I caught up with Arcimoto CEO/Founder Mark Frohnmayer to discuss his new partnership with Sandy Munro, to help bring the FUV into mass production. These are two of my favorite people in the EV/transportation world, and I think Sandy Munro will add a lot of value to Arcimoto's production ramp. His industry expertise can cut costs, improve ramp speed, and bring decades of Detroit experience to Arcimoto's team. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

I'm a huge fan of Arcimoto. The CEO is transparent in a way thats refreshing and never bragadocious. Bringing Sandy's team aboard is the perfect move to help maximize the efficiency of the vehicle prior to high volume output. Its much better for Sandy to find the little ticks than customers, which would lead to negative feedback on review sites and social media. I wish Nikola took more of this approach. Instead, they brag about being better than Tesla which they clearly aren't and have zero deliveries to date. Great job Arcimoto & HyperChange!!

Agree, I think Nikola are just Bullies . and they are Burning through cash, while Failing to Execute. I think , for better or worse for Arcimoto , Munro will make the Platform better.

Absolutely my feeling, Mark's great, which is the reason I invested in Arcimoto (and Elon for Tesla). I wish Nikola the best but they don't impress in the same way and have a ton of execution to prove before getting any credence

The timing is kind of perfect. If you want to improve your manufacturing process the best time to do it is right BEFORE you build up scale. That will allow them to make the most our of this partnership.

Domino's already put out bids for a similar vehicle and has them in use. Back in 2009, I had a scooter (Yamaha Razz - 35 MPH with upgrades) and delivered Jimmy John's. Gas was only a few bucks a week. The Deliverator has a near-perfect compartment. Not sure if certain types of catering orders will fit. Trying to transport fountain drinks is a fool's errand - but this is a requirement for some restaurants. So I think the Deliverator will need to eventually have some flexibility in setup for the compartment.

@@Nphen - Japan has been Delivering HOT Ramen & Fresh Noodles since 1950's. even Today Fresh Ramen delivery is Popular. they mostly Deliver on Honda Super Cub 124cc Scooter and similar Scooter, and they use a Counter Balancing Food/Drink holder, and can Transport 4 Bowls of Hot Ramen without Spilling. because the Deliverator is a Trike, its MORE stable than a Scooter that has to Lean into Corners . the Deliverator is stable like a Mountain Goat, and does NOT have to Lean .

Big thanks to Gali for the video on Novonix the other day up 218% at present, should have put a load more in to it. Great to see Arcimoto working with Munro, it's not an easy thing to do, after putting so much work into something and have someone tell you it could be better, but been able to put the ego to one side will help this company no end. Hats off for Mr Frohnmayer.

I did a quick search. In 2017, Electrek reported that Arcimoto was priced at $12,000. The current price is $19,900. Sandy needs to help them get the price down with volume manufacturing. Some folks are whinging on about the need for rapid charging and other expensive features. For me - a 2-seater is going to have to start at less than $18,000.

@@Nphen 20k puts it out of the range of most consumers. For delivery businesses it is a bargain. That should be the companies main focus until they can get the volume of scale to get the consumer price down to the $15k range.

Sandy mentioned that carbon fiber is good for low volume production vehicles, less than 50K/year. I think Arcimoto will have low enough numbers to fit in that category. I wonder how much lighter it would be with carbon fiber frame.

Aaron - Carbon Fiber is very HARD to work with and VERY expensive . Steel Tubing is EASY to Engineer and to BEND into Different Shapes. its Relativly LOW cost and Flexible to work with. as wee seen in the MUNRO video on the "Club Car" , Plastic is Really Cheap & Strong and easy to work with.

@@markplott4820 Whilst I'm a fan of Munro, he's an engineer not a designer, he may have made the "Club Car" cheaper to manufacture, more efficient etc. but it still looks like every other golf cart to me. You can make a lemon out of carbon fiber or plastic but it still looks like a lemon. See my comment on the UDO from India. It has a steering wheel like the Cybertruck whilst this three wheeler is still using handlebars from the 1800s. They seem to be more interested in how many places they can put their logo. Take half of them off and you'd save a few dollars.

I want to see them charge faster. It takes 4 hours to charge one. I want to see them gun for 40 amp 220V 9.6kw chaging. It's like a 13kwh pack.

Fast charging and range is key. Tesla has proven if you get these, you will succeed. I would like to see minimum 100 mile range at highway speed and 30 minute recharge. Compare to a motorcycle.

There are many challenges for getting a large scale adoption: - Price, this will be the most important factor. May be there will be different configurations to allowing getting very competitive entry price. - Daily range, to compromise between price and range. Commuters or delivery person would like a long range so they don't have to charge during the day. - Finding a Charging plug and duration of charging. May be having an easy to carry, like a airplane carry one luggage, to charge at home or at work?

Thanks so very much for making this episode! I was super curious as to why Arcimoto was up so much in the stock market the past few days. I do wish that their batteries had active thermal management, as I believe that I read somewhere that they are simply air cooled, but I'm not totally sure about that. anyhow, they have a really neat product, and I'm also excited for Arcimoto to be learning from Sandy Munro as he is THE MAN!! thanks again...

I hadn't really considered this company. But with Sandy Munro looking at the vehicle, there might be something here. Especially with larger scale production that can get the cost down substantially. If this thing sold for $10k to $15k, it would be very attractive as a city vehicle. Munro would be the guy that can help Arcimoto get there.

Wonderful news! Perhaps some of the Model FUV teardown will make it to RU-vid....? It would be interesting to see some of the Munro suggestions made into YT vids, to build some hype and show the attention to detail, quality, and price point value. It seems the Munro channel blew up pretty quickly - I know I was hooked with Sandy's deep knowledge, classic references to cats ("cracks so big you could squeeze a cat through 'em") and "tuning in" and other phrases I realized I now miss, and suggestions. Getting M & A involved can only benefit your company, and with the number of EV startups so large "you can't throw a cat out the window" without hitting an EV company, this will propel Arcimoto to the forefront of the mini EV space. Well done!

I think a partnership between them and Tesla would be a perfect match. They get help with battery tech and cash infusion. Tesla could get a mfg for the Cyberquad since it would be such small scale and similar to the FUV, sizewise. Add super chargers to the FUV to extend the reach would also be super beneficial. Somehow timed an additional share purchase a couple of days ago just right, up to 5k shares now, I see a bright future for them.

I saw that on their video but it's not a motorbike in as much as it can weave through traffic, it's too wide. How could it get to a fire/accident quicker than a fire truck? And carry what? I think they've made a vehicle and are now struggling to suggest uses for it.

TLESA does not sell its Motors or Batteries to Anyone. there are Many Chinese motor manufactures and battery Manufactures than can Supply ARCIMOTO, for cheaper. many Asian countries have Converted TUK TUK to 100% Electric , with just a Cordless Screwdriver motor and 12v Lead Acid battery, they even Developed battery swap stations.

The idea of Arcimoto is not to go 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. But tesla battery could make a huge diff to its price and future potential. I bet they already tried and Elon said nah uh... or not yet bubba

The thing is, compact cars such as Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa are just as cost effective. They are far cheaper, safer, and carry much more cargo for grocery deliveries. They also protect the drivers from the weather.

I'd like to see an offroad 4 wheel FUV. Something lightweight but can allow side by side driver passenger. These would be great options because current offroad vehicles are massively heavy and regardless of electric or combustion tend to dig up the terrain too much. Some people would like a fun offroad experience without the crazy noise, but not ruin the environment. Would be amazing for farms and large landowners to use. And they wouldn't have to worry about filling up tanks all the time, they can just plug it in to their house or barn and recharge.

rear storage space seems it could easily by double or triple the size - utility not looks. aero dynamics don't matter so much - city driving what 25-35 or maybe 45 max. right??

IF you remove the Rear Seat, its Easily 4x the Storage. and IF you Stomp in the Accelerator at a Stop light, you can Easily go 0 - 75 mph in 8 Seconds.
