I heard a Rumor that Amazon is going to do a Warhammer Series with Henry Cavill? Has anyone else heard this.. on the plus side, Henry Cavill would be an awesome primarch or really anyone ... on the negative side Amazon did Rings of Power and completely spat on the Tolkien lore.
@@wilkor7643 That gives me hope then. Because I hear he quit the Witcher when the writers decided to crap on the story and tried to introduce modern scio-political BS into the narrative.
Hey Majorkill. Would you please make some lore videos on the Imperial Truth, the Imperial Creed, The Ecclesiarchy, and the High Lords of Terra? Thank you.
I grew up on a world, untouched by our emperor’s holy light and tho I’ve Been a fan of this channel for a while now, I’ve never read a war hammer book or even played the games lol I really like the lore. I’ve finally decided to get into the novels, but there’s soooooo much it’s overwhelming finding a good place to start lol can anyone suggest some good ones to start with, for a noob who only has a basic awareness of the setting, and major factions, from watching major kill RU-vid videos lol I’m Just want a nice place to start that will cover the important shit I need to know and then some fav recommendations for once I’ve got a foothold. Doing my best to not be a heaven, zeno sympathiser scum bag but I’m also worried that my naivety could be taken advantage of by chaos
Commissar Hartman: As soon as you finish your bunks, I want you two turds to clean the head. Guardsman Joker and Cowboy: Sir, aye-aye, sir! Commissar Hartman: I want that head so sanitary and squared away that the God Emperor Himself would be proud to go in there and take a dump! Guardsman Joker and Cowboy: Sir, yes, sir! Commissar Hartman: Guardsman Joker, do you believe in the God Emperor of Mankind? Guardsman Joker: Sir, no... (head explodes from Commissar Harman's bolter gun)
Pawns of Chaos is an older BL title that has both the "chaos " and "Imperial " act in awful but understandable ways, with the chaos side arguably being the more sympathetic.
This is the one weakness of the 40k lore that I always bring up. Chaos is just too one-sided and allows little room for morally grey characters. You could have revolutionaries, anarchists, or just people wanting freedom from whatever opressive regime currently controlling their planet....but nope, it's a zero sum game. It's not bad, it's just sad because it's a wasted potential. No wonder Chaos rarely gets any attention from GW.
The Thousand Sons rescue a lot of mutans and Psykers from the Imperium, training them to become Sorcerers, Astartes or just actual librarians. Tizca is supposedly an actual metropolis, albeit surreal. They will sacrifice you if they have to, but usually the Thousand Sons are by far one of the best options for Psykers.
i mean if i can expand upon my powers, not get executed and live in a crystal metropolis as a psyker that’s pretty good. might even accompany ahriman to the black library.
But the price for knowledge is high and becoming a sacrifice, a magical experiment or chaos spawn is not uncommon. Demons will still attempt to take your soul. Sorcerers might involve you in their machiavellian power struggles. And Chaos Magic might drive you mad or just twist you into an abomination.
@@serronserron1320 not really. In lore tnzeech don't like his daemons killing those already on his side so he Merks them too. And as a helpful side effect the science allows for more medical knowledge. there is still the off chance you get sacrificed or tricked into being experimented on
@@connormcgehee9349 Thousand sons and Death Guard tend to treat their normal human recruits 'better' than the rest. Death guard sees plague as a gift, and the thousand sons like to recruit more than kill: senseless killing isn't a huge thing for them. The rest actually suck.
@@caveychip7510 Oh yes, Rylanor did. But one of Vistario's squad mates used a spell to freeze the bomb in a time warp to contain the explosion. It was only after Vistario saw what a massive creep Fulgrim was, that he thought "Screw it...", and shot his mate in the head, causing the spell to break and the virus bomb to explode.
This quote is always so funny to me as a long time Street Fighter fan, since Zangief has never been a bad guy, except in the Van Damme movie which is non-canon.
The unapologetic evil is one of the things that attracted me to Chaos as a faction to begin with but I do wish they'd explore the more grey aspects of Chaos and Chaos Worshippers in depth
A few khorn cults are more into honor or martial prowess and there may be a tzeench character that might genuinely want to learn about stuff without an ulterior motive I’m not sure about nurgle cause the nature of it is unbiased neutrality and slannesh is slannesh
Personally I think that there could be chaos faction who would want to spread their ways of chaos life style to loyalists because they think it’s a legitimately better for them then worshiping the emperor and living under the imperium. I mean Slaanesh is all about seeking out pleasure and stuff. So a chaos leader wanting to make humans to be ranging thirst-fueled ecstasy chasers because he legit thinks it better for them isn’t I much of stretch. Though I don’t think the conversion methods would be peaceful or well level headed.
Unapologetic evil has upsides. Just look at our world. It is kind of unrealistic for all these dark universes to not have the evil side accidentally make the world a better place fairly regularly. The universe doesn't care about intentions. The only reason the evil sides don't save the day every other crisis is because the plot won't let them.
@@maninthemask6275I mean, the main thing that converted the emperor’s children to slaanesh wasn’t the sexual pleasure at first, it was seeking perfection, a perfection which would transcend your human form. I’d love to see things like a world where life isn’t so bad (unlike in hive cities basically) and people are super individualistic because if they feel like family they’d start believing in nurgle.
It's not even the positive aspects, it's just the nuance. As a world eaters fan boy it's a bit annoying when every piece of media is just oh they're insane, which is just kinda boring and too one dimensional.
@@Kevc00 Some would say martial honour and pride in ones ability as a warrior is good, some would say they are bad. It's a matter of perspective in that case, although at least martial honour could potentially mean you only seek worthy foes instead of mindlessly butchering everything.
@@inwit594 see that's the kind of nuance I like, less of the pure we love killing kids because that makes us great fighters, and more warriors who fight because they serve the god of war. They fight because it's what they were bred to do. Warriors who's only motivation is to fight. It's different also but much the same. Give more variety and again a bit of nuance to the faction. Generally I just hate when they get the one dimension treatment.
Agree, but yeah khorne is the worst example. Almost all his followers are crazy maniac berzerks. Slaanesh followers make the most sense i think, tzeentch ones are the less chaossy of the lot in my eye, you could have a conversation with a thousand son sorcerer, nurgle too theoritically but you'll die of diseases before that so they are kinda hard to approach...
Or better yet an Adeptus Custodes. Their gene-therapies are implied to be advanced enough to fix whatever is wrong with Ogryn brains. But it would take something very unlikely for them to choose an Ogryn embryo to work with.
Or a thunder warrior. I really want to see the iron warriors try that, and it is not TOO lore wonky. Some ogryn thunderwarriors Frankensteined out added to the iron warriors.
Forget all that; Squat Astartes!!! >XD Salaminimanders!! No Angry marines, just Happy Marines, Sleepy Marines, Dopey Marines, Grumpy Marines, Doc's an apothecary and Sneezy fell to Nurgle!
One theory I’ve seen about the good aspects of the Chaos gods that I found really interesting was that the Old Ones took that aspect of them to create some of the Eldaar gods. Majority of this theory stems from the similarities between the three surviving members of the Eldaar Pantheon (Cegorach, Isha, and Khaine) and the older Chaos gods (Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Khorne). Both Isha and Nurgle are both are gods of life, and Nurgle is explicitly stated as to be holding Isha in his garden. Khorne and Khaine are both gods of war who are both characterized as berserkers. Finally both Cegorach and Tzeench are tricksters, with Cegorach apparently scheming to this day in the Black library. The theory states that separating these “good” aspects of the chaos gods happened way before the current setting and because there was only the “evil” aspects left chaos became what it is today.
I want a short story where after a couple gets married. Slaanesh gets frustrated that love is under the emperor for humans. So Slaaneshie cults try and do weddings and romantic evenings only to fail at every turn. 40k needs these comedic moments.
meh idk man 40k is known for the "grimdark" it's not your friendly comedy sunday show but if the majority of fans wants then why not i guess but personally i'm against comedy that's "heavy"
I have to hand it to Major, this whole week has been banger video after banger video. This man is really making the best 40K content on RU-vid, if more RU-vidrs had a drive like MK this platform would be a much better place.
Not sure if Tzeench could still be counted as a "Good" chaos god. If you're making your own schemes, it would come come about it works with Tzzench's own schemes
Worth mentioning that Tzeentch is also the chaos god empowered by hope, so genuinely good actions and schemes already works with Tzeentch's own schemes. Not to mention almost any good action that actually makes a difference in the long run invariably involves change by the very nature of the setting. Even the example of Vistario involves a twist of fate and a betrayal, which is right up Tzeentchs alley

Ahriman is essentially a dog chasing a steak on the end of a fishing rod attached to the dog. He doesn't want to do bad things, it's just he thinks he has to if he wants that steak and it'll be so juicy once he finally gets it. The entire Ahriman plot is Ahriman: Let me into the vault of ultimate power. Everyone else: Look, we would, but every time you get access to power you always try to fix things and make things worse. Ahriman: But that's why I need the power, I have so many things to fix. Everyone else: You're right, you fucked everything up really badly. But there are still some things that aren't totally covered in shit and we're worried that when you try to clean up the shit you covered everything else with you'll accidentally cover the unshit things with shit. You know. Like you always do. Literally every time. Ahriman: This time it'll be different, let me in the vault. Everyone else: It's not even a real vault, there's no power inside. We just put some clues out there to lure you here so we could all speak to you. This is actually an intervention, listen, we all care about you. We're all gathered here to help you. We just need you to stop. You're hurting the people you care about with this obsession. If you stop now then we can salvage what is left and maybe one day you can learn to accept things for what they are. They may not be perfect but that doesn't mean there is nothing to cherish. Your quest to fix everything has stopped you from seeing that not everything needs fixing. Ahriman: So you won't let me in the vault? Everyone else: ... there is no vault. Ahriman: If you won't let me in the vault willingly I'll have to kill you all. Everyone else: Wow.
@@DoctorM42 Hey, blame Magnus for that. When Ahriman tried to kill him for turning into a Daemon Prince, and Tzeentch literally removed Magnus' ability to kill Ahriman, Magnus dropped a Geas on Ahriman to 'understand Tzeentch'. Only two ways to do that. Black Library, or managing to make the Black Staff powerful enough to eat Tzeentch like it has so many Daemons. He's got a freaking compulsion spell on him cast by Magnus the Red that won't let him stop and devise a proper spell to fix things.
Fabius Bile is also sane. He can be considered a champion of Slaanesh because he unintentionally empowers Slaanesh in his obsessive quest to perfect his genetics research and torturing billions of people in the process.
Chaos was the evil manifested from the sins of the War In Heaven, the conflict so catastrophically devastating it made the Horus Heresy barely a blip on the radar.
I still question that considering only a third of the forces in that conflict actually contributed to it. Necrons have no souls and Orks don't feed the warp.
@@Nostroman_Praetor It doesn't matter when you have the Old Ones and War-in-Heaven Aeldari as participants. Particularly in the case of the latter, you needed to be a low-Alpha Grade Psyker to even be _cannon fodder_ during the War in Heaven. There were _trillions_ of them.
Chaos feeds on violence and emotions Trazyn alone does both on a regular occassion, sometimes not his fault which probably makes it extra juicy for Chaos Khornate Orks are Canon thanks to a Novella released back in 2017
@@Nostroman_Praetor The thing is, Old ones and Eldars are/were so psychic that they echoed hard in the warp. Note that the war of heaven was so dark, twisted, violent and overall did so much casualties that the warp changed forever. It was a calm and gentle sea of souls and emotions, now it is a sea of monsters that feed on everything not them + the chaos realms.
I've always thought it was weird that the thousand suns are considered the same as the other chaos marines. Ahriman's ritual literally made them immune to the corruption of chaos. So while they are kind of stuck with tzeentch, some of them should be able to break free if they so chose
Reading Dark Imperium atm and it's pretty intrresting how Nurgle infects and takes people over. They aren't even aware of it until they're basically mind controlled and exploding with maggots
I'm surprised that you didn't mention the Eldari Black Library 🤔 The place is only open to those individuals who overcame chaos demon possession. I think that it was implied that Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn was one of the rare humans to do so.
Chaos isn't intrinsically evil, it's just a rejection of all order, rules and limits. There's a short story in the old Realm of Chaos books where a chaos champion helps Kislev fighting in the Siege of Praag against the Chaos incursion. Chaos is all possibilities including fighting against itself.
thats kind of what i miss about old fantasy. chaos actually felt chaotic, like it wasn't one organized faction but more differing chaos gods and demons duking it out. in fact i would argue thats the limiting nature of chaos. as soon as chaos starting actually conquering the galaxy they turn against eachother in competition. there are few universes where chaos wins simply due to that reality.
Actually he forgot about the Blood Gorgans, a whole Chaos Space Marine chapter dedicated to helping mortals overthrow their masters whether imperial or chaos. While I wouldn't call them 'good' per say they are far more morally correct in their actions then many Imperial factions. Also the Enslaver Plague refers to the Enslavers breaking into our reality it doesn't actually have anything to do with diseases.
"What if one or more Chaos God was defined by their positive traits over their negative" would be a cool video. Either being that way from the start, making a conscious shift in their behaviors, vor altered over eons by their worshippers.
The hat looks good on you. 😉 Imagining Tzeentch as an anti-hero. A trickster who likes to mess around with whomever he wants, but out of mischievous rather than malevolence.
Henry Cavill’s new 40k series should be animated by the Astartes animator set in the Great Crusade/ Horus Heresy era with Cavill voicing Constantin Valdor and Charles Dance as the Emperor
Glad to see ur reaching ur 420K mark pretty soon MK. To celebrate why not dedicate this achievement by celebrating the great Sanqinala of telling the deeds, legends, and lore about the Greatest Golden Edgelord Chapter Master who just wants to f'ing die. Dante vid pls?👍🙏🏻
Perhaps the first three chaos gods were weapons made by the old ones to fight the c'tan and necrons. Each one fights at a different scale, and aligned, form a perfect battlefront.
Big true. Imagine the three of them, and all their followers / worshippers completely united. Using all resources in a cohesive manner and letting Ts create the plans while Khorne runs shit down on the battlefield. Nurgle healing any injured and growing more and more armies / champions that are then imbued with power from Khorne. Psykers in the back powered by Ts. I don't think anyone would have much of a chance. Except my lovely Necrons. They'd make them pokemon like they do with all Gods. :)
@@Waishwhw72i19sjx7 that is actually a really good explanation for why the chaos gods seem to be so powerful when they work together. the horus heresy only happened as well as it did because the big three decided that to survive after the great crusade they had to work together and break the leg of the imperium.
Im sure alot of people tell you all the time but i greatly appreciate all the time and effort you put into all these lore videos as someone who was always half assed when it came to models and the lore i have learnt and invested alot more time into warhammer and warhammer 40k thank you mate
I can’t remember exactly how the story goes but a real life example of this is that there was I think a commander of a panzer battalion in the Wehrmacht circa 1940 ish. So his unit was ordered to clear out a Jewish community somewhere in France, accompanied by an SS company. So as soon as his tankers reached their objective, the Panzer commander basically refused to go through with it, and instead took up defensive positions at the key bridges into the area and told the SS to go fly a kite. I can’t remember if the units ever actually exchanged fire, but I know that the Panzers bought just enough time for everyone to get out, and that the commander was executed immediately afterwards. GIVE ME MORE EXAMPLES OF THIS IN 40K! PLEASE, GW! CHAOS DO NOT HAVE TO BE ONE SIDED AWFUL PEOPLE *Deep exhale*
You forgot Argel-Tal. Arguably, he wasn't given enough time to get properly corrupted. Still, he remained morally mostly good and upright despite having a demon symbiote for a while.
Next video idea: If one of the Chaos Gods decides to somehow join forces with the Imperium against the other Chaos Gods, who would it be, why and how would it affect the current setting?
7:29 tbf though fulgrim was quite slaaneshy then and the thousand sons were quite tzeenchy so it stands to reason that it may have been a boon to tzeeench to jick slaanesh in the balls (however many of them slaanesh has) by kneecapping fulgrim
I actually like Chaos a lot more now than the Imperium. The stories are much richer now and we evolve into the reintroduction of the Primarchs. I love the black legion based off the the talons of Horus book series and the new night lord book series, plus I really fucking dig Huron Blackheart now. Though, I’m still a huge Ezekyle fan. Ezekyle deserves more victories, like more world destroying galaxy tearing victories and give Ezekyle the same character profile as in the Black Legion and Talon of Horus or when even in the Siege of Terra series where Ezekyle straight up talked shit to Fulgrim and Angron and the. Cut Angrons feed during a zoom meeting. I loved when he failed the spear tip attack on the palace and got the shit kicked out of him and when he was teleported back to the ship he was pleading “send me back, send me back”. I fell in love with his character at that point. Make the Warmaster kick ass like he is supposed to be! Then kill his ass in an epic doomsday fight and make Huron the next Warmaster!
I believe the short story about the nurgle corrupted ultramarine is from the “Let the Galaxy Burn” omnibus. The short story is called “In Daamatio Tuum”. Also features a SoB cannoness.
Had an idea for a comedy novel about four greater demons who were actually nice to people on a planet in the rift and helped them alot and protected them.
Fabius Bile is also sane. He can be considered a champion of Slaanesh because he unintentionally empowers Slaanesh in his obsessive quest to perfect his genetics research and torturing billions of people in the process. If you believe the ends justify the means, then Fabius is good. Since his horrific research may save far more people than it kills.
Obligatory asking Majorkill for a mini dedicated to the late Elderly Man. Want a proxy for my Commissar with Power Fist that's worthy of it's namesake.
As someone who did warhammer milsim, playing as a custom slannesh warband called the red crystal aka the meth marines, chaos is chaos good, bad or morally grey, as long as we served their horniness it was all that mattered
Most of us were just methed up physcos who loved to kill anything and anyone, our leader wasn’t inherently evil or good, he just tried to do what was best for us
I myself am making a World eaters warband that follows the predator code of honor which I’m thinking Khorne would be ok with, they go for bigger game such as an imperial knight rather than an old pregnant mother with a broken leg along with her kid with cancer. If I’m correct The great Khorneholio greatly appreciates badass, reckless and self risking actions, he’d be happier seeing a naked berserker charge Guilliman with only his fists than seeing a terminator kill a comatose kid with glass and cardboard for bones using his ridiculously op thunderhammer.
Why is that “the path to hell is paved with good intentions” line is always used incorrectly?! The path to hell is paved with good intentions means that it is not enough to simply mean to do well, one must take action to do well. An intention is not an action. The quote is about the harm that comes from doing nothing.
The real question is "are there heretics who are less evil than Imperium". And the answer is chad "Yes". Imperium can go to such depths of Evil most Chaos followers would be appaled by it. In fact it's one of the major avenue of corruption - people coming to face with the more fucked up aspects of Imperium and deciding they're going to join the other side, because Chaos looks less evil in comparison.
Ehh maybe not good but definitely one of the few cases of rejecting chaos. Arguleon Veq/Karnulon The Word Bearer Sorcerer. Basically decided after thousands of years that chaos wasn't cool and decided to blow up a daemon world as a middle finger to chaos. Current status is unknown. But probably the only case off the top of my head where a mortal decided to call it quits and maybe/semi gets to do something about it. Also oddly melee competent for a sorcerer as he's capable of deflecting bolter rounds lightsaber style and bitches about getting winged by one claiming in his youth he would have swatted them all so there's that.
I think the best example I can find of this to me is in the Beastslayer book where a Dukes brother(who is secretly a mutant and Tzeentchian follower) tries to have the duke assassinated. But throughout it all he is questioning his motives and reasonings as he genuinely loved his brother and at the last moment he saved his brother and died in turn. Then Gotrek showed up and the assassins lifespan was cut short and the Duke continued to live and lead the following battle.
Thank you for this video Majorkill. Especially this video hit me really close to home. I also like to light weird smelling candles while playing in my own poo.
How about Luther? Got super duper souped up on the chaos steroids but is pretty objectively a good guy in the current setting because he realized that chaos was shit and gave it up willingly and regrets what he did completely
You know if you kill someone and go "ooops im sorry I shouldn't have done that" doesn't change the fact that you just murdered someone. He merked the Lion, turned Dark Angel against dark angel because jealousy, people died and a planet exploded. Thats pretty objectively not a good guy.
@@MG-wx9ib my operative word was “current”. I agree that what he did was objectively bad, however since then he has done his best to make up for it however he can by trying to advise and mentor DA Supreme Grand Masters and help them however he can. Sadly he is hindered in this by an occasional lack of sanity and a rather deserved reputation as a traitor
One thing i want to point about the incident between fulgrim and vistaro is that the bomb he allowed to detonate was a virus bomb(which is even more based btw) and not a nuclear one as major kill said. Just want to point that out
I have a Kornite fan character who managed to keep his cool, and actively sends non-combatants back to the imperium only killing the worthy foes who put up a fight. He even gets pissed when someone kills the innocents he sends back to the relative safety of the imperium. However, those who choose to remain become slave labor making food and weapons for the chaos warbands, and end up working in much better conditions with more luxuries than the average imperium citizen and mostly don't have to worry about getting killed since they are all unworthy foes. Additionally, they use these slave populations to recruit new chaos marines who are taught to temper the powers of khorne in a process called the forging.
The character in question is a corrupted wolfen who managed to keep his sense of self when he became a wolfen in order to save his battle brothers, and ended up siding drinking the blood god flavored chaos cool aid to kick the crap out of some of Tzeench's hentai monsters. Unlike other chaos space marines he is under no illusions of his servitude to Khorne, but chooses to stay with Khorne because no matter where he goes he'll end up serving someone and at least Khorne gives him powers and is actively present when compared to the emperor.
Thousand sons may be evil at times, but think about it for a second, despite the warpfckry they do, they are the only ones who care about psykers, they give them a new home, they train them to understand and control their abilities when literally everyone else want to kill or enslave psykers. Thousand sons give psykers what no one else would, respect, empathy and protection.
That's pretty much it, the births of the Four were the essentially births of black holes in the warp, they're singularities that consumed and corrupted any other gods or goddesses relevant to their domains. It's questionable if you could even feed them enough positivity to turn them 'good' again, since their negative influence in the mortal realm just makes a feedback look of corruption in, corruption out. The only way to fix the warp may be to starve it of all mortal energy until it burns out and start again from scratch, ie. the Necrons need to win.
I think the most ironic is Horus himself. He thought that he defeated the Emperor and so resisted the 4 Chaos Gods since his objective is now done. He isn't some pawn to be used so he tried his best to get rid of their influence. When they backed away along with their powers, Big E suddenly revealed himself to continue the fight. Horus began to call the power again but it was slow to return that Big E managed to take him for good.
You know it’d be funny if four followers were living together or friends and all 4 tried to control there faults and evil tendencies Nurgle follower would smell shitty Khorne follower would be picking fights salnesh follower would have a new kink or addiction every week and Tzeetch would be having stupid or crazy pranks that or the most chill
Well we do have inquisitor quicksauce who was pulling a necron gamer move dabbin on the eye of terror with the super charged pylons as a daemonic looking dude
