Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen either Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a co-op commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units use their abilities as directed by a basic AI. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 e-sports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN.
Though this project is a work in progress, and there are errors that will need to be fixed, so point them out if you spot any! The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

Nothing too surprising here. Roaches are well known to be terrible at scaling, it's why roach/ravager isn't something you spend all game doing. Vikings are low DPS, long range units designed for kiting; 30 BCs would probably kill 100 of them, maybe even 120. Surprised how close the tanks came to losing, but 250 is a *lot* of adepts. Lurkers are terrible at sitting in place and fighting since their AOE is linear and not circular; you're meant to pick up and constantly split and move them back to avoid exactly what we saw happen. The last one... man, why does Tya hate Goliaths so much?

Lurkers are supposed to have support. Even if there was like 15 roaches out front, those zealots probably wouldnt have killed more than a couple.

In an actual match, I killed 30 battle cruisers using 20 vikings. But that's partly because of viking range and cruisers slow movement. A similar principle applies in war with destroyers vs battleships.

@@johndoe-ek1qs Also, targeting each BC individually is always better than splitting damage over multiple. That's why these matchups usually end in the most obvious ways. Sometimes they're pretty surprising though.

3/4 Here are my thoughts before the outcomes: Roaches v. Thors/Hellbats: Terran army. I know hellbats suck against Roaches, but I don’t see how this can even be a close battle with the thors behind. Vikings v. BCs: BCs. Again, this cannot be close, especially with Yamada. Unkyted Vikings get destroyed by BCs. Adepts v. Tanks. Adepts. In these videos, the tanks often siege late, and while adepts suck against tanks, 250 is SO many. Lurkers v. Zealots. Zealots. For literally the EXACT same reason I picked the adepts in the previous battle. 400 is too many.

4/5 ✅Round 1 - Thors destroy roaches, and heckbats just had to survive long enough for that to matter even if their damage is pathetic ✅Round 2 - Vikings would win with proper targeting, but I knew they would just A move and lose ✅Round 3 - Siege tanks are very scary, but that one was really close tho ❎Round 4 - I thought lurkers had it, they didn't :( ✅Round 5 - Paperliaths just aren't good outside of their niche of being able to fire at two targets

Lurkers can't win most straight up fights (if any), they need a choke or something upfront. Even against standar Bio they lose if marines/marauders get a decent concave. Pair that with the fastest gap closer and well, they may lose 100 zealots at the first volley, but the rest will "draw circles around them"

Which unit can outrun a Jumping Baneling? A series of units moving away from Jumping Banelings from one end of the arena to the other. Each unit is chased by 1 baneling, banelings have a behavior massively increasing damage (to guarantee kill).

Ok, at this point Tya is just openly BMing the Goliaths... aside from that very close and interresting encounter vs landed Vikings, they're just getting repeatedly bullied over and over. Suggestion: considering that they were based on BW counterparts, why not just give them the Campaign range ugrades (+2 vs air, +1 vs ground), and the multi-lock? They are a campaign unit anyway, and it would be awesome to see'em go up against a combined ground + air force with full upgrades across the board.

I know an interesting matchup to redeem goliaths a bit. 4 battlecruisers and 6 hellbats, vs 20 goliaths with dual targeting (shoot both air and ground at the same time, a campaign upgrade). Might even need to reduce the goliaths to 16 or 12, though yamato and the high hp of the BC's might just make it fair.

3/5 (w,l,l,w,w) 1.Was a lot closer than I thought, but the Thor powerhouse lived too long to let the roaches win. 2.I knew Yamato would even things out, but I figured 50 vikings vs 30 battlecruisers would still win it. 3.I wanted to believe in the siege tanks, but they usually lose because they aren't sieged at the start. (Maybe have a sieged tanks episode where we see how many things it takes to run in a straight line through the meat grinder?) 4.Lurkers are supposed to be good versus swarms, but against zealots in large numbers they wrap around and then the line attacks aren't as effective. Was a lot closer than I thought, but I figured 400 was well more than enough. 5.Banelings, nuff said. But for the actual reasoning: any time a baneling gets it's grubby little mitts on a bunch of units that can't spread out it's gg. Much like how some units need to be micro'd to be good, the baneling needs the opponent to not micro to be good.

I can predict that all Lurkers and DTs get slaughter since somehow they are never cloaked and everything can see them - meaning they lose at least half their value and making their "battles" pointless.

4 out of 5! I really love the adept so much. So painful. At first, I was wondering about the vikings vs BCs, then I realized that after Yamato, it was 2v1, no way the vikings won that.

Even without the Yamato BCs would have won, and likely would have won even if there had been 120 Vikings. Vikings are designed to be a kiting unit, they don't have the armor nor the health pool to stand up to much of anything for extended periods.

That was way too many banelines. Completely unfair matchup. Banelings are extremely destructive and not to be underestimated, especially if you're attack moving and not using any micro.
