As much as Gamigo are the most pathetic publisher in the MMO genre the reason me and my guild stopped playing Unchained was mostly due to "Daily Age" as well as the lack of guild vs guild end game content, the game didn't have the equivalent of BDOs Node Wars, did they ever update the game to actually provide a solid end game? If not I don't think the game would succeed even without p2w under Kakao, They essentially turned the game from a sandbox to a theme park over the years.
If you mean the dailies you had to do to upgrade your gear, that shit took 30min top. Dont see a problem there, bigger problem would be the fact that hiram gear pretty much made crafting useless.
@@S33k3R7 it didn't took 30 mins.. me and my friends and basically everyone i know ditched the game for the exact same reason... it took several hours to do the dailys and it was essentially the only thing u would do. It didn't feel like sandbox at all.
The problem i have with both of those games is that there is virtually no actual pve content aside grinding. Overall archeage was a pretty terrible game. Bdo, good combat, sound, graphics, and pvp, but that's about it.
I also stopped playing Unchained for this reason. And, because you could get more and more rewards the more alts you had with you doing dailies. You could see people carrying their alts in their vehicles to world events,just leaching everyone, and those people were the ones getting more power and more gold. We told Gamigo about this alt-dailies meta but they still decided to launch the game like that.
the archage alpha was one of the best gaming experience of my life. leveling, farming, crafting and trade runs across the sea. i don't hold out much hope after how bad the the initial launch was and how much they screwed all of that up.
oh man, i remember organising a trade... found out that even though the in-game chat wouldn't let you talk to the other continent, they didn't do that with the mails. Organised a drop off point with a guild, found a deserted island, parked up our trade ships and swapped cargo and sailed back to turn each others packs in. Fucking wish that game was good because damn did it make a bunch of unique memories.
I've played dozens of MMOs over the years, none ever really lived up to ArcheAge in its prime for me. I'm not even that big of a PvP fan, but ArcheAge had so many cool systems that just pulled me in, like the ship combat, trade runs, the open world housing, etc. Really want to overdose on Hopium, but it's hard after how many times the game has been run into the ground.
Archeage is probably one of the best MMO's of all time, it just hasn't been managed by anyone of competence, every time greed kills the game, they'd make far more money if they didn't go full greed. Lets be honest though, Kakao will mess it up like the others.
Id say a lot of the elements of the game are definitely the best. The crafting, land management, trading, and class systems are all amazing...A huge issue with the game is when it comes to end game gear. It just becomes a literally endless slog of trying to keep up with no-lifers and eventually you just fall off to a point where there is no reason to play anymore. Archeage has no staying power for anyone not 100% committed to doing anything other than constantly increasing your gear score.
@@PerfectAimPoseidon would be fine if it was just the no-lifers, but the real problem was always cheaters using exploits and whales buying gold. there was never any chance to compete with those guys no matter how many hours I put in.
The big problem is they didn't fire many of the original Trino loser employees that destroyed the game (like BigDataDude who was well known for driving off many of the whale players and instituting bans against those who reported Chinese bots!). The game will never, ever come back until Kakao takes the TRASH out!
man, watching this video and cryy's footage just makes me think of how enjoyable this game was, even with all of the problems that it did have, which caused all of us to leave eventually. So much wasted potential because of greedy devs and publishers. I just hope they can make something good out of it.
The thought of this game, legit makes me wanna cry. This is my favorite mmo, of all time. There was so much you could do, So much content, so much fun. The PvP was fantastic, so many awesome builds you could make. There is a grind and a meta but it didn't stop me from enjoying it. It was the most fun I've ever had in an MMO, sailing the seas with my friends, steal fishing boats, the dungeons, the raids, the open PvP. Ugh, i so wish this game would of been the success it should of got. I will most likely play it again when they take over and drop it. I know i will enjoy a few months of it and possibly relive the fun i did have. I will never understand the greed, you'd make more money if you listen to the player base and keep them around, instead of making half the player base quit to please a small core group of players. I can only hope they will get it right this time.
Man I get your feeling, remember the clusterfuck that was farming your Hasla weapons? All the small battles here and there, the bad blood between guilds, the jury system, the economy the PvP.... Archeage launched with such ambitious features most mmos can only dream of, my hopes are on Archeage 2 for now but even if somehow they could bring the old Archeage back... I'd jump into that in a heartbeat.
@@nxamaya That was some of my favorite moments tbh, There was always good fights to be had at Hasla. I loved being able to flag on people that would come in and try to steal your farming spot. I didn't even know if AA2 was a real thing or not, if it is, i assume its far away. I hope they do a classic server, that would really bring me a lot of joy and lots of fun to be had to relive those memories.
While that would be great and I like your thinking, it’s simply not true. Whales account for merely around 2% of a game’s audience on average but they make more revenue for devs than the remaining ~98% in many cases. That’s why they are driven by greed. It’s a quick and effortless cash grab.
@@Wrld_Nme It's hard, you need a subscription model or to sell cosmetics, personally I think games where you can flex important MTX like FF14 or OSRS prevail over the cosmetic system F2P games very often provide. The last option is P2W or pay for convenience which are both awful design choices imo, that makes it so in my head any MMO who doesn't offer a b2p experience with xpacs or a sub is going to be fucking shit and I havn't seen any worthwhile argument to prove me otherwise

@@adamkantar2493 Gamigo took over my main game, fired most people, sucked it dry all the while it was actually doing decent and was a good revenue maker for them, yet they didnt promote the game or add anything of any real effort. They continued to suck it dry for 3 years and fired everyone down to the point there are 0 devs and just one person-a CM-who barely is there. Buying a game and trying to save its life is one thing; buying a game and purposefully beating the life out of it while pumping it with morphine to barely keep it alive is just cruelty, and actually what they do. These games could have been in better hands for sure.

Archeage at launch I actually thought was really enjoyable, enjoyed the PVP and actually felt unique with the class combinations. Not sure about Kakao but maybe it's worth a shot.

Alpha Archeage was honestly one of the best games ever. My memories of the guild Navarchy, and the fun we had will never die. (unlike the game itself sadly enough)

AA was prob my favorit game.. it had EVERYTHING i was looking for in a mmo... i was enjoying the "relaunch" untill the bug with the pass went out of hand. making players having top tier weps armor and ships.. but the game in it self is soooooo fucking cool... ofc there is cookiecutter builds but the fact there was like what 180 diffrent classes. i loved it. and the music while standing afk..

@@baska- Totally. Games in general used to be a form of entertainment and it was not all about profit, but now its all about as much profit as possible and forgetting about the entertainment part. Companies need to understand that games should be games and should target for a decent profit and not just milking all the players.
I loved Archeage when I came out. The ability to put custom images on your ship's sails was what made me start doing art. I do basically nothing else but draw now, and I love it.

I tried Archeage for the first time when unchained launched and it was actually fun. Leveling pvp felt pretty cool around the level 30 range and onwards.

Archeage unchained at launch was some of the most fun I've had playing an mmo. Sad to see the game almost completely dead now. It could have been amazing.
I don't know man... Hiram and the way they changed the game really turned me off in Unchained. Many people who first played in Unchained have not experienced the game on its prime, which was imo so good.
Tried to go back and play about 6 months ago. It was sad. My gear score was so far behind the no lifers, no family to join, 15 people in major city tops.
Pleaaaassseee keep us posted on everything that happens with this! I loved AA on release. I loved unchained on release. And this is one of the few mmos I can sink hundreds of hours into, but just like everyone else I always left when the management failed the players. If this is finally done right, I can die happy…after my hundred thousandth hour of game time lol
ArcheAge was so good. So many fond memories, so many friendships were made. After a certain point people were getting more and more annoyed by the armor upgrade system, the Thunderstruck seeds and many more problems. I was the last man standing from our guild and I was there when our guild house was marked for demolition. That was the last day I logged in.
Aw man watching Cryy play again T.T I love Archeage and I've played every fresh start in hopes it turns out finally where it's supposed to be. I'll be playing the fresh start again. Lets hope they pull it off right THIS time.
Archeage slowly went from a great sandbox with interesting mechanics like massive battles over unprotected farms due to the value of thunderstruck trees, trade runs and ships to slowly progressing up to a boring 1-2 hour daily gear grind simulator that got old so fast. You basically created your own adventure , now its just daily's and 1 shot pvp. The only way this game succeeds is if they base this release on classic 1.0 archeage, with some changes based off that.
You should give ffxiv a shot. It renewed alot of peoples interest in the genre. I still play it myself. Honestly wish we could have more successful mmos haha 😅
I miss this game. I loved what it brought. Devoting time and grouping up with the alliance to make a massive 60 man trade convoy in hopes of combatting the Oran Thule Zerg.
they made a new discord for the game today and the cms there answered questions more clearly than gamigo ever did. it might be just me being on hopium but i see this change being a net positive for the game
Unless they plug all the holes that made the game sink il never get burned again. So many exploits were abused, known exploits that have been known for years and never fixed, every time a new patch came around you could be sure some rats would get crazy rich exploiting. Some serious work on the CS would need to be done as well the p2w was too horrible especially at endgame, it was like night and day between those that didnt p2w and those that did.
Archeage will probably always be the MMO with the most potential I've ever played. It did many things right, alas the ever so important endgame ended up with a zergfest on land that the game couldn't cope with. But... I've never been sent to a trial proceeding and ultimately been put in jail in any game since. I haven't stealth-dived for miles worth my clan mates to be able to get the jump on a fishing armada and rob them blind in a game since. I haven't been guarding a bunch of planted trees high up in the mountain watching out for lightning strikes and thieves since either. Many moments will stay with me for a very long time ;). Hope they do it right so more people can experience some of it.
Sadly i think the game went in a bad direction by the time 6.0+ hit Xlgames killed many many things that made the game enjoyable. Kakao would have to rebuild it almost from the ground up to make it into something players enjoyed and would flock to, i doubt they'll invest that much into it though especially with AA2 in the work.
I hope eventually we will have multiplayer games like this but battlepasses are profitable and they can make it seem fair by including a free battlepass. I cant see companies moving away from that anytime soon.
I think regarding the "is it publisher or devs doing the p2w" is partially on the publisher (trying to negotiate changes, get things removed etc) and mostly on the devs (forcing the issue, ok we'll do "this" but not "that") imo. But we can never truly know tbh.
I've obviously always looked back fondly on my time playing Archeage way back in the day. I'm not sure if what was so great then about it would resonate as much in 2021/2022 though.
Damn I knew Gamigo was the pits, but your personal account of dealings with them is hell. It's a shame Rift ended up in the hands of such a fail to profit company.
Loved the housing and farming, played, and invested too much time and money in it. I hated the PVP but I loved to steal people's crops that they tried to plant in remote places. Ended up playing alone, with 4+ pumpkin patches and a house. I had honey, cheese, cow, sheep, all the stupid high-end crafting crap. But! No fucking friends nor guild. When I left, I was sitting on more than 60 trading packs. It was around Christmas. I said in chat. "Merry Christmas! I am leaving, giving these for free!" No one believed me at first, then a few people showed up then more. I gave away everything, people called me stupid. I had already sunk more than 5k in this game with daily needs for energy potions to keep up my farms. I also was the first player to own the big merchant ship as a "solo" owner. I traded my stuff alone, and let me tell you that It was stressful as fuck. I was hugging the PVE zone and waited for safe zone times to trade in everything. I'm never going back. The most expensive game I've ever played in my life.
Didn't even realize who it was without all the checkmarks and flashing arrows on your head. Now if only Kakao could restrain themselves and not stuff it with pay2win, maybe its worth another shot. Game itself can be tremendous.
my first experience with AA was amazing. My guildmates & I crossed the ocean to small tiny island in the middle of ocean and exchange items with trade pack that each of us carrying our own. You only get 2 precious items, and you will need that to craft the most important items in game. We were followed by gang of pirates from left, Red faction from rights to take over our merchant ships. 15 of us are racing time against our death and our gold. We did made to the island and got our items and dead. That was 1 out of 3 we tried, and we will do that again as adventuring with pirates and reds.
I love fishing. I love the fishing boat. I love fishing as skull knight tank and ppl gank you and are never able to kill you. I love archage. I will play it for the 3rd time knowing it wont last long and will fail at the end but still i will love it and will have a great time.
There is an Archeage private server called ArcheRage that seems to be doing well. Maybe Kira should do a video on that and how it differs itself from the retail version of the game.
Archeage as it released was probably the closest modern fantasy MMORPG to Eve online that ever came out. Two of my favourite games, though two which I would never touch again. AA had so much potential on release and my group had some of the most fun we've had together in a game on there, starting out as peppy upstarts stealing people's forests, and slowly becoming the main players on the pirate faction. Like eve, it was also a game where a small coordinated group could do exceptionally well against a much larger group.
As a founder originally ($150 not-well spent..), all I care about is if they have fixed the combat table. My Defense/Battlerage/Auramancy unkillable tank was just absurd, given how the combat table worked. The land-grab using full-inventory chest spam for Daru tokens was also ridiculous. No hope of getting a plot of land due to being able to "click" on territory boards from anywhere in the world, made bot-plot purchasing another sore point.
I desperately miss how ArcheAge was at launch. Their naval combat and trade route systems were so much fun! Early ArcheAge was the most fun I've ever had in an MMO.
I only played AA for a really short amount of time, but I had a ton of fun there. Ever since Steparu released videos years ago, I got hooked by it's aesthetics and the world. I really hope Kakao manages to pull this game in a new and better direction, but I'll be careful with my hopium
Never gonna forget grinding for something cool like the red baron glider or the dungeon mounts like the lions just to loose the feeling of acomplishment to the season pass rewards.
One of the best MMO's I've ever played, and I've played a damn lot of them. The only reason it's ever died is because those running it go full greed mode and destroy the game. Kakoa will likely mess it up though just like all the others so.... maybe give it a go but don't have high hopes under Kakao's management. Ignore quest text and just rush to lvl 30, get your farm and put it down somewhere good. You'll probably be able to find someone that knows the game that can help you with info/gold making etc.
This is the one time I wished the OMEGALUL emote was available on RU-vid but that's because I wasn't invested in Archeage. I understand that people went HARD on Archeage and I hope this new version will be good and bring you and us a great experience. Hope for the best!

I absolutely loved the sanbox AA,before the whole daily simulator themepark bs. It's probably got the best economy systems of any mmorpg. Playing NW now,i always say "Oh god i wish NW had, AA type of market ui ect" I miss that game a lot, but I'm not too optimistic.
Where did you hear about an Oceanic version Kira? I've asked on their Discord, and I'm pretty sure it's still just going to be NA/EU with Oceanic players having to play on the NA server, or choosing to play on the XLGames SEA servers through LinePod
Ahh, the debacle known as Archeage Unchained, so bitter sweet! Only good thing that came about it was finding your channel. Jumped ship as soon as the game pass BS and exploits weren’t fixed.
Archeage has a special place in my gaming heart. I played the game for like two months after launch and had a great time, even that the servers were still full and it was basically impossible to get free spot for house. Farming, trading and housing systems felt great, especially years ago. After a year I have started a new character with my girlfriend who was new to the game and really loved it. We spent few months playing together but the problem was definitely the terrible labor point system, lack of proper end game content and for me personally the inability to progress through the main quest line because of some poor area and time lock design. I was tempted to try it again after re-release in 2019 but I am glad a did not paid anything for that piece of trash.
I played Archeage original release and Unchained too. I think the main sentiment of the unchained community at that time (before they went full p2w) was that the Archeage that once we knew have become an exhausting daily list of chores... You would spent like 3 to 5 hours JUST doing dailies to not "get behind the curve". And also, you could get multiplied rewards by having more and more alts, this was the worst... People felt obligated to spend their whole day doing dailies and then doing them with alts...
Just 4 things they need to fix to become a perfect game; 1. Labor System 2. Daily Quests 3. Stupid Wide Camera Mode where you can't even see/enjoy your character 4. Auction House where you can purchase your end game gear

As long as they have the switches already built in to turn it into p2w at the drop of a hat, the game will eventually die due to it. Some upper management meeting will happen when they lose 10% profits one month and boom it dies.
i may try this again, but it will be difficult to get convinced. It took at least a few attempts to reach end game because if i missed only a few quests i would be stuck behind, and since the map doesnt show quests id never find them. But in my one successful attempt i was stuck once again where i had to do something that i think required like at least 30 people to participate
I played on a private server for a few months. Even leaving the greedy cashshop out from the last publisher, the end-game sucked so hard that I can't be bothered to try the game again for the 3rd time... Also the game already is kind of a daily/weekly simulator. You need to login in weekly to pay taxes and daily to tend your farms/barns if you had any.
I loved AA, mostly I just farmed and did trade packs. It was so relaxing. For fun, I'd go look for "off the grid" farms to "punish" those tax scofflaws. What drove me away was the botting to snag all the land, and farm-cart griefing to keep you from completing your trade runs. I think I quit way before things got bad.
Archeage ticked so many boxes for me, A great economy system at its core, great world pvp and a world that felt alive while I was playing. It was really sad to see it get torn to the ground, it offered some really unique stuff. I hope this could revive it.
I was a day 1 player way back when this launched, really like the features. It was literally impossible to own any land though (a big part of the game) without paying a fortune to scalpers running bots who snapped it all up second it became available. Never played it beyond that first month. Shame really. It had such potential
one of the biggest base problems of the game was the labor systhem like it was. Either rise the cap massively that you dont have to log in dayly or loose out on valueble progression or make it weekly cap. Something like having x amount you can do a week. Let player decide when they can do stuff and dont push player if they cant ome online. Make it so that you can craft labor potions yourself with the labor you have. It needs to change somehow. Because baseline its a gamemechanik that only exist for pay to win mechanics.
Why does Archeage need to be rebooted again??? I would love for WildStar to be rebooted and managed correctly. I feel like Wildstar could be successful at this time with other games struggling.
It's not even Archeage being rebooted that's the issue, it's the management that's the issue. It's genuinely such a good MMO which is why they keep redoing it for quick money, it'd last a damn long time and make a hell of a lot more money if it had decent management though instead of pure greed.
I was lucky to play this game at launch, the best experience I had in a MMO so far, wars, trading packs, fishing, pirates, 1vs1 pvp.. this game was a definition of a good mmo but trion killed it! never going back but i will never forget the time I played Archage and all friend I made.
OG Archeage was hands down the best MMORPG I ever played, and I've tried to find a game like that since. Now I'm just waiting for Archeage 2 hoping it will be like 1.7-2.0 patches of Archeage, with extra content and balance following in the game's original direction, rather then the hiram atrocity loved playing archeage even under trino up to 3.0 patch, loved playing it on private server up to 3.5 patch, I can only hope I get more og style Archeage by the time New World is deserted (yeah, I'm not very optimistic about NW, can you blame me), I know it's a naive dream, but let me dream a bit longer
Sometimes I wonder if it's even possible to balance the combat so that more than 10 or so classes are actually viable. The game did originally boast... something like 200 or so possible class combinations? If they could somehow pull that off, it would really add to the sandbox experience.
Man I miss that game. I played the beta, then had to give it up for work. Then played unchained for 3 months and again had to go away for work. And boom now we have a grain of hope for a better version...
I'll love to hear updates on this. I don't trust archeage to do another launch properly unless a big name picks it up but I'd love to hear whether or not it turns into a dumpster fire
Biggest mistake as an mmo player I've made was being a Founder of the original Archeage release. The game was fun for a while even with it's problems, but what destroyed it for me was a combination of pay to win and player mentality. That's why I gave up on trying to gear up and became a bard. You can only improve it so much before it devolves back into a Toxic mess again. The premise of the game has a lot of promise, but gamers have changed. Pvpers take no accountability so the community will be a mess of drama, exploiting, and bots. If there's anyone that still has hope the game will be decent this time around, they'll stick around long enough until the trolls and drama queens outnumber them and move on to something less toxic. I'll miss the ship combat though, it's still way better than BDO where you can clip through each other like they don't exist.
From everything I've heard I think my personal regret was to not put those 200 dollars to play those first 6 months/year of vanilla archeage without cash shop or dailies. I spent way too much time on the game when it was already a milkingfest.. I think those founding months where the best archeage ever had, the peak of it's potential and I'm sad I missed it, even if I know that scam money went to cunts.
@@Shallaan Founder packs giving benefits to something like the first 6 characters you make instead of being something account bound. So if you didn't like a character you made, tough luck. I was one of the few people who had an entirely different problem with all my founder benefits going to just one character so you know several copies of the same glider you can't really use lol. Biggest slap in the face to founders was they just kept releasing new packs that had even better items than what the founders got. They didn't care who supported (or put up with) them the longest, just the money they could get.
Just a year ago, one was watching @TheLazyPeon as he was trying to find any interesting mmos out there that we lack any of. Now rather than watching channels like Peon's hoping for something new, it's more entertaining to wach @KIraTV finding a new scam/vaporware/shitty P2W korean mmo every day, keep it up!
I bought 2 accounts for ArcheAge Unchained, including the top tier one as I was stupidly optimistic about it. Soon afterwards, I had my home internet connection fuck up (yay Australian NBN) and it took months to resolve. I'd missed my "fresh start", and by then, ArcheAge Unchained had changed. Instead I played ESO, but I still wished for the ArcheAge that could have/should have been. Thanks for your video. I'm thoroughly enjoying FF14 for the first time, but I think I'll claim my ArcheAge accounts just in case.
Honestly you're hitting the exact points of why this game failed and what they would have to do to make it relevant and enjoyable. I hope (though have big doubts) that they can change what is needed for this game to be what it should have been.
Archeage actually is amazing! The endgame conflict about bosses is totally unseen in any other MMO. The PVP and combat is topnotch. And there are dozens of ways to generate wealth in the game. The gearing is also very gradual and lengthy for those that love such a thing. And there are several nice class choices for the core types like melee , archers , healers , tanks. The mechanics are all very in depth.
ok.. but what about Archeage 2? you mentioned its currently on development by XL gaming at 00:53. So the question is.. "Is kakao getting over the control of archeage2 too or not"?
They should balance the crafting too, cooking mana soups became so useless because the items and skills you can have. They should bring back Obsidian too for multiple builds.
Btw I agree in that I enjoyed archeage for sure bro. Amazing at its peak in alpha and launch. and i even enjoyed AAU especially the pvp since I had a much better grasp on AA and MMOS but the daily age stuff eventually put me off. and the exploits in the arch pass etc.
