I was about to write the same. Its amazing how many reviewers/youtubers said the same about the pedals. I got my pedal just 2 weeks ago, and this was something I notice just a few minutes after I took them out of the box. You can move each pedal to the right and to the left. In fact I believe is a way better design that those pedals that have the holes in the front. Anyways, overall is a nice short review.
honestly cant believe how he didnt even notice that. you can literally see in the b-roll the two other pairs of screwholes you can move the pedal plates to.
Its so weird that they wouldn't just remove the piece if it causes a problem. The spring in the brake is already the strongest why add a piece that makes it unusable.
Have you ever driven a real car? There is a natural dead space and once the brake pads touch the discs the pedal becomes extremely stiff. I've bought a used G920 and put the rubber back then recalibrated the pedal. It is not that easy in real life to reach 100% braking power, removing that rubber is simply not realistic. For it to become more realistic, a two-stage spring is a better option, the original one is too stiff at the beginning, there is no dead space feeling.
Funny but its the complete opposite for me, I mainly race with open wheel cars that doesnt have abs so my wheels lock up easily and I use the mighty g27 that doesnt have the rubber block in the brake so i stuffed some very stiff rubber in it and my brake pedal become like a solid piece of concrete 😅(it makes it much easier to apply consistent brake pressureso my wheel doesnt lock up) It took a while to get the hang of it but i cant live without it now
Real racecars have a VERY stiff brake pedal. The average person can barely push down the brake of a Formula 1 car so the stiff brake is a part of realisim NOT a annoying flaw.
You're completely right in that. Although, I think the reason it's annoying on such a budget set is that most people who run the G29 simply have it clamped to a desk, and sit on an office chair. And due to the stiffness, they probably end up rolling back or swiveling, which is pretty off-putting.
Real racecars have a stiff pedal but it still have plenty of travel. The pedals on this setup only detect input over a millimeter of travel and that just aint correct
"The brake works with a potentiometer, that register how far the pedal moves, and not with a pressure sensor" (essentially). The harder you press, the further it'll go, so it's the same overall, it's all psychological
Im here to make life slightly better. If you unscrew and take apart the pedals you will find that there is a small rubber block in the brake pedals spring. It can easily be taken out and then it feels like the other pedals.
DO NOT DO THIS, the logistics software for the pedals are programmed to include the stopper and therefore meaning it gets more sensitive the more pressure you press onto the black runner stopper. if you take the stopper out, and press the brake a little bit the software registers it as a lot of brake.
the rubber stop is meant to simulate a race car, not a normal road car hence the more pressure needed to press it. thrustmusters brakes are even harder but adjustabke
@@alvincheung8044 Yep, removing the bumper completely is not a good idea, but you can shave it down a bit or put something similar in its place to modify the resistance to your taste.
im was planning on buying this wheel and selling my old g27, but for this price i'd rather buy a t300rs gt. i know that one is more expensive but not that much and its a lot more realistic and premium wheel
That goes without saying... What kind of an "upgrade" would that be? If you could "trade in" the G27 and get the newer one for, like, $25, that would be one thing, but just buying a whole new G29/G920 for the full price, that just doesn't make any sense.
I have both a t300rs gt and a G27 The t300rs gt steering is so much better than the G27 but the G27 has a much better feeling brake pedal I got an adapter to plug my G27 pedals in to the t300rs gt from the Thrustmaster store, they only have the adapter in the UK online store
@@mAtT47739 looking into purchasing a rig I’m thinking of getting a g27 but I head the wheel isn’t too good, should I just buy a g29 or get the g27 and upgrade from there
Tbh after a few hundred hours on this pedal, I really am satisfied with all the pedals. Even the brake. The only annoying thing about it is that its noisy
yep me too, the noise is the only downside imo, but that be fixed by cranking up the engine volume haha, the brake pedal was weird but I found tuning brake bias and force within the car made the pedal perfect.
@@Synthetic-Chicken there are screws that you need to lube. and all good. The dust gets there and it starts to make friction. that's why they are noisy.
honestly I find the pedals are fine, not perfect, but they're pretty usable early on if you can get a way to keep them from moving around your set up (though thats basically impossible on tile without a mount), though I will agree the brake is really stiff, but the big problem with this wheel set is really the shifter if you get that option
In one hand, this brake pedal reminds me a little of a BMW 325i that a friend lend to me...That bmw had the vacuum pump and/or servo brake faulty. In order to brake I had to LITERALLY step over the pedal. But, at least in the sim racing the car actually stops. Thus, I would say the Logitech pedals are very close to the Citroën "Hidropneumatic" brakes. If you had drive one of those (CX, GSA, DS, etc) maybe you will understand. :)
As a G923 owner and experienced sim racer, the pedals are really not that bad. Sure the brake feels stiff, but for the price, you can't complain. especially with the amount of mods on the market for the wheel, shifter and pedals. it's an easy entrance without a big pay gap and it's easy to maintain due to the way it operates.. the bigger issue is indeed the sliding of the pedals. even against a wall it will find a way to move around. But if you're handy and know how to mount it or use a playseat ( low budget idea) using the 3 screw holes you're able to brake as hard as you want. It ain't Thrustmaster or fanatec quality, but it's a lot better than most low budget pedals. especially when these pedals come with the wheel. and if you don't have a drivers licence or driven a car, then trust me, you won't know any better.
Stiff? It's not stiff enough. I had to buy an aftermarket stiffer spring. Now I can actually use muscle memory to regulate the brake. Before it was just too light and by position and then hit that rubber block.
I just took my g29 peddles a part and took the rubber stop out the spring it effectively makes your break as responsive to touch as your accelerator. It's a must do otherwise the break is awful.
@@Nothj56 Yeah but it’s also meant to work properly so you can be competitive which it doesn’t unless you take the thingy out completely or replace the rubber stop inside with something better.
Actually I Highly recommend Ricmotech's LC27-3 Load cell conversion Upgrade kit V3 for Logitech G Series Pedals makes The Pedals Much better & Realistic
just calibrate the pedals and when it comes to the brake push it down as hard as feels comfortable, that becomes the new 100% depressed value and fixes the issue entirely without ruining the feeling of it simulating a real brake
Definitely, I don't know where all these people came from saying you have to physically open up the pedals and mod it taking out the block. Sounds ridiculous and over complicated compared to just calibrating in software.
you can move each pedal left or right slightly also, you can switch the brake spring/stopper to help with the brake feel for $30 or so. the spring change makes the g29/920 pedals feel like the better 923 pedals
Hear me out: the thing with this pedal set is that I just truly love the build and the look and feel (not while pressing though :P) of it, for that reason I took the route of upgrading the internals with various hall sensors and TrueBrake, I used the brake spring inside the clutch and the clutch spring inside the throttle and I'm using a cable converter to independently plug it to the computer so I can use a different wheel. They now feel so amazing, as good as they look and I'd never want to change them. The TrueBrake honestly feels like a good load cell. I know this is not the most money upgrade path, but it was for me as I started with the full G29 set gifted to me then upgraded the break pedal and finally the wheel.
I upgraded to a true brake around about a month ago. I have just ordered a Leo Bodnar cable and a stiffer (38kg) spring for the true brake. The true brake makes a huge difference but that shitty braking curve in the wheel firmware makes braking so inconsistent. If the cable really makes the difference it is supposed to, I won’t be in a rush to upgrade my pedals because the mods have cost me around £100. Rather get a new wheel base.
Actually I followed a RU-vid Video on how to remove a rubber stopper that's in the brake pedal spring. It's really easy and makes a HUGE difference in brake pedal feel. And you can move the pedals, just unscrew them and you will see three sets of holes for each pedal. Go to MpowR and he has a how to video.
Those pedals are completly fine. Changed my clutch spring with the throttle since i dont drive with clutch and installed a progressive spring for the brake and those pedals work just the way they should be sure you cant compare them to high price pedals like Fanatec and so on but they do there job just fine.
I still use mine with my thrustmaser tx alcantara wheel. Eventually, I hope to get the tlcm pedals, but to me upgrading the wheel was more important. Feels so much less like a toy. For me the pedals don't take away from my immersion the way the g29 wheel did.
After replacing that rubber thing in brake pedal and cutting back cover (in 3 places, so that whenever potentiometers get dirty i can clean them easily + I covered holes up with tape so that they don't get dirty too easy) - They aren't that bad! You just need isopropyl, different rubber, something that can cut throught back plate with SOME degree of precision, some tape and like 1-2 hours.
My 3rd set G29 pedals finally gave up… F1 2019 I can adjust brake deadzone, but GTSport you cannot - my brakes are stuck ON more and more regularly, again… Difficult to find pedals alone to buy. Thinking about upgrading to new wheel altogether…
@@stansmith1304 I have Thrustmaster T150 now. So far no problems with brakes but I miss the thicker wheel grip, clutch, and extra buttons of the G29! (Also button placement much better on G29)
3:20 actually you can adjust your pedals, though it is just slight a bit. But you can unscrew the screws in the pedals' front and there are three placements for each pedals to adjust, maybe 2cm distance from each placements in a single pedal. So, you're wrong, you can somewhat adjust the pedals and I think it is more than enough for a pedal set like this. And considering the price, I would say it's better than not having the ability to adjust...
Strange how people want the brakes to not feel like the real thing? Brakes work on pressure not travel like an accelerator, so the harder you press the more pressure between the discs and pads, hence why the more expensive pedal sets use load cells to simulate this.
I have been using the g29 and pedals for 5 years they have been flawless, and to be honest they feel high quality if you ask me. I’ve got myself the TGT2 for Christmas so I’ll see if the pedals on that are better or not, and the g29 pedal plates are in fact adjustable in height and in left and right, remove the plates adjust the block and adjust the plate, loads of options.
I guess I really need to try something expensive to understand this because almost all good games offer option to adjust brake sensitivity. You can get the pedal to apply 100% brake at 50% the travel which will take much less effort & you can set it exactly at the point it becomes too stiff.
I bought a g920 to get into sim racing and I instantly felt how bad these pedals felt. Had to almost stand on the brake to apply full pressure. Definitely you get what you pay for here. After 2 hours of use, I ordered the Thrustmaster Tx Leather Edition and upgraded the pedals for the load cell T-LCM pedals and retured the logitech when the tx arrived lol granted I had to pony up extra money, it was totally worth it.
My pedals must be bad then, mine broke in one month (literally) I went on vacation for Halloween and I couldn't bring my pedals and they broke (spiky pedals, tried taking apart and fixing pot, didn't work at all) I don't even know what happened anymore. its now a year later and I am already hating logitech for automatically closing my warranty claims
Here’s the trick to these. Buy the “loadcell” Truebrake mod from AXC. It absolutely transforms these into a completely different level. Find a good set from someone willing to give them away. Then remove the pedals from the plastic case and mount them either inverted, or to a stiffer plate (steel, wood, aluminum). I think to feel an upgrade now I’d have to spend $600+ on some real high end stuff with a load cell.
Take the bumper out of the brake pedal. I had a half inch or less than 25% pedal travel and it was rock hard. Removing the bumper and problem gone and full travel and much less effort required. I now have actual brakes in ACC.
My G29 pedals lasted less than 18 months. I had issues with the potentiometer in the accelerator pedal. Apparently this is common due to the amount of use the accelerator pedal has. I stripped and rebuilt the pedal set several times before finally giving up on them. I've now upgraded my pedals to Fanatec V3's, I could have gone for CSL's, but chose the v3's instead because they have hall sensors rather than potentiometers. The good news is, despite what others say, you can use the V3's with the G29 wheel on a PS4, all you need is the Drivehub and it works perfectly. You won't get the rumble motors working on the V3, but that's not really a problem in my view.
And I like to add they are not reliable. Mine has a noise problem on both accelerator and brake. When you clean the potentiometers with contact sprey it's ok for 1-2 weeks but then problem starts again. Lots of people experiencing the same issue with this pedals. Steering wheel is fantastic btw even after 3 years.
I can tell you you’re wrong about the adjustment part of the pedals. The pedal plate can be adjusted so that you can move them further apart from each other or closer to each other. You just have to take off the pedal plates by taking off the caps the black caps on the pedals and you’ll see the pedal plates adjustability 😅
I wish you could remap the brakes to the clutch pedal. It wouldn’t even matter bc most cars you race are paddle shift anyway and dont beed a clutch. Especially when the shift knob isn’t even included
G920 user here for 2yrs. They serve their purpose but I feel like the throttle is the down fall for me. hard to be consistent with input before spinning tires.
I had a Logitech G27 and then update to a G29. In both, the potentiometer of the brake degrade and I had to swap the one of the clutch. Luckily, I didn't use de gear shift.
Yes they are. Basically from 60% brake to 100% is stiff and from 60 to 0 they have no resistance. Pretty shit. I would have no issue with it but my current set up doesnt allow me for this as my chair just gets lifted from the ground when i apply 100% braking which is a big no no. So i need to remove the rubber or reconfigure it
Change the spring of the brake pedal for a two stage one and remove that rubber bit. Done. Can`t really be better than that unless you go for higher end, so much higher price.
Thrustmaster t3pa or t3pa pro with brake mod is the best bang for buck on a budget. Progressive resistance from the conical brake mod is close to a real car considering it's price but it takes some breaking in to do compared to springs.
You can buy T3pa for £70/80 used in pretty good condition. The only problem is that the mods costs around £30/40 for each pedals and you need to mod at least 2 pedals which ends up taking the price closer to a T-Lcm new or even above a used one.
so I had my G29 for less than 3 months and my throttle was acting funny, took it apart to clean the electrical contacts, when i did, the gear connecting the pedal itself to the input just crumbled into pieces.
to be honest i dont really have a problem with the brake pedal when i brake i hold the wheel to not go back and when my pedals slide i go under the pedals and wipe off the dust or dirt on the rubber pads to make them stop sliding but i can put 100% braking easly but i have put i need to press 87% on ac to get full braking force
I just found an amazing tutorial on youtube how to fix the brake and it makes a lot of sense , and those who drove a car before knows that brakes are harder to push than the accelerator and with that fix I think that it will be perfect , like in a real car
thats why i am gonna get the G29 WITH JUST 2 PEDALS. I don't need a pro set. i saw the new G29 ON THE WEBSITE, the 2 pedals on their site. if not i can always get the ThrustMaster 128, 248, or 1 of the 3. I AM REALLY WORRIED, I don't want to get the wrong set.
Theyre not bad and with little tuning can be a bit better, but ive had to clean my potentiometer on the gas and brake pedal mutiple time within a short time
Yes, the brake is terrible. Nearly impossible for me to get any kind of consistent breaking, especially on a console where they don't let you make adjustments to the brake. You can take the black rubber part out of the brake pedal spring which is better but then the brakes are too soft, at least you can apply consistent braking. I have a 12 year old and he can barely push it hard enough to brake. He's gotta down shift 2-3 gears to have any chance of braking enough to make a reasonable turn lol I'm upgrading the brake to the true brake V2 mod. The gas is a tiny bit soft for my liking but it feels fine, clutch is also fine.
After 1 year use, g920 pedal totally lost sensitivity. I changed it with new one. But the same problem repeat after a while even with the new pedal. It is obvious that logitech pedal has a durability issue.
Right, so i watched your shifter video and yes i agree with majority of the points , However for an intro wheel or your very first this is honestly one of the best i have had mine 2/3 years now and no issues apart from wear and tear my throttle got stuck once but everything else is fine : ) defo worth the buy i hate how the shifter is seperate tho : ( Pedals are great with the rubber add on and are pretty reliable and am not the most gentle on them either
honestly the separate shifter isnt worth it though as it feels barely there and LOVES to misinput, Ive had it drop me to 2nd when shifting into 4th and such so often that its not really worth using it over just the paddles because something about it makes it unable to know what gear the shifter is physically in consistently
@@refraggedbean see I understand where u come from when there no feeling to it .. it sucks ass having a limp knob 😂 like I can use 1 finger to put it into gear and it’s just not a good feel , how ever if u get over this it’s decent and the 3d printed stiffer parts work a charm
i have 2 g29 setups. gona tell they feel just like my e36 bmw. Cant say nothing bad. After 3 years did clean them because there was dust on the potentiometers and was all good again
They are better than some more expensive pedals that come with some wheels. Moza R5 bundle comes to mind. With a mod or two the logitech pedals can be decent.
That's why the older G25 pedals were better than the new ones on the G27. The old ones didn't have the stopper and has consitant pressure. Still using those with my Thrustmaster TX and TH8A shifter.
I’ve pulled my pedals apart 3+ time to clean dust/carpet fluff any tip to stop this getting into my pedals? After a while if I don’t clean it the clutch and gas pedals become very glitchy
Thats your potentiometer acting up, you can replace it with 10k potentiometer but you'll need 3dprinted gears. Just google it up, I haven't done it myself, but I'm planning to if my pedal starts acting up again after I cleaned it up for the third time this year xD.
There's a lot to like about the Logitech pedals, especially for someone just getting into simracing. All the structural parts are metal and the design has been around for almost fifteen years now, during which time a lot of aftermarket and DIY mods have been developed, including load cell brakes. Their worst flaw in my eyes is that the potentiometers start to wear out and give spurious outputs after a few hundred hours of use. I've been spraying my accelerator pedal full of contact cleaner, but the problem is still getting worse. Logitech's support was no help. If only they would supply replacement pots, I'd have nothing to complain about.
@@jackson8753 Yeah the G29 pedals are top tier in comparison. Personally my Logitech set is my first and so far only experience with sim racing gear so idk anything better or worse. If only the wheel was quieter and the shifter didn't suck so hard...
The G27 has a much better feeling brake pedal than my Thrustmaste T300rs GT, you modulate the pedal better and much easier for trail braking as the T300rs gt has a long soft brake pedal The T300rs gt is much better steering wheel I use an adapter to plug the G27/29 pedals into my T300rs gt so I can use with my PS5
I've used these for many years. At first I didn't know what sim pedals should feel like so these did the job and I enjoyed the sims. Then I saw a video... what to change first.... and started looking at how limp these really were. Like I said I've used these for many years and know there must be a better solution.. not a quick fix. So.... I broke my budget and bought true load cell pedals and I am very happy I did. Quality load cell pedals offer much better feel and control. I'm not a competition simmer. I compete against myself and that's fine. But these add a level of realism I was looking for. Looking back... yea... these old pedals should have been replaced long ago. I have to save for everything I buy so budgeting is very challenging and takes time. I'm glad I got the wheel/pedal/shifter I have because it has given me many hours of fun. But it's time to look for ways to upgrade and get deeper in the immersion of the game.
@@janguitarw2023 Thanks for your question. First I have to be more specific on which ones I was using. They were the G25 pedals. As with the wheel, shifter and pedals they are built like a tank. I'm still using the wheel... it just won't quit. I bought these because it's what I could afford at the time.. a long time ago. Professional gear was way outta my league. I'm no pro simmer so getting the emersion is my goal. I put up with the pedals long enough and saw the plastic and foam "load cell" fixes. From what I could tell they really weren't worth the effort. I decided to get the Fanatec V3 pedals because of the solid construction and adjustability. They have performed perfectly and I don't regret spending the money. As the article sugested... pedals first and he was right. Only drawback is they need a platform to bolt to. They are heavy so account for that to. Hope this helps.
@@wm973 Thanks for your answer. I'm looking for used v3's and csl elite true load cell pedals. Right now I have the pedals from the g920. I have mounted the Pedals and the wheel to a solid stand but I use it with a normal chair. Do you think it is fine with the force I will need for true load cell pedals?
@@janguitarw2023 Wow... your quick:) Once anyone starts to upgrade their wheel, shifter and pedals I would highly suggest they buy a stand. I bought the GTOmega Apex and used it with a solid wood heavy chair with no wheels on carpet and it worked pretty good. With my old G25 pedals, I really couldn't put enough pressure on them to push my chair back but with the V3's it was apparent I needed a solid full rig. Lucky the Apex has an extension that bolts on and is pretty solid. I bought one of their seats to. I've noticed that at times I am exerting a lot of pressure on the pedals. More than I expected so I'm glad I have the whole rig. So to answer your question, yes, you will probably need to make a platform for your stand and chair so your not sliding all over. If your stand has an accessory to add a racing seat, that would be best and you will have a blast and be more comfortabe. Hope this helps..
g27 is basically the same, and i hate the pedals. because they use allen key screws, mine is stripped and my throttle pot is loose causing tons of throttle drag. gonna cut that plastic piece of crap cover off.
I'm considering buying the G920 wheel/pedal and want to build a racing cockpit for fun. Does anyone know the Length, Height and Width of the pedals please? Amazon mentions the wheel size but not the pedal size.
Everyone is saying that t300 rs is better. Im intrested if there is xbox alternative thrustmaster wheel to the t300. Tx costs 100$ more, and i think tmx isnt as good as t300. Help
TX is the equivalent of the T300, TMX is the Xbox version of the T150 and they're not as good as the TX or T300 weird that the TX is so much more expensive though since they pretty much have the exact same components and are both pretty old (unless you're looking at the TX leather edition or something, that one is more expensive cuz it has a more fancy leather wheel rim)
