I love reading the comments under this video because in most comment section you can't find comments from 8 years ago, it's cool to me for some reason and I don't know why. These people listened to this 8 years ago and today in 2018 I listen to this demo for the first time
I'll always remember this song as the last one I played in our common room at secondary school, as the music faded out, I disconnected my iPod from the speakers and left for the final time, that was 2 years ago, loved this song since it was released, beautiful.
@@Rrob06 I'd say he sounded like this until the second album and then changed it intentionally on Humbug. It's just that he "learned how to sing" more than anything. He just wanted to go in a different direction I think. If you go watch the Teddy Picker video (which is them live), it's not that much deeper than here. Just a bit. And he was like 21 or so there I believe. He just changed his style up mostly, I'd say!
Every now and then, i return to this song and it gives me hope and happiness. Faith in my future and to keep going. Idk, it just gives me that feeling. Phenomenal, arctic monkeys never stop doing what you do, please.
This is so raw, it's amazing... And the topping is the just barely out of tune guitars, makes you feel they've just gotten in a garage together and started playing, so raw...
I love listening to bands debut lp’s, ep’s or whatever and this is so good I wish they would play some music like this again. They have changed their sound sooooo much.
"A Certain Romance" Well oh they might wear classic Reeboks Or knackered Converse Or tracky bottoms tucked in socks But all of that's what the point is not The point is that there ain't no romance around there And there's the truth that they can't see They'd probably like to throw a punch at me And if you could only see them, then you would agree Agree that there ain't no romance around there You know, oh, it's a funny thing, you know? We'll tell them if you like We'll tell them all tonight They'll never listen Because their minds are made up And course it's all OK to carry on that way 'Cause over there there's broken bones There's only music, so that there's new ringtones And it don't take no Sherlock Holmes To see it's a little different around here Don't get me wrong though there's boys in bands And kids who like to scrap with pool cues in their hands And just 'cause he's had a couple of cans He thinks it's alright to act like a dickhead Don't you know, oh it's a funny thing you know We'll tell them if you like We'll tell them all tonight They'll never listen 'Cause their minds are made up And course is all OK to carry on that way But I said no, oh no! Well oh, you won't get me to go Not anywhere, not anywhere No, I won't go, oh no, no? But over there there's friends of mine What can I say, I've known them for a long long time And yet they might overstep the line But you just cannot get angry in the same way No, not in the same way No not in the same way Oh no, oh no, no!
@@biohazard9503 vinyl is considered old and out of touch, by the people of this generation so it’s understandable how someone wouldn’t know of it. I know of it because i’m fluent in the past.
@@johnmarston3264 not really there are a lot of people this generation who collect vinyls and actively use them. It's just very convenient to listen to music on a phone
@@ricek.l9973 yeah i collect old video games and old files all sorts of old stuff, a lot of it’s older than me. but i don’t necessarily connect with vinyl too much cuz just like you said. It’s more convenient on a phone.
ahhh! :( that sucks. i saw them a couple of weeks ago and they didn't play any of those. they played "i bet you look good on the dancefloor" though. i wish i had seen them when they had first started out :/
I imagine playing this song live In front. Of a crowd of people I know in a club where I go myself in a band with my mates and thinkin I’ve made it at 19 years old at 3:45
Beneath the boardwalk was a massive gift for sheffield kids around 04 when it was doing the rounds. We knew we were finally gonna have a voice and be up there with Manchester and Liverpool. That was before they were even signed.
One of the best songs of the decade... now goodnight, it's wayy too late.. It's okay though, cause I have this song to keep me company...WhOOOO!!! Fuck, I'm drunk. I hope i dont get a handgover.
Yeah as said before, the bands get so sick of the songs. And you won't understand until you write a song. I get sick of songs I'm writing when they're not even finished cause you play them over so many times it just gets terrible. Hell, they're probably already sick of Suck It And See.
oh god, you're so right. I mean, there are bands that are okay with that, to play the same tune for 10, 20, 30 years every time live. But although I haven't written a whole lot of songs, I got sick of every one of them at some point lol
@alxturner9 stood near the front, got doused in beer all night but was one of the best experiences of my LIFE!!!!!!!!!! I wish i went to see em in the proper early days down at the boardwalk or summat :(
@simocullen7 I know its annoying... i saw them in Sheffield and during flourescent adolescent they played mardy bum for about 1 minute!!!! the crowd went MAD!!!!! find it on youtube ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!! on the night, it was the songs off the first album that got the place jumping... shame they didn't play many :(
brick by brick is kinda a suckish song when you listen to it. But if you ever get a chance to see them live and they play that song its amazing. the energy and passion put into that song and the bass. Its just amazing so is dont sit down cuz i moved your chair.
@alxturner9 the whole night was a dream... how good was secret door :) brianstorm and do me a favour were immense!!!!!!!!! when the sun goes down was fucking epic too
