They are both on each end of the extremes. In most jobs you can't take another full time job without affecting productivity. But also if you're doing enough for both jobs to not get fired, why not? Same with the job hopping thing. I've see friends who successfully job hopped and gotten much higher pay and also some others who have job hopped but they were laid off and have to work their way back on track. So it's really down to the individual person's risk tolerance and luck.

My guess is he thinks that they are paying for your full 40 hours of staring at the computer working from home, rather than paying you for the productivity. Time working another job is time taken away from being on call from them, maybe? Pretty loopy but his likely reasoning for thinking that

Dave is also highly against WFH because he's invested in commercial real estate.

Since these new work from home people used to work in the office, how come it took them 40 hours in the office to do what it now takes only 20 hours at home? What were they doing in the office besides working? Going to endless staff meetings, three hour lunches?

*I think* he was referring to the fact that there have been several news articles, and people on RU-vid even, posting that they were working two full-blown full-time W2 jobs simultaneously! They were effectively stealing from both employers! As they are being paid for 40 hours of work a week. To work 40 hours for an employer, and work for another employer at the same time, is theft. Now, I support Working from home entirely! But it's those few that kill it for the rest of us.

If an entrepreneur hustles and juggles multiple tasks and jobs they’re considered a hardworking genius. If a worker does it, it’s considered stealing. I agree and was thinking the sane thing. I work more now than I did in the office. Responsibilities and process has changed causing additional workload.

I work way more from home too - about 25% to 50% more. Some people are talking advantage but how does Dave support that? Maybe he doesn't know how to use a computer. Employers can see when work is done or isn't, it is pretty obvious.

You work more from home because you cut out longer commutes and you're more refreshed to work. He's sounding like a boomer.

It works for some and not for others. We had workers at my company which seemed to be half assing their work. It felt like they where either playing video games or working another job from home. Some people its great.

There's a difference between holding down multiple jobs and actually being on the clock for multiple jobs at the same time. Clock out of one job before clocking in for the other. This is not what some people exploiting WFH are doing. I have no problem with WFH, but there are people who abuse it. There should not a an overlap between "shifts" you work.

It's unethical if your employer expects you to work full time and you are not.

If you were to look at it from Dave’s POV his stance would be he isn’t stealing because the effort he puts into one of his companies is his decision of what to allocate to a business is his resources that he owns so he isn’t stealing from himself. Whereas an emoloyee is paid to work for the forty hours you’ve paid them for assumed for their full efforts for those hours which isn’t truly possible if you’re working multiple jobs at the same time. Now if you agree or not is up to you but that would be how he would see it. For me an employer who pays at a level where somebody feels the need to have another full time job is problematic

This is partly due to our desire to have more and fancier cars, bigger homes, etc. We've increased our lifestyles greater than incomes have increased.

@@jdtreharne the real difference is that you got a lot of welfare helping you when you are unemployed, sick, old etc... while in US you are on your own. For example I always hear that in US you need a 401k where you need to invest, in Europe in general (at least my own country) we got real pension... We pay a lot of taxes while working for that, but we don't need to think about it, investing etc... Even if there is something like that it's 100% optional and it is just a plus to the pension. Most people here don't need to pay for a sanitary insurance, we already pay taxes for that. You don't ask for days of vacations from your work, it's your right in your contract. The employer cannot even fire you without a reason and he will need to tell you weeks before. And while you're unemployed you can go to free courses to be able to work again while the welfare provide... Almost every public school is good so you don't need a student loan at all. I'm not saying is the perfect world, but I think I prefer it to the US way.

More people should make it a big project to quit bad jobs. I had jobs I disliked and stayed at for various reasons. Leaving is better if I don't like it. Improving a bad job or staying because they need me is a bad idea.

Then they should have a title that is a better reflection of what they do. If you are correct about that, the title they have doesn't describe what they do, which means the phrase was coined by an idiot and they went along with it, making them idiots too.

The US is very backwards when it comes to many things.

I used to work around 40 hours a week and had time to raise my family with plenty of money. In 2022 I am forced to work 72 hours a week with no relief in sight. Management does not care and will fire you in a second if you complain. I'm sorry but Dave is wrong on some of this but right too. Pretty well everyone wants to work and support themselves but not many want to be treated like this.

The con is a low salary so idk.

Dave Ramsey is a multi millionaire through real estate, specifically commerical real estate. Real estate wealth is how he built, expanded Ramsey Solutions. He is not a baby steps millionaire, this is just the 'product' he sells to buy more real estate, including the land and building that houses Ramsey Solutions. Working from home impacts commerical real estate negatively. Corporate office space goes empty. He is going to be against working from home, no matter what. I didn't realize he was so anti union. I should have, but I didn't. Disturbing. I am truly considering no longer watching. I am in a family of coal miners, and unions have saved their lives from unsafe working conditions ignored by the coal companies. Before the unions, miners had to pay for the tools they used to mine the coal. Imagine looking at your auto deposited check on your mobile phone, and see the amount less than it should be. When you pull up the check stub, you see deductions for the pens, paper, internet etc.etc. you used while at your employer's office. You don't have these items, they belong to your employer, you were charged a rental fee of sorts to use them to make a profit for your employer. This sh*t is what was done to miners for years. Oh, and they also had to shop in scrip (a token). I could go on, but I am sure you get the point.

Also, the whole "go find another job" is just like saying "go live somewhere else" when you criticize your country. Not everyone can simply just go get another job for a multitude of reasons just like it's not easy to just get up and immigrate elsewhere. Is it wrong to want to have better working conditions or a better country to live in? No, it's not. So stop using the whole "go find another job" argument.
