I can’t tell you how many people have reached out to me with a HUGE list of foods that they are “sensitive” to and that they’ve been told not to eat. They proceed to freak out because the list is so long and excludes all of their favorite things.

When these IgG food sensitivity tests are ran, they test for the levels of IgG present in your body in response to each food. But IgG is an antibody that is actually completely normal for the body to produce in response to eating different foods. In fact, it’s normal for you IgG level to generally be higher for the foods you eat more often, showing that your body tolerates that food well.

Unlike IgE tests, which are used to detect actual food allergies, IgG tests are unregulated and unproven. The few studies that seem to support IgG testing have been criticized for a variety of design flaws.

As a result the following organizations all strongly recommend against taking IgG food sensitivity tests:
American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology
The Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology
The European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology

Furthermore, this type of flawed food testing leads to unecessary dietary restrictions and food fears that can significantly decrease your quality of life.

In today’s video, I dive into this topic even more in depth. Enjoy!

This is interesting, though I'm not a fan of leaning away from something because "it leads to unhealthy behaviors". Human reaction to data shouldn't be a consideration for the data. I think they might be a decent indicator to get leads of foods to at least experiment with to see if there actually is an inflamation. I'm not sure if these tests should be -banned-, but maybe should not be labeled as a "allergy test" and should be required to disclose the details of what they actually do.

I'm so confused now. My functional provider had me take the food sensitivity test. It showed high levels of IgG response to all dairy except camel milk and eggs, along with things like watermelon and honey. She had me eliminate these foods based on the results and begin probiotics, prebiotics, and a GI detox to take care of H. Pylori, strep, staph, and to balance my gut bacteria. She said that the goal is to get my stomach to heal and produce digestive enzymes again so i can add those foods back. If IgG is a memory response that indicates a better tolerance, why didn't I get high levels for things like chicken or beef, and other foods that are staples of my diet like rice?

I think we simply need more research, it'll take years to know more.

I wish I'd heard this when our doctor urged my husband and I to take one of these tests. Been seeing a new doc now, and getting back on the right path, but after EIGHT YEARS of being severely limited in food choices, there's a lot of damage to repair... 😢 Thank you for making this video; hopefully it helps others to not fall prey to the same misinformation that I did... 😔

I kinda knew it was bs cause a lot of foods that I was sensitive to , I have never eaten in my life .

Similar to me, my test came up with carrots, fennel, sage, and gluten. Gluten was spot on, but the rest..... na.

Is it indicating those foods in particular though, or the chemicals that make up the food? Many foods overlap in chemical makeup

Thank you so much because I just got my results and the foods that I’m allergic to I don’t eat and some I just started eating cuz I used to have a plant based diet and barely ate any animal protein. Apparently I’m allergic to peaches and peach is one of my least favorite fruits. The last time I ate a peach was in 2019, I just don’t care for peaches. It also said I’m allergic to tuna and the last time I ate tuna was summer of 2023 but I only had it once. Whey was another one as well and I haven’t had anything with whey since 2021!!! I just no longer eat anymore protein shakes and bars or meal replacements cuz that stuff got so much sugar. Even before 2021, never had protein shakes, bars and meal replacements. I just started to take them for a few months during 2021. I’ve always thought that I’m allergic to eggs cuz I always get nauseous from the smell of it, so I don’t even eat eggs but apparently I’m not allergic to eggs 😂😂😂 like just the smell of eggs makes me want to throw up and it gives me a headache! also says im allergic to beef and man I stopped eating beef for 11yrs cuz people were saying that red meat is bad for you and I started eating it again late 2022 and I even noticed a healthy difference. I just feel happier and have more energy but apparently I’m “allergic” 😂😂😂 my doctor who does my colon hydrotherapy told me that I must be allergic to watermelon and I stopped eating watermelon late July of 2023 and it says that I’m not allergic to watermelon😂😂😂 I’m also “allergic” to chicken and man I love me some chicken, specially fresh organic chicken. such bs of these test. I just refuse to believe my results. I rebuke those results!!

I did a IgG test, and I was told that I am not tolerating some kind of food that I use to eat often. What kind of test I can do to know what kind of food I am intolerante or if I have any sensitivity because I have a lot of issues with my gut. Thank you for this valuable information!
@VictoriaDorsano
@VictoriaDorsano Год назад
So frustrating! Those tests need to be banned. I’d suggest doing an elimination diet with a registered dietician to figure out sensitivities and intolerances!

I did a food sensitivity test too and it showed I’m sensitive to foods I haven’t eaten like goat milk.

Hey so at 4:30 you mention that IgG is a marker of memory and high IgG levels are a response to your body being familiar with that particular food. So are you saying that the more I eat food in a particular time frame, the more intolerance test would should higher levels of IgG?
@VictoriaDorsano
@VictoriaDorsano Год назад
It doesn’t always work in a quantitative fashion like that, but to some degree that can be the case. Think of IgG as a memory antibody - so it’s presence just means that your body remembers that you’ve been exposed to that food before in some capacity. But it has nothing to do with creating an immune response
@user-lo9lu1zc5m
@user-lo9lu1zc5m Год назад
Could you explain why the body would be producing anti-bodies to certain foods and not others? And could you explain why you think that the fact that we have an immune response to certain foods is not damaging for the overall health?
@VictoriaDorsano
@VictoriaDorsano 11 месяцев назад
Hi! IgG antibodies are memory antibodies. So your body may mount more of a memory response to certain foods than others due to exposure over a lifetime. Everyone's immune system reacts differently. And having an immune response isn't always a sign of something bad happening or something harmful to your health. Our immune system does SO much! It helps us recognize things, protect from things, and run more efficiently (and WAY more than all that too). There are so many different types of immune molecules in our bodies that have various tasks - and only some of them being high can mean something is "off" - like in the case of auto-immune issues or chronic inflammation (all due to antibodies OTHER than IgG)

I notice my food sensitivity test said I can eat egg yolk but not egg white lol. The test also came with a digestive test and I was low on a few enzymes and probiotics
@d.b.7444
@d.b.7444 Месяц назад
Actually, that can be true. I'm one example.
@chastitylapp3187
@chastitylapp3187 11 месяцев назад
Can you explain then why I would have high sensitivity markers to foods that I don't like or don't eat at all or have never tried? Because, if I've never eaten it before then my body would have no memory of it correct??
@VictoriaDorsano
@VictoriaDorsano 11 месяцев назад
Happy to explain! This could be due to something called "cross-reactivity". Your body can produce IgG antibodies for foods that are similar to other foods or produced in the same environment. For example, let's say you have a high IgG response to red peppers. But you never eat red peppers. But you do eat tomatoes, and tomatoes are also part of the nightshade family of veggies. So your body may make an IgG antibody that recognizes many veggies in that family.

@@VictoriaDorsanoThis makes so much sense. I have Hashimoto’s and did a food sensitivity test to help me out in putting my autoimmunity in remission. I did an elimination diet for 5 months, but before that, I asked my doctor if I would ever be able to reintroduce the foods that I had “severe” reactions to and he said no. But I’m going against his advice and reintroducing these foods, slowly. So far, things are going good. There’s just too many foods I wouldn’t be able to eat if I eliminated them forever. I’m Latina and grew up on corn. To never be able to eat corn again, would be heartbreaking for me. Thank you for this information!
@ziggyflame6988
@ziggyflame6988 4 месяца назад
@@Sirie7206same here with the corn. My functional medicine doctor told me to eat everything my ancestors ate and being Latina, that’s something my ancestors ate a lot but now I’m told that corn is bad🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ no one in my family is allergic to corn. My mom grew up at a ranch cuz her dad owned so much land and they always had so much fresh food and corn was one of them and she and my family have never been allergic to corn. My grandma is till alive and she isn’t allergic to corn. Even the corn from here in the U.S.A. I even stopped eating corn tortillas and chips for 6months and felt the same. I only lost weight lol I just started eating corn tortillas and I feel great. I only eat one tortilla just cuz I like my weight loss results lol

Honestly, I eat more Paleo now with some additions like corn and potatoes. I eat them in moderation and I make sure they’re organic, non-GMO. I think the problem for me was that most corn out there in stores and restaurants is GMO. But there’s no way I’d be able to give corn up forever.
