Welcome back to another coaching case study!
In this video, Coach Jarryd works with Ilias Katsapouikidis "Ilias the Greek". They use video analysis to screen technique and identify form issues, and identify a few key elements that will make a BIG impact on Ilias' scores... and maybe yours as well!

Absolutely brilliant video guys! Thanks so much. Lots of food for thought and so much to absorb and I'll definitely be re-watching this. There were 3 "Does that make sense?"'s from Jarryd and one "Does that make sense?" from Ilias during the video review session bit. 😅 Cheers guys! Top quality content!

This is exactly what I've been looking for. You're in my opinion one of the best archery teachers on the world wide web. I love the way you explain the physics of each technique that you teach. It really confirms what my vision of expansion is and how to achieve that goal.

I must say, this is by far one of the best videos ive seen on this topic. And Ive seen a LOT of these videos! Very good! I will certainly practice the CCD myself as it varies HUGELY how many seconds it takes before the clicker goes. (from 1 to 10 seconds….) Really nice. Ill check around on the other vids in this channel as well

That's amazing! Yes we covered a lot of group in this video, but my advice is to remember the emphasis on technique structure as a prerequisite to CCD's. CCS# 1 and 2 cover a lot of this, and even in this video we address Ilias' head movement and pre-draw before moving on to expansion work. 💪🏹🎯🔥 Welcome back to the curve! Would love an update on your progress!

did I mention that was full time. I know what makes a great teacher. I strive for that most every day. you have all the details an drills and tricks down. just try to maintain the enthusiasm and pass down what you have learned to future instructors. was thinking there is great similarity with back yard archery and novice archers, any big differences other than anchor point?
@RogueArcheryTV
@RogueArcheryTV 2 года назад
Thanks Bill! Ofcourse, archery is a very technical sport when you advance towards competition level. In particular, to get to high level competition, the technique fundamentals are absolutely critical! If you enjoyed this one then you should watch my earlier coaching case studies (if you haven't already), as it goes through the technique structure more. 👍

That was really good. I am a new barebow archer--started a year ago. I like the systemic approach in this coaching video, where it shows how these are all interrelated pieces, one leading into each other. I really like the concept of fluidity and timing. Naturally, I do not have a clicker, but these concepts translate to barebow. Just not sure what the expansion phase is for me yet. Thank you for this.

To make expansion clicker is to make an alignment after making a full draw?
@RogueArcheryTV
@RogueArcheryTV 2 года назад
Think about it this way. The instant when your clicker drops is the moment when you should be in 100% perfect structure and alignment. The expansion is the phase where you move from 99.5% into 100%.

Jarryd I'm just watching this video and I see when he's in set up, correct me if I'm wrong, but is he slightly aligning his shoulders first before he looks at the target and then raises the bow? It looks that way and if so, It's it correct to start aligning the shoulders in set up position? When I do it, I'm new to all this by the way, I start to align my shoulders when I'm almost shoulder high if u get me. It does make the hole move more visible but when he's doing some of the shoulder alignment in set up, it looks less visible during pre draw. It looks good. When I watch the likes of u and other pro archers, I'm always wondering how when they're getting into alignment, it's not very noticeable, as in I don't see alot of rotating compared to when I'm doing it myself. It looks great and I'm just trying to figure out how it happens that way.
@RogueArcheryTV
@RogueArcheryTV 5 месяцев назад
This is a really perceptive comment James. 1. Yes, you're correct. We didnt address it in this video, but he is aligning his shoulders in Set-up position, which is too early. The correct way is to compelte shoulder alignment during Pre-draw phase, after raise. It is also very common for archers to start aligning their shoulders "on the way up", but what I teach is that the shoulders should be open to the target from Set-up to raise, and then From Raise to Pre-draw the shoulder alignment is achieved through thoracic rotation. More on that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mm9eVw6LE1k.htmlsi=eLL0xArbJCol2Ud1&t=179 And here: archerymasterclass.com/courses/technique-fundamentals-for-recurve-archery/lectures/30290304 2. The link above (the Pre-draw module from the Rogue Archery masterclass) also addresses the 'fluidity' question (around the 18 minute mark). I hope that helps! Keep me posted on your progress updates.

@RogueArcheryTV
@RogueArcheryTV 2 года назад
No high draw here. Basically, the archer should not draw in a way in which the arrow could go out of bounds. Raising above the target is acceptable. You can read the WA rules here: worldarchery.sport/rulebook/article/877
