Are Amphibia and The Owl House Really the Same Show? 

Amphibia and the owl house definitely have similarities, and can be considered sister shows considering that Dana Terence and Matt Braly, who made the owl house and Amphibia respectively, also worked with Alex Hirsch on his series Gravity Falls, with all 3 shows possibly taking place in the same universe. However, the stories that Amphibia and the owl house are trying to tell are relatively different, as are the characters and their development. Amphibia at its core is about the nature of change, while owl house is about the nature of acceptance and understanding. I love both Amphibia and the owl house, although I think I like Amphibia a bit more.

Amphibia and Owl House actually do have one more thing in common. They show that cartoons are not just for kids and prove why animation should be respected more.

I like to believe that The Owl House and Amphibia are like Yin and Yang. Two opposite series that complete each other. Amphibia has The Chosen One and "Change (or more specifically, becoming a better version of yourself)" as thematic. The Owl House has The Unchosen One (a random, average person who chooses to save the world, even if they are not the Chosen One, damned be the consequences) and accepting yourself, warts and all.

The owl house and amphibia are like sister shows and sharing the easter eggs with great stories about luz and anne so I really miss these shows a lot! 🥰🐸❤🦉🏠

To me one of the big things that sets Luz apart from other similar protagonists that I have seeen is that at first she isn't stuck in the Demon realm, but chooses to stay there.

They’re shockingly similar; it even got to the point where it doesn’t feel like they were paralleling each other as sister shows should, but instead just doing the exact same things. That’s why I sort of understand why someone would think they are ripping each other off. I don’t agree with that since it’s not necessarily bad to do the same things and I think the shows did *a lot* of different things with their similarities. Amphibia had a lot more focus on a way different message and theme, which is why Amphibia’s ending was so different from The Owl House’s. I would say that The Owl House was a lot more story driven, which is why it got an “happily ever after” ending. TOH doesn’t have a deep meaning behind its ending since it was always much more about experiencing the journey rather than the destination since it so story driven.

I love both of them. However I'll have to give it a slight edge to Amphibia. I can't really put to words what it is that makes me choose it, but you can be for sure that they both will share a place in my heart

People consider Amphibia’s ending problematic? I understand some things could’ve been hinted at better, but we always knew Anne would have to leave the Plantars eventually. I absolutely loved it, and thought it was a truly beautiful and emotional ending. Life can separate us, but our loved ones will always be a part of us, and it was so heartwarming to see that message done so well.

4:10 Anne is a pretty great character, but I personally prefer Luz over Anne. Luz is my favourite Protagonist of all time. Not only is she very relatable, but as a fellow neurodivergent, her hardships feel more real and relatable than they already are. If Luz were real, I would want to give her a big hug after all she's went through! It's almost as If I'm looking at a self reflection. A young, kind, brave, dorky, and kind of wacky human who just wants to be understood. And that... is basically everything I could ask for in a protagonist.

I thoroughly enjoyed both shows equally. I prefer TOH, but I still REALLY enjoyed watching Amphibia! ❤

I love these two shows, but I can say I feel more related with amphibia about it lesson, change and letting things go, is like my whole life, moving around many places and leaving good friends, but learning to adapt to it, I think this is why my fav character is anne tho, I feel so related to marcy and her story

Being completely honest, I was more emotionally attached to Amphibia, rather than The Owl House. I believe the reason why is that Amphibia focused mainly on character development, and was a lot more subtle with adding plot relevance (hence why people mistake some episodes for being "filler"). Owl House, however, was generally more fast-paced than Amphibia in terms of plot, but because of this, it prevented us from getting to know the characters as well as we do with Amphibia. So overall, Amphibia is my favorite, and very slightly better in my opinion.

I wanted to make my own versions of both these shows: Both universes are actually just one: the realm of nocturnal animals. Anne Boonchuy is actually the owl lady instead of Eda, Sasha is working for the Emperor, taking Lilith's place, and the Core and the Collector are actually just one person.

I thought i wouldn't like the owl house more i like amphibia but after seeing all the shows i felt like owl house was kinda my personal favorite cause of the plot and characters, not just about lumity. so owl house was better in my opinion

Honestly Owl House is great but I was always personally WAY more attached to Amphibia story and characters mainly because the show centers more on the development of our cast of characters and more added nuance to them than Owl House’s character cast. In some ways Amphibia and Owl House are Yin and Yang to each other.

Despite being similar to one another that doesn't stop both shows for being amazing and giving us two of the best animated projects that came from Disney in recent years.

Both of these shows are equally great (altough I love Amphibia more than the TOH cause of it's message and themes) I had very different experiences with both of these shows! As much as I'd like to say that these shows are vastly similar I mean the differences are there! Overall though between Amphibia's ending and TOH's ending I loved Amphibia's message more cause life moves on even if you're not ready to embrace changes hey that's life! I binged Amphibia and TOH, Amphibia I watched months ago and TOH just the other week. I gotta say, damn both cartoons are probably one of the peak disney shows ive watch to date.

I loved both shows a lot. But i prefer Amphibia. Mainly because Amphibia's message was one i really needed to see at the time. The story and the emotional scwnes in that show also hit ne a little harder than toh. But don't get me wrong. Toh is still one of my favorite shows too! ❤

Wow, I never fully realized just how similar these shows were until I watched this video. Calling them Sister Shows is very appropriate, but I definitely wouldn't go so far as to call them rip offs of each other. They both have lots of things that make them unique, and as for which I prefer, I'd definitely have to say I prefer Amphibia. I definitely related to the theme and the characters more than I did in The Owl House. I love both shows, and think that both are amazing, but I have to love Amphibia more for my own personal reasons.

I like the owl house more. I couldn't really tell you why, I just do. I do like Amphibia, but I only watched the entire thing because I knew Anne had some crazy powers, and I wanted to see her use it (and also understand the context). Marcy helped me through the second season (Man, I love that girl/woman), but I just wasn't that interested. Granted, I had watched the entirety of the Owl House by the time I started Amphibia, so that might play a role, but in terms of relatable characters to me (I know that is a highly personal thing), Owl House was more understandable. Because I still haven't found the misfit group that could help me and understand me, and Luz and the others finding each other gives me hope that it is possible. I absolutely love elements of Amphibia, too, but it mostly boils down to the calamity powers and Polly and Marcy. I also found that Luz's sacrifice was more meaningful than Anne's. I don't want to say it was cheap because it was actually well-written. I just think MC sacrifices have become somewhat of a token move, and we all know how they will turn out. That is true of Luz too, but it helped the Collector understand death there. But this is just my personal opinion, and it ties into a much longer argument about character death and why it has lost all its weight in my eyes.

In short: Both are heavily inspired by Gravity Falls

I like and fibia in the Outhouse to a very Heights Dent but out of the two I'll have to get the extra an extra five hundred points out of them both getting a hundred out of me because the Outhouse has more of that inspirational feeling of reminded us and telling us that it's okay to be yourself no matter how much time passes by in life that it is never too late to find your true self and that's what both losing and have found the loose. It anymore evolve way will she can still be at peace with the people she has grown to know in the world especially her more connected she feels to herself and those around her😇🤩✌️

I like owl house better, i have only watched thd first season of amphibia but i got bord, the characters werent that relatable. Ann was anoying. Eda is way vetter than hop hop becouse she desplats way more live and compation and i share her struggles and over all i just like it way better.

both of these shows are AMAZING! They are probably my two favorites and they are also really similar in many ways and i do think they are both sister shows not copies of one another though i do like Amphibia more TOH definitely deserves second place! (in my opinion ofc)

I love both of these shows. However, I prefer Amphibia to The Owl House. Because I found the comedy and the message of Amphibia to be much stronger than The Owl House.
