Special Note: This film has no relation to the video game Life Is Strange. If you look into the timelines of the projects you will see that Arcadia Bay was already shooting when Life Is Strange was announced (and I'm sure they were far into development at this point as well). However the coincidences between the two are sort of insane. Both are set in a town called Arcadia Bay, on the Oregon Coast (this film was shot on the Oregon Coast). And from what I've read Life Is Strange also features some heavy Mystery/Sci-Fi themes.

Years ago I was trapped inside a crashed vehicle for 8 hours before being spotted . During that time I was watching my blood/life drain away, I was in an impossible situation and started to panick which increased my blood loss, I knew that I had to calm down and I did this by retreating into my own mind, the pain, the stress, the panic all melted away. In my mind I created my own paradise and was so happy. It worked so well that when I was cut free from the wreckage I wanted to stay . Thankfully after a long stay in hospital I recovered . I was told that I should be dead so I guess I am lucky , however the problem I faced was that cos the utopia I created was so real to me I soon realised that now I would never truly be happy cos my dream was just that, ‘a dream’, reality fell way short. I soon spiralled into a depression that took years to truly leave behind . Now though many years have passed, I’ve kids that have now grown and grandkids. This life with all its pitfalls has turned out to be my real utopia. I’ve made mistakes along the way, like we all do but I’ve come to realise that it’s the imperfections of life and how we react to them that make life living . There were times with my eldest son that I thought he couldn’t f*ck up any worse then he would go and prove me wrong, he’s cost me many sleepless nights and a fortune in money But things have worked out for him, I wouldn’t change anything he put me and his mum through cos the end result was all the more worth it. The reality is that Utopia only exists in ones mind , the best that you can really hope for is to be happy more times that you are sad, You can take that as a life lesson from an ol’ wise one .

The thing about a perfect virtual reality simulation is that there is no actual way of telling whether this is reality or a simulation. it's like the old dream within a dream scenario that's based on phenomenology !

Just a gamer of life is strange here: First things first, i love the movie and the place. Ive known Arcadia Bay through the game, that place is PERFECT but the only thing i saw wrong about that place is the lighthouse. But overall this movie is the best! I love it!

Just an FYI ... automatic pistols don’t go “click click click “ if you pull the trigger , after they run out of ammunition. Revolvers do ... double action revolvers , anyway . Double action autos will , if you drop the slide on an empty chamber . BUT , if you fire one until it’s empty , the slide locks to the rear , and you push the mag release to eject the empty mag , insert a loaded magazine in the weapon , let the slide go forward by depressing the slide lock or pull the slide to the rear and let it go forward to chamber a new round . One of those little details that take you out of the scene , and make you say “ wait ... what ?” And then laugh a lot . Overall a good attempt though .

I'm a little fuzzy on all the details now since it was over 2 years ago we were filming, but I believe we used a Canon 50mm, a Tokina 11-16, and a Canon 70-200 mm for the majority of the film.

Holy moly, mother hovers. 11:25 I have been seeing this shit going on near where I live. Near a cemetery, for real. This short is really good. It seems to be like my life more and more. Not bad acting. Was a little hard to follow at first (good). Had just enough of a whiff to keep me going. Ending was good, but could use a little polish. Keep it up. By the way, I do not know anything about your line of work. When is your next one due? Look forward to it.

The film was definitely a great learning experience for me, making mistakes and learning from them. :) I was approached by an LA producer as a result of making this film and am now in pre-production on my first feature that will be shooting this summer. Is that what the 8060 sounds. Did yuo shoot MOS and adr it or is this just the mix, it sounds like mublecore a lil bit.

Yes, we used the 8060 basically the whole film. No ADR. We were using an H4n for our audio recorder, so the combination of the not so great pre-amps there (had to boost the gain), shooting a lot of scenes by the ocean, and my pretty limited sound design experience are probably the reasons for any less than ideal sound.

The h4n and ocean will do that. I have a 416 and at4053b and I've been considering selling both and getting the 8060 for indoor and outdoor but got worried because I think it has a wider pickup pattern than the 416. But the dialogue had little to no coloration it's frequency appears to be consistent in mids, lows and highs. The 416 is more low end which is the case with most older mics .

Really great movie. Bit slow at the beginning but it really starts pull together and one really understood what was going on. If the government's had the ability to use simulation to interrogate people they would use it they could completely confuse people so they wouldn't know if they were talking to their enemy or there family and eventually they will be able to do this. Lies will be passed for being the usage of these types of tools Etc will be very interesting you have people who will desire to live in alternate realities want you to live with in the games that they body believe that that was harmed badly enough you could die within a game as a matter of fact this was something that was Prophecy in the movie 20 years ago almost before we even thought of that really so now we're catching up because people are climbing the canyons and doing this virtual reality stuff but they don't know there could be harm to themselves in it.

A well-done film, albeit an entirely unoriginal concept. Another thing is that, whereas all "simulated reality" concepts show the simulated world as looking exactly like the real thing, it would probably be quite easy to spot if you were in a computer simulation, because the graphics would actually be a bit, well, shit....
