i guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I love any tips you can give me!
@stephen7072 but the thing I most respect about this show is no other show would really show what an average father and boyfirend, son etc in the 60s or 70s was dealing with, especially Archie and Mike. trust me my father and older brother was somewhat the same regarding the draft and Nixon
What totally blows me away is that Archie is suppose to be only 49 years old in this scene. HELL, I am 63 yrs old as I type this! Archie was just a youngster in this scene.........just a kiddo!
yeah, they must have taken liberty with that number....im 56 as i type this, and carroll oconnor in this scene looks a good dozen or more years older than I do. comon, hes 100% white haired, what little he has left. if he's 49 there , I'll eat my hat
You beat me to this comment. He was brilliant. The mannerisms, the facial expressions, the situational reactions. This man made you love Archie Bunker including his flaws.
Used to watch this show with my dear grandmother back in the 70's. Laughed like crazy. Social commentary while incredibly funny. Never done as well before or since. Bravo Norman Lear.
@@dirtydragon9 - He may well have been. But like with Walter Cronkite, Carol didn't wear it on his sleeve and smash his fans face in it every chance he got (like Rob Reiner has done forever). As Michael Jordan once famously said when asked why he's not more political, "Because Republicans buy sneakers too." These asshats like Reiner in Hollywood would do well to take MJ's advice to heart.
@@dirtydragon9 oh where do I start? Maybe the entitled attitude that they demand everyone who has different opinions or attitudes should think exactly like them? You loons think and preach tolerance.....you never practice it. Maybe....just maybe you should practice what you constantly preach with such condescending attitude? You would do very well to not act like Michael in this clip and understand what your elders have been through and why they think like they do.
@@dirtydragon9 how tolerant are you to other peoples beliefs? How tolerant to yours do you expect everyone else to be? Does that answer your question? In simple terms, leave us alone and we will do likewise. Is it so hard?
Actually Archie was wrong. At the time this Conversation took place, Gil Hodges was the manager. Since Gil Hodges died in 1972 in spring training, this was probably 1971. The Mets won the pennant in 1973. In the conversation they never mentioned the World Series
The Mets haven't won the World Series since. At least they're doing better than the Red Sox and the Cubs. Red Sox won in 2004. Their first time since 1918 and the Cubs went over a century without winning the World Series. Uncle Buck would be proud of the Cubs either way.
The Red Sox won their last World Series in 2004. Their first in 86 years. The Cubs won their last World Series in 2016. Their first time in 108 years. The Mets won their last in 1986. 32 years ago this fall. That's how the Mets are doing better than the Red Sox and Cubs.
The episode where Edith damages the car (belonging to a priest) is classic ! So glad it was filmed before the great scandals ( that as MSM informs all, only Catholic priests were/are guilty of this great sin). Ah, one day Truth will out.
Yeah, when I was a kid I thought he was okay, but I grew up and I realized he is just an annoying obnoxious selfrighous liberal, I think they are all the same.
I’m 36 yrs old and grew up on all the great shows...bunker was one of them... could you imagine the Jeffersons or all in the family in this cancel culture now...
We had one in the White house and you see what happened to our country!he led thee attack on the capital! TV people are acting not Trump he was the real thing!stay safe people!
In the original pilot episode, in which the show was called Justice For All (1968), Michael was already living with the Bunkers. However, his name wasn't Michael but Richard- a college hippie. They kept the character Gloria . But the family's last name was Justice not Bunker. The theme song in the second pilot was also its title: Those Were The Days (1969). The 1970-1971 aired pilot episode was All In The Family It used the same plotline from the original unaired pilot. A little trivia: of the three pilot episodes, Those Were The Days is the only one not to have the world All in its title. In case you're wondering, Tim McIntire played Richard in the original pilot and Gloria was played by Kelly Jean Peters.
@@MichaelSmith-zh2px For years people thought the original unaired pilot was lost. If I'm not mistaken, it was the first to use videotape. There are some fun things to look for in the 1968 pilot: microphones just above the set, the set is slightly slanted (especially by the front door), Gloria accidentally hits a lampshade while serving Archie and Edith orange juice and Edith's party hat falling off when she accidently bumps into part of the low hanging ceiling. All in all its a great episode. What makes it somewhat unique, is that it was filmed in the middle of the protests happening at the time.
It was almost a cancelled show. Then, suddenly (word of mouth ?) it started to get viewers. Back then, the Big-twigs in management gave a series & its characters time to develop. Note the change in ‘’tone’ with Edith & even Archie. Good thing old Lear stuck with it.
At 62 I still love this show The content is motivated by an effort to simply people laugh and as the years have passed it's just as funny as it was way back when
I *CAN'T BELIEVE* I am *OLDER* than Archie here in the 1970's. I mean this guy looks *well into* his 60's. He *doesn't* look like a guy who is *only* 49.
You're damn right they can't Butthurt libtard cream puffs are destroying the country. Ffs... why don't they just get a testosterone shot and enjoy life
The *ONLY* reason you "people" enjoy it so much is because you never understood that Archie is a satirical character and is meant to highlight those peoples' ignorance. Carroll O'Connor played the part with brilliance!
Today's SJW's would have a conniption and start crying for a boycott. 70's sitcoms dealt with real life situations so much better than most people do these days.
And they say Millennials are self-entitled. Gloria and Mike planned on Mike going to school while leaching off of mom and dad without asking them first.
Indeed. They had all the opportunities and are the most privileged generation that has ever lived. www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_boomers. I'm a Millennial and they drive me crazy. My dad's a boomer and he got fired from his job back in the 80s and then waited until 3 years after he and mom finally divorced before getting another one, which he only worked for 5 years. Mom barely could support us and then was stupid enough to have 2 more kids when I was 6. I was an only child until then. Dad's now retired and collecting a pension.
usually when an actor portrays a character as great as Archie Bunker he gets typecast and it’s hard 2 see them in another role. it’s a great credit to Carrol O’Connor’s talent that he was able 2 portray another character (Heat of the Night)and b just as good.
Yes and if you are going to expect for a man to allow you to live with him for four years, you humble yourself to him. Also dress real nice and not come with bad clothing as well as a not groomed beard. Yes Archie was a racist and yes he was ignorant but Meathead should of swallowed his pride until he got to know him better.
That was my first thought too. You're a guest in his house, being served dinner. You don't have to agree with Archie's opinions, but you have to respect his right to have them. Instead, Meathead becomes belligerent, condescending, and insulting, calling him "ignorant". Archie should've booted his ass out of the house immediately for that remark.
@@mrsTraveller64 Yes. After he, Gloria and Joey moved to California, they later divorced and Mike went to live on a commune with one of his students after he was fired from his teaching position. Gloria and Joey later moved back to New York and Gloria became a Veterinary assistant. The only reason they had Mike and Gloria divorce was because Rob Reiner didn't want to be on the show anymore, due to being more interested in directing.
Had to be that way. That’s the way all the signals were pointing. Hollywood was at the controls. Look at Sanford. Other black led sit-coms. I’m glad the black American actors got their day in the sun, so to speak. But, God bless us, whitey is not always in the wrong. They’re always ‘D’s”, though. Some things never change.
Famously at odds on “All in the Family,” Archie (Carroll O’Connor) and Meathead (Rob Reiner) are in full political agreement, with O’Connor handing over $5,000 to the Democrats and Reiner a whopping $52,500.
