My legs started getting swelling from the knee down and it was just before last December that as i sat in the shower after taking socks off that i really noticed just how bad they had become. They swell so bad i can push my finger more than an inch into my shin and it stays pressed in for minutes. My GP saw the photos i sent him and had chest X rays arranged ASAP and blood tests. I was put on Ferusomide water tablets and told my X rays were clear so my GP is not interested in having a personal hands on look. I have started doing Lymph gland massages and i also use a Physio muscles roller to give my upper legs a good rolling and my lower legs i use compression socks which i put on with a special sock sleeve i have as i am mobility impaired so getting them on and off was impossible before i got the sock sleve. And thanks to channels such as this that have helped me in learning about self care as much as possible which is very important in today's society.
That was specacular ! ! ! I came to check on one thing - and you have me insight and information on 20 or 30 things. I'm a believer in knowledge is power and you gave me LOTS of knowledge!
Thank you so much for the great info! I have started using compression socks again due to the worst leg pain I’ve ever had in my life. Ever since my DVT/PE after ankle surgery in 2006 my legs and ankles have been a disaster. Fast forward to 2024, and my legs have hurt so bad I’m in a wheelchair many days. I was just diagnosed with “significant” bilateral veinous insufficiency. This pairs nicely with both of my knees which are bone on bone 🍖, my ankles which despite 2 surgeries both have holes in the tendons and severe Tendonosis, and the nerve leg pain from severe lumbar spinal stenosis. I hated to do it, but I stopped my Prevastatin. It was contributing to my leg pain. Less than a week after discontinuance, my muscle cramps are 75% improved. So it’s a never-ending battle. And the icing on the dessert? They think I might have CRPS too. Stop laughing. Haha. Peace, AvieMare
Note: The following information is not medical advice, suggestion, recommendation, or pitch. I must confess that I once struggled to put on my compression stockings using the traditional method. It would take me over 5 minutes per leg, and it was a grueling process involving a lot of tugging, pulling, and stretching - not to mention some choice words and grunts. I'm not proud to admit it, but it was a necessary evil. However, I've since discovered an innovative solution: the stocking donner. This device has simplified the process significantly. Now, I can set up the donner in just 5 seconds, slide the stocking up my leg in 5 seconds, and take around 5 seconds to pull out any wrinkles. The stocking donner is specifically designed for putting on prescription compression stockings like mine, but I also use it for regular stockings layered on top. The swelling in my legs makes it challenging to put on either type of stocking without assistance. Thankfully, the donner has been a game-changer for me, making my daily routine much easier.
Hi ! thanks for all your videos, I've been watching all the bunion ones! I have bunions , I am hyperflexable. I have been wearing NHS compression stockings for about 3 years now, I have regular doppler tests on NHS. I have some varicose veins. What do you think about the possibility of these stockings causing me to have foot pain under one of my feet just below my third and forth toe joints? I wear the open toes stockings because I really find closed in tightness over my toes hurts my bunions! PS. I have been wearing arch support insoles in my wide toe shoes and slipper socks inside for years with great results! but this pain under my foot is new. What do you think? thanks again for all your great videos , very educational. Best wishes Denise.

My Nurse Practitioner and PCP sent me to a Vascular Surgeon. I suffered blood clots back in August 2019, DVT in lower left leg, which broke off and I ended up with a PE in each lung. Thankfully, I survived! Now, I wear compression stockings daily. The VS told me to continue wearing the stockings but never told me the root cause of my swelling. I had already seen a Cardiologist. Had EKG, Electrocardiogram, and Cardio Catheter procedure. No blockage, no leaks, my heart is clean, clear, and strong. I am unsure what to do at this point because I still don't know why my left leg still swells.
They don't do what you think. It's all hype. Football players cut holes in the back of their socks because they can't stand the restrictions on their muscles. If someone was choking your neck, would you say that your breathing is now easier? I think not...

About the ony thing I don't agree with is that putting lotion on makes it easier to put on the compression socks. Putting lotion on increases the drag coefficient the skin creates while putting on compression socks, using powder (corn starch works best) decreases the drag your skin creates and makes putting on compression socks much easier.
I have varicose veins-hereditary for me, plus I am an RN, so i am on my feet for long stretches of time. I use double layer tubigrip as a cheaper alternative because I buy it in a roll and cut it to fit. Also more comfortable. And it does help manage swelling.

I saw the best shoes you recommend but I cannot make my mind up. Please narrow it down to the best for women. I broke my calcanea bone and I am now walking but my ankle gets very swollen and I still have pain. Please help! 🙏🏽
I wear them for lyphadema maintenence compression. I wear the most tight ones and need a donor to get them on. They are wonderful and really work for my condition.
Carol, thanks for the great response! I am happy to hear that compression socks are helpful for your condition. I hope that you find donor soon. I love my 20-30mg knee highs just because they make my legs feel good. Much less fatigue! My 18 yo daughter wears the light compression to work since she is standing on concrete all day and it helps her too. We wear them for support and prevention more so than for any issues though! Side note--do you have a video for exercises and stretches for bone spurs on the back of a heel? Trying my best to avoid that surgery!!
Absolutely, they can help reduce swelling while being worn for sure. We see this very commonly. But they are usually not a permanent solution unless being worn.
I was given 30-40mm as I am dealing with static dermatitis from bad edema, I have congestive heart failure. I feel they are ok, but don't know if it's really helping

I have had a DVT in my left leg for about 7 years now and the military doctors have more less than helpful. Since then it has grown to run down my femoral vein near my hip to just above my knee. What kinda of stocking would you recommend for the thigh region? I have not been able to be physically active as doing so much as walking up stairs raises my heart rate and blood pressure to cause ringing in my ears and massive fatigue.
3rescan, we really appreciate that you came to us for help, and believe us we would really love to help, but unfortunately there are rules preventing an answer. For a problem this complex and with so many variables, you really would benefit most from seeing a podiatrist in person. A problem of this nature really does require a proper history and physical. By getting non-specific advice online, it really can make your problem worse. If in the Michigan area consider coming to see us! www.michiganfootdoctors.com/ If possible, we would appreciate a quick review from you; these make a HUGE difference to us! g.page/r/CZWo3fJqJrVpEBM/review All best. If you have a DVT you should have by now been prescribed blood thinners to get rid of it. You cannot be allowed to carry on as normal with blood clot in your leg as it could kill you. I know because I have had two out of the blue. I have to say I’m a very slim and fit runner.

I understand what you’ve said, but you said nothing about obese people wearing Farrow wraps with fat calves. The ankles that look like rubber tires and swollen toes. This video was not helpful to me at all. You have lymphedema with pronation and old age, now that is a different story. Tell me about that.
I agree, farrow wraps are a different story. I love farrow wraps and for a special subset of people they are awesome and I fully pursue using them as well. Generally I start with unna wraps and then transition into better shoes, support and ankle braces as the wounds/skin issues improve.
