speaking from a target archer's perspective, going from that whisker biscuit to a drop away still considered easy. Try using a blade rest, the arrow won't stay on your rest during your draw cycle if your form is flawed. Learning about target archery will allow you to accelerate your progress and fix your release as well. A hinge or back tension release might help you with punching. Happy shooting.
@@whatisarchery I thought I would also add this too. I shoot right handed as you do. When I knock my arrow, I use my left hand thumb thats holding the bow to cock the QAD when the arrow is knocked with my right hand. Very easy.
Exactly what @echampine said. Use your left to flip up arrow rest as your nocking your arrow. After 15-20 shots it'll feel more natural! Keep up the videos, loving seeing more of us getting into this!
Just found the channel and binge watched over the last 2 days. From the improvement I’ve seen since that first vid to this one those deer better be scared baby!!! What would be sick is to see your progression in bow hunting just like you’ve showed us on your journey learning to shoot! I hope you take us along!
Your form looks awesome compared to when you started. Use what you like not what other tell you are better, if you prefer the whisker bisket then use it. Archery is mostly personal preference, not so and so on RU-vid or Instagram says this is the best thing ever.
@@whatisarchery That's one thing I love with archery, is there are so many things to try. Been archery shooting and hunting for almost 15 years and I still am changing things almost one thing a year.
Yeah i get it. I started shooting my bow just back in May. Totally new. Started with a used Hoyt Defiant. Im hooked. Ofcourse i had to start low poundage. 52yrs old with a prior shoulder issue and absolutely no bow strength. Practice practice practice. I just bought a pse fortis 33 70# but at 63#. I don't know that I will draw 70 ever due to the shoulder. Live shooting my bow. And I enjoy your enthusiasm young man. Keep it up@whatisarchery
Saw a really good technique for shooting an index style release to prevent punching. So first it needs to be pretty short on the length so that the trigger is in the first knuckle joint so you really curl around it. Then basically make the 👌 symbol but the index finger is on the outside of the thumb, like on your thumb nail. This way you HAVE to pull through the shot to activate the trigger instead of just curling the index finger. Hard to describe but I did my best LOL.
Good form, great groups and great video. I think it’s great that you are so happy when you’re shooting. I feel the same way and I’ve been doing it for 40 years. Keep up the great work.
I used some serving string and wrapped it several times around the bow string and tied it. Made a little bump I could easily feel with the tip of my nose. And I could slid it easily as needed to find the perfect spot. Those Bowmar buttons are expensive IMO.
moving on up, to the east side, to some deluxe equipment on the bowoo... lol nice to it back in action you will get used to the new stuff just like you did with the other stuff.. now tell me what show that was from ....God Bless man
@@whatisarchery So I used to have that rest too and what I found more fluid was to keep my bow grip on and just move my thumb over to flip the paddle, then with my right hand I would get my arrow and slide it through the now flipped up arm of the rest and nock it. That way you dont have to move your hands back and forth, also right after the arrow is nocked your hand is right there to put on your release. Just flip that puppy with the left hand thumb, slide the arrow through it and your are read to go.
something is making a noise when you draw id find that and fix it a deer will hear that for sure and get a nose button I think you will like better then the kisser and it wont slow your bow down like the kisser they are like 15-16 bucks on amazon the bowmar nose button
Have some quality shafts, that I’ll fletch and send. The arrow when drawn, should be about 1/2” - 1” in front of the rest arm. Up to you, but happy to make a few and send your way! Keep it up!
Want to send you 1/2 dozen Victory RIP TKO 300 Elite Arrows. Just need to know whether you prefer AAE, TAC or DCA Super Sabres. 3 or 4 fletch. Color. You’ll need to ask your pro shop to help you arrow paper tune, because they’ll most likely fly different than what you have. I’m thinking 3 fletch with the Super Sabres. Great, and cool looking, vanes. I’ve got them in green, orange, yellow, pink, blue and white.
From what I can see is that you tap on the trigger a couple times and then slap the trigger. You're not doing this on all shots. You're doing great! The more practice you get, the better you will be.
@@whatisarchery yea it can be done my sons buddy got into bow hunting last year and he had a whisker cause after getting his mathews bow arrows broadheads a release a good site and a tree stand he didnt have any funds left for that plus he had his first child on the way, but we got it done was a giant pain in butt he was using a cut on contact 3 blade head the hard part is no micro adjust and I would always go just a little to much one way or the other plus he was not very consistent with his shot...
