Right, Addison and Hock out all game, Jefferson exiting in the 3rd quarter. But CMC was out so that is why the Vikes won. Edit: I’m surprised how many couldn’t detect the sarcasm in the post. I’m a Vikings fan pointing out how everyone will use CMC as a scapegoat when the Vikings had more significant injuries than the 49ers
@@ajgross67 stupid excuse the Vikings won because they played way better than the 49ers end of story they made more key plays a blocked punt a fumble recovery an INT a 97 yard TD they protected the QB better the list goes on the vikings played a better game injuries happen its football and CMC playes last year vs the vikings and they still loss just a sorry excuse
JJ got hurt late, Hockensen out, Addison out. Last drive was Sam throwing to guys that were special teamers last year. 9ers had CMC last year but no Deebo and Vikings had JJ out on IR. I guess the 9ers are the only ones that get the injury excuse.
A goalline fumble and a pick in the redzone or the Vikings win by 20. They were the better team. That final drive eating 6 minutes of clock and getting to a chip shot field goal to make a 2 score game with ZERO of their weapons (Addison, Hock, Jefferson, Jones) was clutch.
And their backup isn't some bum, Mason has had more production than almost any other back in the league so far. The niners were out-played and out-coached, simple as
Apparently the Vikings can win regardless of who is injured but the 49ers need every single one of their studs or they can’t win (it’s not an excuse when they win though)
Brock Purdy is not a system QB they said, he's MVP caliber they said, guess we'll see how he looks these next couple weeks, but it's looking like the 9ers let the wrong QB walk, lol
@@Zeffpenguin lowest avg separation in the league on our receivers but he's leading the league in yards thrown. dont be an idiot, we'll be in the playoffs and youll be watching them
@@CampinSteve Oh the team with some of the most offensive talent in the league will make the playoffs? Congrats, lol. Doesn't change the fact that Purdy is an average QB, carried by his team. The Niners don't get points for making the playoffs, they just get dinged if they don't which could happen, if they make the playoffs, they aren't going deep. Especially not with these injuries. It sucks that injuries might be why, but that's football.
@@Zeffpenguin As a Vikings fan, that take is horrendous. Sam is playing great, but Purdy played an insane game too. I was impressed by 3 9ers, Purdy, Deebo, and Warner.
Vikes should have gone up 27-7 if Jones wouldn't have fumbled on a first down run at the Niners 2 yard line. The game was never that close. If you need an onsides kick recovery at the end for a chance, you were outplayed.
We had a DB we drafted that we were going to be counting on die before the preseason even started, we had our 1st round pick QB go down with a season ending injury, another DB that we drafted that was going to be a starter go down with a season ender, Addison out, Hockenson out, Risner out, and Jettas went down at the end of the 3rd quarter... And you want to talk to me about CMC being out?
Surprisingly yes, another big thing is getting rid of Mattison at rb1 , his results were not there at all and I always thought Chandler had better vision.
Speaking of Speed... Jalen Nailor. While Jefferson was running his TD, Nailor comes blazing out of the top of the screen and delivers a block for Jefferson. Insane speed.
We're finally going to see the best of him this season. The Jefferson, Addison, TJ, Nailor/Oliver, Jones/Chandler line up is going to be extremely hard for anyone to match up against.
@@jacobsims8307 In all fairness the Ravens were playing peak football during that stretch and were the best team in the league. Any QB would have struggled against that Baltimore team.
perna coming with the McCaffrey wasn't in there. Well neither was Addison or Hockenson, and Jefferson missed the last quarter. It wasn't like the 9er's had no running game. That Mason kid ran the ball hard, and well. They've always got to try to find a reason why the Vikings won. It can't just be that they were better.
The Vikings keep being underrated. Even last year they were underrated. If it wasn’t for so many injuries and fumbles at the beginning of the season they would’ve finished much better
The vikings finish where they finish. Everyone claims they are better then the record and it's never true. Hot start means nothing, wait until darnold actually shows up.
@@InfiniteKhaosOk, if Darnold has 4 bad games this year oh well. If he repeats what he's done the first two weeks, he's going to have a career year both in W/L and in statistics.
@@DerrickRG Fair enough. We will see how it turns out. My bet is jj will start by week 8 and they think they still have a chance. Then it all fall apart like every other year.
I picked Vikings to finish 2nd behind Lions in NFC North. They had a good draft, and picked up some amazing defensive players in the offseason. They aren't a secret anymore.
Apparently they are seeing that everyone and their mother chose them to finish last in the NFCN, even behind the Bears with an unforgivably bad offensive line protecting a rookie QB
I'm not sure the Lions even finish 2nd. Third and missing the playoffs to the Bucs on the tiebreak? I could see them losing to the Cards in Arizona this week and going down another tiebreak - with the Bills and 49ers still to play!
@@robe2504 good point, the NFL ebbs and flows so much from week to week it's crazy. I guess it comes down to injuries and if your team is peaking the last couple of weeks. Such a long season.
The 9ers haven't beaten the viking in Minnesota since 1992. In 94, when they won the sb, they lost to the vikings. Last year, the only ncf team to beat the 9ers was the vikings. Something about the vikings at home, just isn't good for the 49ers.
The Vikings were short Hockenson, Addison and Risner. This game wouldn't have even been close if Jones doesn't fumble on the 1. They won in all phases of the game.
Yea, when they drove down the field, ran down the clock and got a chip shot FG to go up 2 scores they were running 5 wide sets with ZERO starters on the field as eligible receivers. Sam "the Bust" Darnald daggered the 9ers throwing to a team of literal backups.
Jefferson was out most of the second half, Addison was out, Hockenson was out. I don't believe in them yet, there's still some positions that are in dire need of long term fixes, not including QB. Like both guard spots, cb, and at least 2 defensive line men, and probably center. Before I think they can really be considered a contender, or even a legit top ten team. That likely will not happen this upcoming offseaon, with hardly any draft picks.... All that to say, this season is gonna be fun because there's literally 0 expectation from most of the fan base, and I assume ownership.
Not a dire need. CB maybe, Khyree was a tragic loss in every way, and Blackmon is up on blocks, but the current roster is still a significant upgrade on last season, and the IDL is deep and solid this season. Some Vikes fans have a distorted view of reality re the guards. You'll probably see how good the O and D Lines are this week when I think they'll dominate the Texans on bot sides of the ball.
Yes, everyone outside the Vikes missed that Greenard, AVG, Jihad and Turner were a massive upgrade over Hunter and Wonnum. Even Pat Jones has turned the corner. Same at IDL with Tillery, Jonah, Taimani, and LDR upgrading Lowry and Tonga, and the rotation is making Phillips better. Gilmore and Griffin might not be who they once were, but they are two wily old players that know how to get leverage, narrow passing windows, play the right coverage, and not give up penalties while Flores grooms some younger faster longer guys.
Was it really an upset? Really? They beat them last year....what makes you say they wouldn't beat them again this year? The Vikings have purdys number. That's a fact.
Thank you Tom. Only thing that made me question KOC is not playing Ty-C last year over Mattison. I said it from the jump. Really don’t understand that.
@@jakearsenta2144 You seriously believe Darnold can win you guys a Super Bowl? It's a miracle that KOC has him playing well, but miracles don't last. If JJ is half as good as I think he can be, the Vikings will be in good hands.
Me too. If Purdy can get there, Sam can. Sam completely outplayed Purdy. KOC just puts Sam in a position to succeed. Sam can make all the throws, and move like Kirk never could. Half the starting offence is still out, and the D is already shaping like a top 5-10 unit and with 7-8 new faces, should only get better with more time on task together.
Please KOC Kwesi don’t let Brian Flores go anywhere for the the next 5 years, I have never been so excited watching the vikes play defense it was amazing thing if beauty
The reason the Vikings are doing well is because they aren't paying the QB $50m. If Darnold has a good QBR and some MVP votes, they will let him go, because the team will suck if they pay him $50m. In summary, $10m Darnold equals a very good QB. $50m Darnold equals Daniel Jones.
A perfect summary. Try explaining that concept to half of the Vikings fan base that still thinks we should have extended Cousins, even if it ment out spending ATL. Might as well bang your head against the wall.
Hard to take a podcast seriously when they talk about the 9ers being down 1 big playmaker when the vikings were down 2. Then they mention kittle and bosa who both returned and played almost the entire game but jj leaving early in the 3rd and done for the day isnt mentioned. Sorry too biased.
So tired of hearing: "but McCaffrey was out".🤦♂️ Yeah, so was Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson, and Jefferson left in the 3rd quarter. Plus, Mason rushed for a 100yds. Just stop with the excuses. The Vikings should've blown the 49ers out!
Vikings need to sign Kevin O'Connell to a lifetime contract. That man is able to get the very best out of everyone, and every player on the team LOVES to play for him. He's a "make you wanna run through a wall" type of coach.
CMC had 45 yards on 15 carries (50 receiving yards) in this match up last season, less total yards than Jordan Mason had in this game. Addison missed this game, but had 123 yards last season when Jettas & Deebo were out. Hockenson, also out this week, had 86 yards against the 49ers last season. Say whatever you like, but KOC and Darnold led that game clinching drive with Nailor, Powell Sherfield, Mundt and Chandler - their entire starting offence out. Let's see Purdy do that versus anyone with Juaun Jennings, Jacob Cowing, Ronnie Bell, Eric Saubert and Isaac Guerendo!
Should have been a 20 point blowout, and don’t forget how injured the Vikings are. Just a few weeks ago you’re talking about how bad you felt for them that they’re gonna get the first pick and no sudden that they won you’re talking about the CMC injury like the Vikings aren’t on their third stringers.
Yes. What makes everyone think the Vikings weren't going to be good this year? They significantly improved the roster this summer and in the second year of Bflo's defense. But everyone sees the name "Sam Darnold" and instantly think they're going to be bad.
@@iamdebirdie I don't know what you said. What I know is the vikings fans claim to be the best every year and it never happens. They look good so far, I'll give them that. But mark my words they will fall apart again. That's just who they are.
@@iamdebirdie as a matter of fact I am on record somewhere here on RU-vid saying that case keenum was going to be the guy they needed. He almost brought them to a Superbowl and then was replaced by cousins lol. Keenum wasn't the problem. Anyone with half a brain cell could see that. Delusional viking fans. Lions are a better bet and we know how that goes.
@@InfiniteKhaos wow, terrible typo on my part. My bad. I meant to say when was the last time they had as big of an off-season as this one? And I would definitely beg to differ. Maybe you hear the vocal minority but for the past 4 or 5 years none of us have had much hope for the season with Kirk at QB. He had a ceiling. With him out of the building and the ability to spend all that money elsewhere, of course the rest of the roster improved. Namely on defense. I'll never sit here and tell you they're the best but to say they're one of the worst in the league, as many many people were saying, I think is just ignoring the reality of the situation they are in
No hock, no Addison, JJ (even though having a great statistical game) got hurt, Jones got hurt. The last quarter and half of the third was no names and backups. Can’t blame losing CMC on that.
Justin Jefferson left game in second half with injury. Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson did not play. Looking forward to seeing all the weapons on the field at the same time.
Last year the vikings were down Jefferson and Darrisaw, but the 49ers lost because Deebo and T Williams were out. This year the Vikings are down Hockinson and Addison, but the 49ers lost because CMC was out (even though his backup put up 100yds). The 49ers get too many excuses, we get it. They're probably a better team to do real damage in the playoffs, but give the Vikings some actual credit guys. They dominated BOTH matchups.
@@thorfinsky1427 but the whole plan is to pay NOTHING to the QB and build a strong team to win with the rookie contract. If you resign Darnold it literally goes against EVERYTHING the team has done for the last two years
@@comeintotheforest Kwesi's primary mantras are value and flexibility, completely opposite to the one box you are imposing on him. If Kirk and Hunter had accepted the deal he offered they'd probably still be there, but they went the Thielen path, not the Harrison Smith path. If Darnold takes the Vikes to the division and into the playoffs I doubt they'll let him walk. He would be too much of an asset (i.e. value) and would create flexibility for KOC about when and how to introduce a 21 year old rookie QB. At worst they tag and trade Darnold before the deadline in 2025. They might even sign JJ up for the Packers 3 year QB apprenticeship.
@@robe2504 you’re writing big paragraphs so it looks more accurate, but it’s just dead wrong of a take. There is literally no chance they extend Darnold to be the starter, because it goes against every part of the roster construction philosophy shown so far. Sorry man, it must be hard to be so confident and so wrong.
@@comeintotheforest Really? Didn't Kwesi extend Kirk for a year until it made sense to move on? Didn't Kwesi extend Harrison Smith at the teams price? Have you not heard Kwesi talk about succession planning? The core principle of that is not handing over the keys until the successor is ready, which is hard when JJ is untried and up on blocks for the season. Have you considered KOCs post game presser when he got choked up about Sam's success because so many folks have said he can't play? I think you're over confident in your opinion, and perhaps you shouldn't discount the possibility. It is definitely well above zero.
Dont bother mentioning our injuries... maybe yall actually forgot about TJ & JA lmao. I actually like it this way, love being the underdogs, proving everyone wrong.
Looking at their roster, I figured the Vikes could compete for the division or a wild card so long as Darnold didn't suck. And considering his coaching staff snd support cast in NY and Carolina was garbage, ppl should've seen it's possible Darnold is serviceable on the vikings roster. Best case scenario I see them winning a wild card playoff game if they can get a 5 seed.
Vikings didn’t have Addison, Hockenson, and JJ went down in the third quarter, but I guess the only Injury that had an impact was CMC. According to everyone else but Vikings fans, the Vikings don’t win, the other team just loses for some reason. No one ever gives credit to the Vikings.
that narrative won't go away. If they win, it's because the other team didn't play well otherwise they have to admit the Vikings are good which they don't want to do. Sam Darnold also has a narrative that people can't give up. No matter how many games he looks good they will always say...Just wait he will start seeing ghosts, etc. Throws an interception and they start saying...See, what did I tell you? But Mahomes throws one and crickets. The Vikings beat them last year when they had CMC in.
What??? Half our DB room is out for multiple reasons. Hockenson out, Addison out, JJ went out halfway, Aaron Jones got hurt & went out. The 49ers were a far more healthy team. If it wasn't for Fred Warner alone creating 2 turbovers in the red zone taking away at the very least 10 points.... This thing is a blowout like the Giants game. Im happy it wasn't though because Sam Darnold led a 6 minute drive with Jaylon Nailor, Brandon Powell,Trishton Jackson, Johnny Mundt & Ty Chandler. Get your stuff outta my ass at once boys.
