Written by band members Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman, Stewart came up with the idea for the song after his wife of eight years asked him why he didn't say "I love you" more often.
This track dates from 1975 and is considered one of the greatest songs of all time. The background sounds were made by taping and retaping the bands vocals ending up with over 100 tracks. Very innovative in its day. There are videos about the making of this track that are worth watching. This version has a horrible cut about 1 minute from the end.
What he said. This song is great because it was meticulously crafted with insane skills. Also, I love how many dudes say he's NOT in love, when he so clearly is.
The lead singer was having breakfast with his wife and she was complaining that he doesn't say I love you anymore, so he wrote it from the point of view of someone who is so in love that he's afraid to admit it to himself.
One of the most beautiful songs, ever! I got engaged right before this, and I felt so bad for this girl, until I realized he’s sooooo in love, he can’t help but deny it! The background layers are their voices!
The lyrics aren't mean. It's about a guy who is frightened at the feelings he's having and denying that he's in love with this girl, even though he clearly is. It's more sad and sweet than "mean"
I'm so glad you got it. It physically hurts me when people don't. But I don't think he was being mean, it's more like he's trying to convince himself he's not. The target of his love doesn't buy his denial, I'm sure.
I am from the UK and, and my mid sixties now, so my formative musical years were the 1970's. Listening to this track and many others, from this decade, and in some cases, for the first time in many years. It struck me watching this video, how very lucky, I and many others, were to live through such a rich, golden period of great music. And also, how blase I was, oblivious to the epic soundtrack, playing in the background. But rediscovering the music, has put a huge smile on my face................
Its a groundbreaking song and was cutting edge when it came out. The instrument you are asking about are hundreds of peoples voices played through a synth. Lastly the name 10cc, well that meaning isn't what you're thinking it is lol. I will let you find that one out 🙂
It is about his wife complaining that he doesn't tell her that he loves her when all the signs of the opposite were there ,he was being sarcastic because she wasn't paying attention at all...
Yeah you're not understanding the song correctly my friend. It's about the lead singer and his wife. He was on the road so much and they weren't together very often. So they got in an argument because she said that he doesn't say he loves her anymore. He felt by saying it all the time it devalues the meaning of love. So he wrote the song opposite of how he really felt. It's a brilliant piece. 🎤🎸🎥🎧
It's not an instrument. It's their voices. The girl who did the "Be quiet..big boys don't cry " was an office worker in the studio who tried to run away when they asked her to help them on their song. She was so scared.
That is not an instrument. That is the band doing all the octaves and then them looping it over the 100 different versions and then playing all them back and playing it over the mixing board. The woman saying "Big Boys don't cry" was the studio secretary and the tingling is a Christmas ornament. They could never play this song live and it sound likethis.
Check out the version " night of the proms " in the Neatherlands from some years ago .It will blow away any idea that this classic couldn't be performed live on stage .
The harmony harmony is in this song is the four members of the group singing over and over and over again on a four track, and then the four track went to a track. They ended up with something like 120 voices singing in the background, which sounds like a choir 4 people
Rumour has it that the band's name refers to the quantity of male ejaculate. Just saying. Whatever, you should listen to the full length version as this is spoilt by cropping. Definitely an all-time classic and probably the 1970s most iconic love song. Brilliant.
Nice review and i was going to suggest that to really appreciate this work of art one needs to listen to the longer original album version .I never thought this classic could be reproduced live on stage until i heard the one of the band with full orchestra and choir at the night of the proms in the Neatherlands 2019 which shows the capacity of how deep the human voice can touch ones soul and is simply wonderful on the ears .Here it is :) ❤ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WMjPJTPdPm4.htmlsi=7YoYTcOQYLkmyYGq

The Stains on the Wall is the fighting her and smashing things over the wall and making stains... Not NEW Love but OLD Love you know how we feel when you lost something we can never have back.. I am Not in Love means he will never have that Love he ONCE had.. BIG BOYS DON'T CRY, BIG BOYS DON'T CRY, BIG BOYS DON'T CRY, BIG BOYS DON'T CRY... BTW love the Ah Haa Shirt
not true, actually his wife complained he didnt say i love you much, he replied if he kept saying it, might weaken his "i love yous", so he decided to write this love song, which is one of the greatest
