My dear old Mum worked there around 1949, I was 13 years old. Went to school in Kingussie. Four or five of us kids went by station wagon to Laggan village then the school bus, I think it was around a 27 mile trip. I was down by the Loch one day, had a rod and a book. Heard a noise behind me, looked around and there was Sir John Ramsden. He asked who I was and I told him my mother worked at Ardverikie and I lived there. He then asked me the name of my book, it was a western by Zane Grey. He remarked that Zane Grey was one of his favourite authors and that he would appreciate it if I would leave it in the library when I was finished with it. He said just ask the Butler to let you in and also that he had a number of westerns in there and I could help myself.
We got married in Ardverikie House in December 2009 it was amazing we had a piper too , we stayed in the gate lodge house and also had a couple of houses on the estate for our guests 😀 loved every moment will definitely go back 😃😃😃
