What box is best for retro gaming? I don't need anything as powerful as an Nvidia shield, I only emulate up to n64 and psx.

Hi Roberto, Can you please tell us which Android box has the strongest and stable wifi connection. Because I am looking forward to buy one and I only can use WiFi connection since the router far from the living room.

Great video as per normal & always spot on with his reviews , no holds barred if it's a crap box! I have the minix u9-h & it is a fantastic box ( not without it's quirks) minix are working on an update to android 7 as we speak, but they have by far the best firmware & I've tried lots of budget/mainstream boxes

I had X8, and while it was their latest, Minix released new firmware every 2 month. I am looking for their new box, since they seem to release one every year.

Hey Dave thanks, yes we have to be transparent or there is no point to it. Regarding Minix they have some great machines, not perfect as o mentioned a lot of times but they do improve over time and don’t just disappear. Im also expecting the update to 7 although humm its not to important for our boxes like 6 was 👍☺️

X8 and x8-h plus were great devices back when they were released, then s900 socs came out and changed the game 😀 im not sure if they will release anything soon as this has been a boring year on the hardware and software. If you need a solid choice the U9-H is still the fastest one on terms of pure android 👍👍

Jorge, how well does the wifi work on that Minix box you are recommending? That's been my biggest issue with every Android TV box I've ever dealt with (and that includes the Nvidia Shield too). I have been building little OpenELEC boxes for a while now, but I would really love an Android box, but it needs to have decent wifi (like every other device I own). Do you think the Minix box is capable? Cheers!

Hi Frank i can get above 100 mbs on wifi, cant recall the exact number but check the review and i have it there. Sometimes the issue is our network and not the box. Check that you have a strong wifi connection 👍😉

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate your reply. Not sure what it is about all the "budget-ish" Android boxes I've used, but it's always the Android boxes that have the crap wifi (Nvidia Shield included). All of my other devices (Roku, OpenELEC box, AppleTV, cell phones, AVR receiver, etc...) have never had an issue with my WiFi setup, though I agree that's always the best place to look first. I can stream 4K movies from VUDU through my Roku, so I'm pretty sure my wifi strength is "adequate". ;-) I'm going to try out one of these Minix U9-H boxes for myself and see if it will work for my setup. Thanks for the in-depth videos, I really enjoy them and find them educational. Cheers!

That will be the minox 4 that has a weaker hardware. Not worth the change. The mibox 3 has some beta versions but namm better off with the current firmware 😉

Question. Will I notice the difference between the Beelink GT1 and the Beelink A1? I know one has 2gb Ram and one has 4gb. I will only be using this to stream movies on kodi/terrarium. Trying to see which one I should go for or if you recommend a completely different one to stream movies only. Also, what about the Trongle x4 and the new Fire TV? TY

I haven’t used that one so I can’t say. I would go for a mibox 3 or beelink gt1 ultimate for a budget but with a nice performance 👍

Hey Jorge, I’m a new cord cutter. Have a Firestick 3months , it works good. I want to buy a box now for 2nd tv. No 4K. I’m not a gamer so, I will use it only for Terrarium tv, Kodi. New Box will have to use WiFi only. Which box would you suggest for me spending $100 or less? No problem buying a wireless key board additionally. Thanks

Roberto Jorge Thanks for your response! Surprised you didn’t pick Tannix TX92 has more storage 7.1, DDR4, T820. You definitely feel Minix U9 is the way to go even with low storage, DDr3, Android 6.0 and more $$s. ?.

hey roberto, my minix u9-h wont go past minix logo and I cant go into recovery mode. I read it could be faulty power supply? what do you think?

Hi Velaskes, power supply i don’t think so. If it was it would not tirn on. This is something on firmware level. Did you try to manually update or something similar? The best way to fix is a manual flash by installing from scratch the layest firmware. Go to minix forum and check there for the firmware and also guides for the installation. Hope you can fix it soon. RJ

Thx for the vid RJ nice one will go this year for the Dune HD Pro 4K i tried several android boxes this year all rubbish wetek zidoo big headache then it works or crash then no sound I wil stay with my brand no mo exotic brand names

I agree but shield cost 229 that is the stripped version so with hd it cost more and i want to have a 4k file steamer don't need gaming, apps and tv i have a HTPC for tht been looking to replace my Minix Neo for a year now it is crashing with kodi does not want to play all files so time for replacement

And the h96 pro + is a piece of crap as you would say LOL the firmware keeps crashing even after I upgraded it from android 6.02 and charge 7.1 not that usable I would not recommend that back to nobody. But me cool have a new box that supports the android TV operating system like the Nvidia shield and it has voice control search and it is only about US$55. I ordered one and I will let you know how it holds up

Hi Roberto, in the same vein of subject, are all firmwares the same?, as in if i had 2 different boxes, both running android 6.0 but from different makers, could i put any android 6.0 firmware on any given box if one of them had a major problem. thanks Roberto.

Nop, they are different and that is one oc the reasons that similar boxes may be good or bad 👍
