With the evolution of AI art and the emergence of tools like ChatGPT, artist and other professions have started to feel pressure. As someone who is terrible at art but mediocre at game dev I wanted to find out if game devs are also in danger of being replaced by an ever evolving AI

Considering how many avocados in a box an AI needs to recognize an avocado in a box and how many pieces of art the stable diffusion dataset needed to steal from the internet, it helps to understand that AI will need a whole lot of full games to learn from in order to generate one.

One thing many people who fear AI's don't know is that it needs new material to learn and adapt. It can't fully replace creative jobs, because it needs human work to train on, otherwise it will have an outdated taste. And if it trains on itself, well then it will evolve into something that barely resembles what humans enjoy. So in the best case scenario, it will massively increase a person's scope, in worst case scenario, it will be a useless joke.
@TrepidFaceHugger
@TrepidFaceHugger Год назад
Why would it need "new material"? Where do humans get new material?
@gofrisuto
@gofrisuto Год назад
@@TrepidFaceHugger we change along our art. Based on what goes on our lives, we make new art. AI's would do kinda the same, but here's the catch: AI's don't have human lives, so they would change into a different direction. We both change, but AI's are always the providers, so they have to adapt to humans, so they need human art, until it's possible to simulate a full human.
@TrepidFaceHugger
@TrepidFaceHugger Год назад
@@gofrisuto Yes, it needs human reinforcement for now, and maybe it allways will. But it won't be long before it's superhuman and can experience a 1000 hypothtetical human lives. Indeed, the question remains if actual humans will like the result but some always will. To summarise, I disagree with your statement that AI can't be creative.
@gofrisuto
@gofrisuto Год назад
@@TrepidFaceHugger and where do you think he gets the information to simulate those lives? From humans. In the most extreme scenario, AI's will pick out certain people, and simulate their lives, because if they just simulate a world simultaneously, they will alienate themselves from human taste. While what you're saying can be possible, it will get blocked by a lot of ethics, and still, computers have yet to achieve both the processing power and the memory the brain has, so we have to wait for that. My conclusion: AI's can be creative, but they will only allowed to be by grabbing onto humans, and mimicking them. Because if AI's get creative in their own way, humans will have no enjoyment of it. In our lives, we are lucky, if we can use them. Have a good day.

I’ve found AI has helped me learn much more than the course I’m taking. No, I’m not just asking it for the code, and leaving it as is. I’m asking about the process of writing the scripts, asking it to define certain things, running through the code if I don’t understand it is able to actually teach it. Super helpful for a learner!

I mean yeah, ai coding aint that good yet, unfortunately give it enough time and you'll be forced to adapt to work with and around ai
@TheKrazyGamerr

someone still needs to be there to understand how to use the output from the ai. Just because you can get code from the ai, doesnt mean you know how to use it. Also a lot of the time it may be incorrect or unoptimized.
@overphildev

I'd say yes. You'll probably have to learn to work with it but like I said in the video the ai still needs people who have ideas and an understanding to make it work

To answer the title, no, absolutely not and won't be for some time. Neither are artists or songwriters. At best AI will become increasingly useful in automating more laborious tasks, allowing game devs to create bigger games faster. For now ;)

@@overphildev if u actually understand ai structure EVERY SINGLE ai model that exists today will not be able to have creativity, they need training, and they train on human works, they cant create anything new or have ideas, at most they can combine human works, which is what those image ai and video ai do, they follow some set rules, and they learn the patterns in human works, which basically means they can only put out the patterns they have seen during training, they can put out new images, but those arent exactly new, those are just some combination of different patterns they have seen from different human works during training and an ai training can be continuous, for example, u could put an ai in a game which is a simulated environment, and use the environment as feedback input to train continuously because its output is in some way tied to its input, u could have an ever evolving ai however, no consciousness can be developed, and creativity is experience, as in human experience, emotional and physical in the end, the ai is just some training decided numbers hidden somewhere in the parameters, like a big equation that always give the same result, no actual randomness, once the training ends, give it the same raw input, then the same output will come out so some completely new model will need to be developed quantum computers may have this possibility

I think ChatGPT is an amazing technology, but it cannot create a whole game by itself. It can generate some aspects of a game, such as dialogue, story, characters, etc., but it still needs human input and creativity to make a game that is fun, engaging, and coherent. Game development is not just about writing code or text, it’s also about design, art, music, sound, testing, marketing, etc. ChatGPT cannot do all of these things, and even if it could, it would not have the same vision or passion as a human game developer. Game devs are not in trouble, they are in demand. ChatGPT is a tool, not a threat. 🎮 (This comment was generatet with the ChatGPT integration of Bing)

I'm rooting for a future where AI remains mostly as an aid, and not as a complete replacement for human creativity. I don't mind if it replaces dangerous or menial tasks for instance, but I feel it would be tragic if it substitutes human-made art and creativity. It's hard to tell exactly how things will pan out, considering just how crazy capable various AI already have become. And they're obviously only going to continue improving at ridiculous speeds. We'll see

@@urnoob5528 I'm not really meaning to say AI can have creativity, as much as its ability to basically mimic. If said mimicking becomes convincing enough, it might become hard to tell whether something was created by a human or an AI
