If you want Cheaney go to the factory shop in Desborough, end of lines or factory seconds at bargain prices, i bought the Albert 11 Chelsea Boots in December there for £145 RRP £395.

Absolutely spot on.......nothing wrong with seconds.👍

Excellent points! Some people don't realize that let say an 8.5 size oxford worn by a 175lb man will wear quite differently than the same shoe worn by 240lb bouncer! Along with environmental aspects and shoe care! Well done sir.

I own a pair of Cheaney Hurricane II C’s in black kudu, and I love them. I’m almost ready to add a pair of Avon R’s in leaf calf. By the way, I recently bought a pair of Tricker’s Stow boots from The Show Healer. The process was easy, and the boots were perfect. The Shoe Healer has now joined Herring Shoes as my go-to retailers for fine English shoes and boots.

Thank you for your comments, very kind, we would love to serve you again with the Avons when you are ready. We have a pair of those boots in whisky, absolutely love them, have you seen the two Trickers mto that we posted on the community tab? What do you think of those?

Been eyeing those Hurricanes. Always trepidatious since ordering shoes online can be complicated
@Maitreya0208

@@malkasianmuses Agreed. On your typical American last, I run 10-11, depending on the width. My Hurricanes are UK 9 in an F (standard) width and fit great. I took my brannock size (10) and converted to UK (9). That approach worked for me, but it can be stressful. Returns aren’t fun. On the upside, the boots are easily worth the price and are very comfortable.

@@Maitreya0208I’m just under a uk 9 on brannock,I tried that boot on at shoe healer and it felt a bit big but that might just be the nature as it does say it’s roomy in toe,want to try an 81/2 as it does say go half size down if you want them tighter.

Can't believe how that chap has killed those Cheaneys!!! .... worn the sole a lot too! I've got two pairs and by god, that rouge has really done a job on them. Good calf leather will outlast us chaps normally, IF you cream them now and then. Yet to try Tricker's, hearing they are tough as old boots! ;)

Quality control is the main concern with Cheaney. A few years ago I found a nail sticking up from the inner sole on a new pair of Cheaneys. The Cheaney shop provided a refund but weren't overly apologetic. A friend of mine found a similar quality issue with a Cheaney re-sole.

That's so sad to hear, they are such lovely people to do business with. It's no excuse, but like all the shoe companies in Northampton they are under pressure to keep production up and to not start cheating and having shoe uppers made abroad. They are "purely made in England " Don't give up on them please.

Trickers are good, but do you think they are now value for money, prices just seem to keep rising, must be putting folk off.

Trickers are the best heavy country shoes in the world. To have the best of anything in your life is something special, so I think they are massively under priced. The best watches, suits, jackets, glasses, cars, everything that's the best is expensive. But Trickers are also value for money because you will have a pair in your life for up to forty years 😉 Everyone has sales, even Trickers have clearance stock online. Thank you for watching and participating. Antony

Cheaney are the bees knees. I've got 3 pairs (dark leaf brogue, Chelsea boot, and a derby boot) - the other 3 pairs I have are Oxfords and are from Loake. Loake make a fine shoe and are great for work, but the Cheaney are the next step up. You can feel it in the weight of the shoe and see it in the thickness and quality of the leather. If you can afford a cheaney over a loake, then definitely worth the price stretch once you've figured out what lasts work for your foot. Can't speak for Trickers but they also look great quality. Great video 👌

You are spot on my friend 👍 Cheaney say "purley made in England" were as Loake 1880 uppers are made in india... You can feel the difference.

I currently own 12 pairs of Cheaney boots and 6 pairs of their shoes and have owned a handful more. From my experience Cheaney went through a spell of quality control issues a few years ago but recent purchases have all been excellent. To be fair I do tend to scour the internet for clearance and sale items so may have picked up items like returns or that retailers wanted to get rid of instead of returning to the manufacturer. The QC issues weren't structural but were things like misaligned eyelets or crooked tongues. As mentioned, recent purchases have been very good and comparable with my C&J as far as quality control is concerned. I own 4 pairs of Trickers boots as well and though they have good quality leather and are pretty good QC they're still a little off in consistency unlike my 4 pairs of C&J footwear which are pretty much perfect with not a stitch out of place. Trickers prices are comparable with C&J now and unless you really like the Trickers aesthetic I'd only purchase them at sale prices.

Just bought myself my first pair of Trickers Stow boots. Which cream would anyone suggest is best for nourishing, etc ?
@shoehealer8853
@shoehealer8853 5 месяцев назад
To be honest, any shoe cream would be good. Just be sure that it's for smooth leather. Everyone raves about saphir products, we use them a lot, and we love the results but it's expensive.

Cheaney are pretty much bang on price wise. Better material and and construction quality than Loake 1880 but finishing isn’t as good as C&J. My only personal qualification is that I think the proportions of the Capital Last are a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the 125.

Any advice on the sizing of the Capital v 125? I'm tempted by an Arthur Oxford. I'm a 9F in Capital but 9.5F in Cheaneys 12508 or 10F on the Jarrow Boot (same 12508) with a thick sock. So 1 in 3 chance of getting it right 😅
@EOTA564
@EOTA564 3 месяца назад
@@adampitt1986 I find the 125 slightly more snug than the Capital but there’s not much in it. The fit is similar enough that the size in one is equivalent to the same size in the other. Although you said you are half a size up in the 12508 which is more accomodating than the 125?
@adampitt1986
@adampitt1986 3 месяца назад
@@EOTA564 Thanks - that's really helpful. The internal sizing of the 125 v 12508 are half a size out, so a 9 in the 125 have the same measurements as a 9.5 in the 12508 last, so I think I'll start at 9 and go from there. Just wanted to calibrate with a loake owner because all my other shoes are on that last. Thanks again!
