcade controls are mid level not bottom barrel like 1up machines. It doesn't come with an arcade cabinet and it doesn't come with a TV monitor but you can plug it into any TV like a big screen and looks better I suppose somebody could build a cabinet basically the whole thing looks just like the hand control box area on the one up but it's white it's bigger it's the size of a full size arcade control panel instead of the 3/4 size of the arcade 1ups like 4th of the price and you get over 4,000 ROMs instead of spending $300 on four ROMs at a time crappy Chinese monitors of way too small controller deck that's too narrow at 3/4 size with bottom Barrel level sticks and buttons
Nice, real-world review. I just got this cab used. Mine does have the popping issue, so I have to just turn off the power strip when I am done with it. Annoying, but tolerable. Might enquire to see if the part is actually for sale. For me, the absolute biggest selling point of this cab is the control deck height; it's perfect for me at 5'11. Probably be a bit of a reach for children, but I would hazard to say that 95% of the people who are playing these are adults. The sound seems pretty decent (compared to other Arcade1ups anyway) for this cab, and the wifi seems to work well.
I'm going to buy the pro model just to see what it gives you for the price difference. Guess I'll make some ticktoks of the assembly and gameplay. Awesome video sir .😊
I swapped out the button and joysticks with real sanwa's and added a a real coin mech. A1up upgrade joystick not bad, but the thing is you just wanna add a tighter spring. I put a 6 pound spring in mine. It makes a major difference. If you ever see c_low_da_wrk online, let's run a few sets.
Arcade1up sent me awhole replacment control deck for T2, i don't think they ship the board separately? My light guns weren't doing anything. I opened it up on bottom plastic on mine and the power cord going in got squished when they made these things. Lousy quality control over there but they do make it right!
That popping is a feedback from the amp to speaker leads. On the board its not powering down the amp so the amp is still sending a loop to the speakers. My monitors do the same thing. Its very irritating
Do all of these units come with a light up deck? I just put mine together and there are no lights. And yeah...I purchased it directly from Arcade 1up for $299
Yes sir it's there, check for a small black button up on the right top corner of your panel. There is a black bar across the very top of the panel, and at the end of that should be a small black button to turn it on
Same thing happened to me. BestBuy said they would only price match for 399. I waited several hours and tried again and got it for 299 and free shipping! Im a little nervous, havent played the old school ones since the 90's. Loved the new one on Xbox, best fighting game to come out in years hands down. Does it seem slow to you?
Not at all, feels like Killer Instinct should. It's identical to the original arcade PCB. Code Mystics did an excellent job keeping everything in tact from the original arcade. I actually repair and restore original coin op arcade machines, so I'm pretty well versed in original arcade hardware and software. the Arcade1Up machines that Code Mystics works on are hands down the most accurate to the arcade originals.
That's just the sound of a capacitor on the board discharging and causing a temporary powering of the speakers that such a wavelength that you just hear the popping of the speaker cutting on and off as one of those capacitors probably have a short and our discharging instead of holding their capacitance charge
You kill me w the Genesis Bonky Donk references. You did it to Mortal Kombat too. Im pretty sure i have a fractured rib from laughing. bonky donkin af. 😅
It would be cool if 1up arcade would do a MVS SNK machine of some kind.... Not sure how it would work but with the ability to switch out carts would be cool
No it's not as smooth, but it's not bad either. It's a clone of a Sanwa joystick, but the original KI had Suzo Happ sticks. You can buy an official Suzo Happ joystick, (the exact sticks in the original arcade) and replace it fairly easily.
I got 2 real arcade pcbs of ki and ki2 i wanna put then in a yoga flame cab then then install graphics on it. Noway i could put them into a real cab :(. I wonder if a crt would fit in a cab lol
A CRT would need a lot of reinforcement. The weight would make the cab unstable. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but the inside of the cab would need some serious reinforcement. I've seen people complain about these 1Up machines being particle board, which makes me laugh because a lot of real full size coin ops are also particle board, albeit 3/4" to 1" thick particle board. Especially Midway cabinets. I've been an operator, and I have worked on and restored real coin ops most of my life. I might do a video on this subject.
@@RCArcade haha ya i just want the classic look when i was a kid lol of going to the arcades lol.. id have to build some wood inside the cab for the tv to sit on i know that to make it stable.
@@kevinthorn9672 Honestly, a 19" CRT that's not encased in a housing would fit but it would be an extremely tight fit. I'm not sure I would push those limits. So if you could track down anything under 19", it should fit. Again I stress, major reinforcements. Finding a CRT these days is not easy, especially ones with a Scart input.
It does have some low end, but nothing crazy. It's not booming like the OG cabinet was, but it's not thin either. The volume goes from 0-15. It remains nice and clear at 13, but at 14 or 15 it becomes distorted. It's still plenty loud at 13 though. It's serviceable, but if you really want some booming low end you will have to upgrade the speakers.
The only thing that bothers me is the power issue. The part is on the way to fix it, which they sent out free of charge. I got it for $399, I wouldn't pay anything above that.
Yeah it's available right now directly through Arcade1Up for $399. It was actually lower than that over the weekend. I got mine from Kohl's when they had it at $399, but its still on sale for $399 directly from Arcade1Up.
I'm 6'1, so it's possible. It's definitely high enough I can play it comfortably. But it comes with a stool anyway. If you want a real comparison to both my size and real coin ops, check out my Arcade1Up Mortal Kombat Deluxe cab video. You can see the real coin op, the Arcade1Up, and me all in the same shot.
I always regretted not tracking down an OG cab back in the day when they were affordable and easier to find. I do have OG cabs of MK1, 2, 3 and 4 though. My MK3 was the first cab I bought back in the year 2000. It was only 5 years old at the time. Crazy it's already been 22 years since then.
@@cpu64 Not bad. I got my MK machines in the late 90's - early 2000's. I paid about 1200 TOTAL for all 3 MK machines I have in full working order. My Tron I got for about $400 bucks in 2003. The rest of my full size coin ops were in that same range. Got my Sega Stadium Cross dual bike racing for $200, only needed a power supply. So hopefully that explains why I wished I tracked down a KI back then. 🤷
That it is. I mention it in the video about how the Ultra 64 intro is replaced. There was no way it was going to have Nintendo branding since Microsoft now owns the KI brand. I wish they could of done it, because it would of opened the door to other Nintendo brand arcade games like Donkey Kong.
How the fuck do 2 grown adults play on this thing? I saw a bunch at Best Buy and I couldn't even really fit next to my 6 year old son comfortably. I'm only 5'11 and 175.
Via two methods: Online play, or in person play by getting extra fresh with each other LOL. The online play is the selling point. The two player control panel is in my opinion, for aesthetics only. Unless it's two kids under 10 playing. I know exactly what you mean though. When my son and I play, who is 7, it's not very comfortable when you are basically standing to the side. I view and use these cabinets as single player only. But that's easy for me to say because I have several full size coin ops as well. For someone that this is the only machine they are buying, it's not going to work too well for in-person two player play. I would only recommend it for single player or online play.
Not buying it Microsoft released the best killer instinct In 2013 on Xbox one if arcade 1 up Sony add that killer instinct I won’t buy it then killer instinct is not the best fighting game it was street fighter tekken soul caliber I didn’t like killer instinct until Microsoft released their remake version that can only be played on windows 10 11 xbox one xbox series X/S of your someone who doesn’t own a PC that’s got windows 10/11 or Xbox one then that’s why you may never known about the killer instinct it’s on game pass not just on game pass it’s free to download every week they give you a new character to play as
I know all about it. I have the definitive edition for Xbox One. I grew up in arcades in the 80's and 90's, and eventually operated an arcade and I also repair and restore coin op arcade machines most of my life. KI is a part of that experience. I own just about every form of it from Arcade, Super NES, KI Gold on N64, KI on Xbox One, etc. Same for MK, I own every form of every version. I collect them. Tekken is great, also have most versions of it as well.
@@RCArcade I got all the killer instinct also that went on Super Nintendo Nintendo 64 I loved them all but as soon Microsoft released killer instinct on Xbox one I stopped playing killer instinct on the other consoles Microsoft did the job that Nintendo couldn’t do for years glad they own rare now if Nintendo still owned them there would be no killer instinct on PC all I want is that killer instinct on the arcade 1 up included with killer instinct 1/2 can’t be that hard Microsoft shares their games unlike Nintendo who doesn’t where is the Donkey Kong arcade 1 up Mario brothers still Nintendo won’t give the license to arcade 1 up so everyone can buy those games they want everyone to play them on the Nintendo Switch console
$400 or less is worth it. Anything above that is not. The quality had gotten better over the years, but it's not perfect. You must be interested to be viewing so many videos on them. There are some good ones, and some that are trash. I've operated and also repaired and restored real coin ops most of my life. There is potential with these little cabinets, but it's not perfect out of the box. If you can get them under $400, you have a good base to make a solid game cabinet.
I feel a bit silly asking this BUT how on earth do you do the ultra combo in killer instinct? I loved it when I was about 12 in the 90’s and love orchid? But I could never work out how to do the ultra combo. 🥲
