The shortage is extreme on the countryside since the women flock to the cities. It is projected that there around 34 million more men than women and that imbalance is mostly reflected on younger age groups due to the One Child Policy. Girls were aborted on mass because the culture preferred men (they had to choose because only one child was allowed.

They should blame their stupid-ass government for the lack of women! The CCP discouraged couples from having more than 1 child. Because they all wanted a male child, they would abort a female child in the womb or kill a female baby when born. Result: Lots of male offspring and very few females. My neighbor went to China and got a woman. Married her and brought her back to the USA. Another Chinese lady not in the dating pool. The invasion of Poland from the soviet side was not done out of cowardice but out of the need for time to prepare. Stalin new that war with Nazi Germany was inevitable however it was also clear that if they didn't have a buffer zone (Poland) between the border of Russia and Nazi controlled territory then Russia would be very easily defeated as its millitary was very weak due to Stalin's purge of good officers in 1937. The Red army stood alone against the full might of the highly trained and well equipped Germans and if it weren't for the Russians bravery and incredible resilience to the Germans it is very easy to say that we would probably be speaking German now. Russia sacrificed a huge amount during the war surpassing 30million deaths at the hands of the Germans which is far more than any other country, yet they never surrendered and eventually beat the Germans. Also to say that the Nazi's would just shoot you rather than burning you alive is again completely false, you must have never heard what happened in Belarus where 628 villages were entirely burnt to the ground were all their inhabitants were shoved into houses and then burnt alive, no one was spared. Part of the reason of the Red Army's brutality on their way to Berlin was in retaliation to the treatment received from the Nazis. I am in no way a supporter of communist regimes nor trying to defend the atrocities committed during the war. However I am just trying to show how ignorant it is to say that the Red Army were cowards, when we owe so much to the men and women who gave their lives fighting against the Nazi empire.

On that point we sheed no tears or symphaty at all towards Russians nor their later attempts to fight the nazis later on. They were facing the monster they not only helped to create (Because intitially communists have been opting to put hitler in power (they saw him as week and thought he would be easy to deal with later)) but nurished it as well (It was Russians who helped initially to train Nazi armies despite the Versile Treaty) so again we see that as a poetic justice. They were being killed by the monster of their own making. Should Russians joined us in trying to repel the Nazis- we would hail them as heroes and it would probably mended old wounds (even if that should prove futile in the end) - instead not only they have became backstabbing traitors and cowards but in the end it bought them nothing in terms of value - They got wrecked by nazis like by the wrecking ball soon after anyway. Heck Russians continue that tradition of backstabbing other countries up to this time as well - For eg Ukraine handed over their post soviet nukes to Russia for the guaranties of safety on their part in the ninties - and guess what - they backstabbed Ukraine as well by lately occuping Ukrainian Krymean penisula and literally tearing it away in 2014. So no - they have not learned anything since WWII they are still backstabbing cowards. As for nazis burning villages in the east - while tragic it still doesnt validate Russians again treating US like trash when they pushed west during later years of the war - if anything it only proves they still held us (as Polish people) in contempt - i can understand them taking revenge on Nazis/Germans - but on us ? No - they were cowards, traitors and butchers and that is how we remember them and that is a reputation they worked hard to earn. If you're a CPC member or otherwise elite member of Chinese society, you have greater freedom than average citizens. In the last few years, Xi has consolidated power and restricted free speech somewhat more. Take that with a big grain of salt, I am a westerner who has never been to China and I only know a little bit from reading various different perspectives on Chinese freedom of speech.

I'm hoping Chinese law will catch up with the haters because I'm not so sure that threats, slander, and harassment is legal in China.

@wu ming He would have received many negative comments, yes, but he wouldn't have had people trying to ruin his life, contacted his wife's employer, had a letter sent to his parents and crap like that. The U.S. has a long tradition of freedom of expression.

@wu ming I'd say it's too simple to say that country X is "better" than country Y. Many things are in certain respects better in many Western countries than in China, yet as a Westerner, I'd say the Western world is so much more boring. China is so different, and therefore much more fascinating. Also, you seem to forget that Winston's wife has a good job in China, and that her family (and presumably friends as well) are there.

Same here! Made me apprechiate China and its citizens, as I knew little about them. At the same time, how foreigners get treated recently seems just repulsive.

@@radjalomas8854 Exactly! how is he balanced? he knows you guys already have negative feelings about China, if you only watched Serpentza videos you'd think you'd be attacked, harassed, scammed, and get thrown into a biased court the first day you land... you won't. It's very flawed because it is very much still developing and the government system is questionable, but it's not as crazy as all his video titles might make you think. He even has to admit it himself sometimes.

@@peterwang5660 If you watched his videos, you could notice how he was not implying ALL THE BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN, he is just POINTING OUT bad things could occur, and if you get into a bad situation, then you are screwed.

I don't understand what these people have against him. The guy clearly loves China, admires it, even married a Chinese girl. I watched most of his YT videos and didn't see anything slanderous in any of them. Sure there are problems in China, but aren't there problems everywhere? Speaking about them reveals care for China and should be applauded by the Chinese and not taking offense for it. Constructive criticism is a GOOD thing. Shame on these guys, they have really stooped to scum and it is THEY that give China a BAD reputation, not Winston. Sheesh.

If he decides to listen to the garbage and not confront you, then not only does that make me ignorant but your boss as well.
