Hi all, hope you are doing well. 😊 New videos are coming very soon, I was just too busy with other things in life.
🎓Here is a break-down of the content in the video:
I only paid 1450 Euros for my Bachelors and Master’s degree combined in Germany, at TU Munich where I studied Mechanical Engineering in my bachelor's and Mechanical Engineering & Management in my master's.
🎓Let’s dive right in:
- Public universities don’t have tuition fees in Germany!
- My semester fee for 6 months were around 140 euros, when I graduated 4 years ago. This included 2 parts: student body (like canteen and the dormitories and other governmental uni facilities) then public transportation.
- I had to check it is 85 per semester at TUM now. It has become even cheaper because of the ‘Germany ticket’ ‘Deutschland ticket’ for transportation also known as 49-Euro-Ticket. It is valid for one month and for public transportation in Germany (not including high speed ICE, IC and EC trains).
Although I am/was international living in Germany, I wasn’t an international student as a category. I went to a German high school abroad, so they were counting me as ‘Bildungsinländer’ or roughly translated as ‘academic nationals’.
🎓Changes for international students:
- For example at TUM student fees for international students range for Bachelors 2-3k and for Masters 4-6k.
- This started in October 2023 at TUM (last year). A few of the German universities still don't have any tuition fees for international student. It depends on the state and the university.
🎓All in all: I think compared to the quality of education a person can get at public universities. German universities are a bargain. Like the best price/quality ratio in Europe in my opinion 😉
I hope this gives you an overview about German universities. Thanks for watching, hope to see you next time! 😊🙏
