In this clip from Capturing Christianity, I describe what happens in Near-Death Experiences and how they--together with Deathbed Visions and spontaneous After Death Communications--provide evidence for an afterlife.

When my grandmother was still alive but suffering from terminal illness, she saw that my cousin was going to be called from this life and she was wailing and calling out her name. My cousin died unexpectedly 5 days before my grandmother passed. I don’t know how she knew my cousin was going to die.

I had an out of body experience whilst meditating that brought me back to Catholicism. It wasn’t an NDE but I felt like I broke through to the eternal present moment and I had a knowing of “return to the sacraments if you truly want to increase your vibrations”. Now I go to mass and adoration as much as possible pray the rosary daily. My wife also converted to Catholicism shortly thereafter.

There's one woman I knew who is now deceased, may she rest in peace, but decades prior to her death, she suffered a cardiac arrest at home. When EMS arrived, they she had no heartbeat. They performed CPR all the way to the hospital, and eventually they did get her heart to beat on its own. Her teenaged kids were eager to hear about what she saw when her heart wasn't beating, and I was there to hear them ask her about it. But she just snapped, "Nothing. I didn't see anything." And she never wanted to talk about it again. I do remember noticing that she became much more polite after that, though. Eventually she reverted to her crabby, gossipy ways, but I pray that her soul may worship before the Throne of God.

I will stick will easy understandable scripture. “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I would love to learn more about the relationship between NDEs and purgatory, there seems to be disparity between NDE anecdotes and dogma. Although I have heard of purgatory NDEs, but they are surprisingly few.

Yes, please, and if you could also address the reincarnation issue. I've listened to or read hundreds of NDE accounts these last few years and almost all of them mention past lives. Also there are almost always life reviews but "without judgement" and they seem to be meant to teach a lesson (about love) to the soul, which may or may not go on reincarnating. When you listen to countless of these accounts and they all more or less say the same basic things, it's difficult to not believe them - and they ARE at odds with Catholic / Christian teaching/dogma. Thanks for your content, Jimmy. Always awesome. I love what you do! God bless 🌹

Purgatory NDEs might not have a particular purpose. Also, in almost everyone's imagination purgatory is very Earth like.
@atrifle8364
@atrifle8364 3 месяца назад
- Not all NDEs are without judgement. The ones that do involve judgement don't get recorded with any sort of frequency, for perhaps obvious reasons. Publication bias would be towards the new age sort of experiences. We also have the problem that they were telling the tale while still in this life. The line between hallucination and experience is admittedly thin. Most of the world was peasantry and half, women largely with families.The kind of past life reported is critical in establishing what might be at least a credible experience. Not every in a past life was Cleopatra or Caesar or similar with a different name. If the reports are relatively varied and well, boring that's at least credible. Multiple reports of a pseudo celebrity status with similar lives suggests a common wish.

Are there homosexuals who had NDEs who were told that being homosexual would be sin?
@wachuku1
@wachuku1 3 месяца назад
Kind of. I’ve noticed that NDEs seem to be very uncommon for that demographic. But, for the most part, it’s implied rather than outright stated that their homosexuality is OK. I have seen a handful near death experience stories in which openly gay men, for example, didn’t experience hellfire (instead experiencing very much the opposite), and, in one case, speaking about their male partner while going through their NDE, which, too, was a positive experience. At no point were they ever told it was wrong. In another case, I did see a near death experience in which a young man asked Jesus if it’s OK to be gay, to which he responded positively, albeit in a slightly ambiguous way. This is highly controversial, though, given how homosexuality is treated in the Bible. Additionally, many Christians do not believe in the validity of NDEs if there’s even the tiniest amount of extra- or counter-biblical information in them, which they support with 2nd Corinthians 11:14 in which Satan is said to be able to masquerade as an angel of light, and 2 Thessalonians 2: 11-12, in which God is said to send people a strong delusion to believe a lie and be damned for embracing what he is not. Thus, there are many videos in Christian circles that basically state that experiences like the ones I mentioned previously were cleverly crafted deceptions by Satan and his agents to fool people into believing that they’re OK as they are while in this precarious near-death state. It’s a problematic assumption, though, since the position can easily cast doubt on more typically Christian NDEs. There are some people who claim to have had experiences with God, which involved a sudden sense of conviction for their homosexuality, and perceived strong signs that God does not like it. Some also claim that they received information suggesting that demonic influence was the source of their homosexuality. On the other hand, there are a handful that still suggest the opposite, that God is OK with it. I recall a story of a man who claims that, while at church, he got a very strong conviction from God that he was living a lie by pretending to be heterosexual, which led him to come out. So, it’s a bit inconclusive.

We know that people hallucinate when their brain isn't getting enough oxygen. Is it your view that people who aren't dead go to the afterlife? Because that's who we are talking about here. People who are alive having experiences. Hence why they are called NEAR death experiences and not DEAD experiences. No one has returned from the dead.

@@jilesbo9175you both are incredibly wrong and the top NDE researchers even say this . Jimmy Akin gained even more credibility by doing good research into the NDE scientific literature . First off dr Sam Parnia who is one of the top NDE researchers in the world is lobbying the medical community to change ndes happening during cardiac arrest for change them from ndes fo ADES or actual death experiences z And lack of o then in the brain don’t explain veridical ndes which actially beijg back independent verifiable information action such as the Pam Reynolds , mister A from aware 1 study and and dr Pim Van lommels denture man NDE published in the lancet journal . Lack of oxygen also doesn’t explain ndes in people who are born blind who have never experienced visual imagery in their dreams who can suddenly see during their ndes . You both need to go through the NDE literature and actually study it and then won’t be so quick to assert that mister Jimmy didnt do his homework . I have studied ndes for 13 years and I was actually still An atheist at that point . I’m now a catholic

There is one case of resurrecting from the dead and at least 2 cases of a complete disappearance of a body.
@angelbrother1238

When people go flatlined on the eeg during cardiac arrest they are considered clinically dead . The eeg measures all Electrical activity at the base of the brain precisely where the occipital lobe is . Why is this important ? Because the occipital lobe is responsible for visual processing so if the occipital lobe has no electrical activity in it you are not supposed to be experiencing visual imagery yet nders are experiencing visual imagery at this point which is another piece of evidence that ndes aren’t being caused by the brain

@@jilesbo9175- It's pretty clear that materialists are mostly listening to each other about how about how smart they are. Try listening to the video. By far is the most compelling evidence is the information they could have or should have not known. Lack of oxygen doesn't produce information.

@@atrifle8364 bingo and they keep missing this part because they don’t want to deal With it because they will He forced to doubt their materialism. In other words they are caught in between a rock and a hard place . They are screwed if they ignore this evidence and they are screwed if they try to deal With it . Imagine the shock and horror for them to find out that they could be ultimately special 😂
