This was such a great riding video! Actually I have this saved on the top of my bookmarks, because this will definitely help in choosing an SSR! A few days ago, I saw some guys washing a pair of muddy SSR 125's, and they too said they're great little bikes! Working in the Moto industry, I got to have one of these considering a 150, or 250 Honda is like $5k+.
Thank you for the great comment! We are very happy to hear that you liked the video. They are great bikes and a lot of fun to ride! I hope you end up getting one the only recommendation I would say is to change out the chain and lock tight everything
i had an ssr125, ripped it hard, probably 2000 miles of rough riding, tough 4x4 trails, off trail, even raced it a bit. i remember once i rode for probably 25 miles wide open pinning it on the roughest dirt road. 100% reliable, cept the grips wore and i broke the pegs a couple times ;) i regret selling it, will be buying another
These things definitely take a beating. I can’t wait for the weather to get better so we can go and ride again. We have had so much snow here can’t wait for spring to hurry up and get here! Sounds like you had a blast with yours! I hope you get another soon!
@@cowradishh8220 just got a 125 loud af take a stainless steal can wrap up a wealding blanket and slip it over the muffler with electrical tape no effect on the power or performance
there alot of fun but ive had alot of problems with mine just little things tho snapped throttle cable snapped clutch cable. air filter breaking. but i ride the shit out of mine and its held up pretty well for how i ride it
Heck yeah! There good little bikes and they rip. When we got them we didn’t think they were going to be as good as they were. Thank you for watching the video and for the comment! If there’s anything you want to see us do, let us know!
Cool video I own a 125 ssr and I honestly suggest to swap out the carb, clutch and throttle cable and the chain roller. I also through a blitzpro led headlight on mine its literally plug and play.
That’s awesome we have carbs in the mail. What clutch did you use? That headlight must be great for trail riding I’ll have to look into it! Thanks for the comment we have a ton of mods coming for ours soon if the snail mail ever arrives! I want to do a real vs fake carb video of the mikuni carbs and compare them!
@@throttlefamily4655 I used a 1PZ clutch and throttle cable and I went with a nibbi 26mm carb it runs better then before I haven't had any issues since I did those changes. Hope that helps a bit.
Ohh yea all the imputes we get are always helpful we have about 40 hours on them now and Alissa has gotten a lot faster so we can actually rail single trails now such a blast I have more fun on these than I do on big bikes.
That’s awesome congratulations! We just got one of our new carbs in the mail today we are going to do a cheap vs. expensive carb video on here so we are going to have a good performance review soon!
Moistyplayz so far I’m still enjoying it. I just need to get a new carb because the stock one isn’t very good, but that’s expected for a Chinese bike. I’d definitely recommend one for a first time rider.
If someone is not ok, you will figure it out pretty easy, thats part of them not being ok. It's like saying bless you when someone sneezes, unneeded culture norm
Anyone out there thinking about buying a SSR you will not be disappointed. I bought a 110cc and a 125cc SSR about 4 years ago and they are still running like champs! They do require a little TLC compared to some Hondas that I used to own way back in the day but just for having some off road fun they were well worth the price. Lots of fun.
the ssr pitbikes are massively underated. i had two 125's that i bought one for me and one for my friend. mine got stolen but my buddy still has his and he swapped a 140cc racing engine into it and man its quick. the engines on them are insainely reliable. i literally tried blowing mine up and i couldent
Damn I had a ssr 125 years ago..paid 650$ shipped to my front door and all...now they want over a thousand dollars for them! Not worth 1k..minus well buy a real brand name used bike..they are a blast for the first couple months but the chain always breaks the stators on these things and you get a bunch of problems with spark and ignition bc of the china wiring harness..wasn't just my bike that did it, my friends bought them too, they all had problems in the long run...I'm just more pissed they raised the prices on these damn things...
Yea they have made a few changes to them as far as build quality including a new frame. I will say the chains do suck on them ours are stretched out now but we have over 40 hours on them but other than that we haven’t had any major problems with them I even weigh 195 and with gear over 200 and I haven’t bottomed out the front end yet but then again I have only hit a few small jumps maybe 4 or 5 feet in the air. I know they used to be absolute garbage. I think ssr has come a long way since then. Even there disc brakes they have now are good.
Just want to say thank you for your comment and input I will keep an eye out for any issues so I can let people know if anything comes up we just want to give our honest opinions of these bikes even in our newer videos
dyllman98 they’re easy af to work on, we’re talking 40$ to replace literally every thing you mentioned. I just swapped one of these motors into my 50cc chopper, the carb that came with it was shit, but took me 5 minutes to put the other one on.
Im still looking at the APollo 125 and SSR. Love this. I used to ride all over calif, and want to get my wife and son doing it. We will prob go with the SEMI autos. I will be doing less technical stuff just hititng the fore trails and OHV parks out here in Cali. Great video
@@throttlefamily4655 Used to ride the Rubicon, Hollister. La Grange, Carnige. We camp all the time and will be in Tahoe this week. Heard there aplace in SOuth shore called The Sand Pit
I just read her your comment she says thank you and yea she was hauling ass at the end for sure. I was shocked at how fast she was for her first time riding.
throttle family yeah mate I’m a lad and I don’t think I would’ve done that my first time well actually I do remember my first time I was a slug haha all the best to you both with this covid-19 stay safe love to see y’all back out soon ❤️❤️
Thank you I hope we can be back in action soon as of right now it’s staying home trying to find stuff to keep us busy. Hope your staying safe as well hopefully we will all be back out there doing what we love as soon as the snow melts where we go riding we should be back at it again!
What would be people recommend. I'm 6 ft 3. 13 stone. Was originally looking at WPB 190 best. Then someone recommended the CW 190s. Am looking for all round. Build quality. Price. Overall. Thanks
Honestly you would be fine with a ssr 125 they are great and a great price I’m 6.2 190lbs with my gear and backpack around 215 plus and it carries me around no problems. I’ve even tested it on some small jumps no problems.
@@throttlefamily4655 I'd still prefer something bigger than a 125. Had a look at stomp z3 160. 170 Detroit . But will be likely I get the cw190 at the moment.
Glad these held up so well to adults. I’m very strongly considering buying 2-4 of them so I can take the family trail riding. The Chinese bikes are still nowhere near Japanese quality, but the riding i want to do doesn’t require Japanese quality 😅
These bikes are awesome I have about 150 hours on mine now and still running strong! I definitely recommend getting them just make sure you lock tight all the bolts you can get to and they won’t fall apart also make sure to check your chain tightness and keep up on the oil changes and you shouldn’t have any problems with them
I got a 110 semi automatic for my daughter as a first bike and she really enjoys it. They're very cold blooded machines but I'd love to get a 125 for myself to rip around the yard
The reason she fell is because nearly all newbies to bikes have their feet down TOO OFTEN. I used to race motocross. Feet are up before you move. They stay on the pegs except around a fast berm and even then just skimming. Keep feet up. Have fun!
That is a good deal use lock tight on every bolt and make sure the chain has the proper tension and change the oil it is one quart of 4 stroke 10-40 I have a video on how to maintain bikes in my ssr play list. You are going to love it and if you keep up with the maintenance this bike should last you a really long time.
Why is the red one look different. Is it better or cheaper than the with one because I'm planning on buying one .please help I'm interested in the red on .but witch one is better. Can you give me the info of both of them and the years.
They are both 2019 just the white one we swapped plastics with the older model. The major thing is on the old ones the rear tires are different. Also they didn’t mark the bolts on the old one to see if they have started to come loose. I hope you get one they are great bikes for the price.
Hey throttle family I’m new to dirt bikes and I was wondering what bike I should get as a starter its either the Apollo or the ssr 125 I want to hit jumps and do trails which one
My wife is just a natural she picked it up faster than other people I have taught. It definitely takes some practice and just stay calm when teaching because one bad experience could cause her to not want to ride. Stick with with it and teach her positioning I taught her on a stand bike positioning before we went for a ride
Late comment, but are these worth it? I'm 16 years old not alot of money to go blow on expensive bikes, and im not tall, 5,6. Would this fit me and still perform right?
Yes these are great bikes you just have to do the maintenance like you do on every bike. I’m 6.2 200lbs and it rips with me on it and Alissa is 5,6 and it definitely fits her good
Yea they are very good we have over 40 hours on ours now and on top of that we have power mods coming for them so make sure you are subscribed to see more content on them also real vs fake upgraded 26mm carbs in the mail now
Went in Talked to Jim at SAc Cycle, great guy he said you all are good ppl too. Quick question- WHen you bought from him and got the MCO certificate, how was process at DMV? Red or Green sticker? What fees did you pay? just wandering if you had to pay DMV tax? Thanks
It’s easy you just take it in and they are red sticker we have been riding local trails so we we haven’t registered them but it cost under 100 to register for two years our big bikes are all registered
@@throttlefamily4655 Awesome thanks. Just wasnt sure if we buy with cash, wonder if DMV still collects tax for sale price, like they do when you buy and trasfer ownership of a used car
Which model 125 are these? I’m trying to debate between Apollo, SSR, Piranha, Thumpstar, and Pitster, a 125 is all I need for the yard I have. I just want something that’s not super expensive but won’t fall apart after 5 months
They are 2019 ssr 125s just the regular ones these bikes are great I have about 17 hours of hard riding on them right now. This bikes are awesome I have nothing but great things to say about them. Definitely worth the money.
HeyItsAsmus first off, something to note is that these bikes are easy as hell to work on. Every brand you mentioned is pretty good. People say the chain goes, that’s a 10$ fix, the carb goes, 10$ fix, the throttle/clutch cable snaps, 10$ fix. Everything seems to be about 10$ for these bikes, and since they’re easy as hell to work on it doesn’t matter. They will almost never experience any catastrophic damage, unless intentionally induced.
They definitely have some pick up and go with me being 200lbs it still goes about 40mph definitely can change the gearing and you could go a little faster
i got a ssr ...... a bit squirrelly they are...i changed out my chain to a gold renthal.........absolutely no issues....... little bit of locktight on the bars......thats it ....im 230 6.2.......love it..........cool vid..........
That’s awesome I put lock tight on every bolt gold pro taper chain, knock off mikuni carburetor, fast ace rear shock, front shock spacers huge difference the bike rides so much smoother I love it same I’m 200lbs and 6.2
@@throttlefamily4655 i had sum full size 2 strokes......yz cr..250......but the most fun i ever had are these pitbikes......cant believe how loud they are........i dig it........more vids please......
