These 2 are so utterly broken that I hate seeing them on any other cv or another class. Drops like 3 fighter squadrons with huge areas of coverage and deals more damage than my planes as a support cv.
I just got a 2 CVs match with my div friend (york and amagi), and the player who use yorktown managed to save us from the swarm of enemy planes (ranger and kaga) droping smoke and fighters. We managed to survive to the end (i also got the AA badge). Sadly, our other teammates throw hard.
The "selfish" smoke is a good idea, until WG finally rework the CV spotting later. Assuming they will actually do the rework of course. Nonetheless, I'm waiting for some montage where Essex will drop her smoke to support Schlieffen at bulldozing the whole flank without being spotted (using secondaries & torp only).
Sooo if 30mm armor doesnt matter if youre smoked why not just increase the armor more? Right doesnt matter if it has 36mm of armor regardless if it smoke.... I just think this suppose to be used for more team play and smoking for team instead of just blanketing yourself because of bad armor
her aviation setup is pretty much the same as essex except her torps are extremely nerfed in alpha. as for armor, she has an underwater citadel which makes her essentially immune to most salvos (unless hit with plunging fire). you are safe from enemy colossus as yorktown.
The smoke screen is the most disgusting part of these carriers. I don't generally agree with the "mindlessly bash everything CV and sub related" crowd, but being able to drop smoke as a carrier for your team with relative impunity is genuinely disgusting.
Stealing a DD gimmick, basically the CV's speciality - stole the spotting gimmick, stole the torpedo gimmick, stole the being the fastest ship gimmick, now even the smoke gimmick. If they add the dumb minelaying gimmick for the new IJN carriers, they'll steal a real life DD gimmick that DD's don't even get in this game :D And worst of all, none of these gimmicks will make these carriers "support ships" - they'll still be straight up DPS.
Same, I actually really enjoy CVs being in the game and playing them, but this is just, way too much. At the very least, if you're gonna let some CVs drop smoke, remove torpedo squadrons from them, make them have less health and be slower, make them deal less damage overall, or atleast something. It's cool to see this stuff become a thing, support carriers is such a fun concept for the game, but God damn, these aren't support carriers, they're just normal ass carriers that have an ability which makes them go from arguably overpowered, to completely insane and unarguably overpowered. If you don't make any reasonable compensations, then you aren't making a support carrier, you're making probably the strongest class even more ridiculously strong for no good reason.
How would you counter a Essex in lets say a Malta? Just stay away and hope his not interested in you? Would Maltas AP bombs nuke Essex if you made it past the fighters and could see him in his smoke?
You can get some of them from the event pass and after finishing all the stages up to 320 tokens. As for outside of the event pass.. that's the best part. You don't. Only other way is the armory random bundles. It sucks lmfao
Yorktown rather than Essex so sick of reviews focusing on tier X the worst tier in the game full of op ships and elitist players nothing better than sinking a tier X tool with a tier 8 ship.
This game isn’t that hard to be good at. Maybe you should look for better and more positive players that can actually help you advance yourself to understand high tier play. T10 isn’t that op if you actually know what’s going on in the game and how to fully utilize your ship.
@@MegaBlackout77 Lol I have a 59% solo WR the point i was making is their X is both boring and shockingly bad gameplay helped by WG introducing OP ships for the P2w whales you get none of that mid tier where ships are more balanced.
you realize that tier for tier.. tier 8 is the most broken and oppressive tier out of the other available CV tiers? tier 10 has tech tree carriers which are free, steel and coal which are free and grindable.. so how is tier 10 cv p2w?
@@ReiYukihyo Yeah most people have normal lives so don't play 24/7 you completely miss the mark about op tier X ships you can whale them from containers you can buy resources with ease , And i never stated that just CVs were p2w their are plenty of ships at tier X that are completely broke compared to the tech line
When enough noobs cry about it, even Essex will receive 38mm armor. Wargaming only ever listens to CV and submarine player's complains, because those are the 2 classes that attract newcoming players the most.
Just found your channel and so far i love your videos and talk on different ships. But for the love of sanity get rid of the little kiddie captain voices or whatever they are that play during the game replays and videos. It's like watching a video put out by a five year old girl and for us older players it makes the videos almost unbearable lol.
