You know when they do before and after photos for supplements they do tricks like change posture, lighting, (for men) they'll shave their chest and both photos are done in the same day. That's kind of how these glow up photos are. before is bad angle, bad lighting, no makeup and the after is good lighting, good makeup, better angle and face filter. Most of these could be taken 20 minutes apart and you'd never know.
Wearing makeup is fine to show the glow up because you actually need to study and learn how to do your makeup that fit your face. That's part of the glow up - knowing how to put on makeup, the best hair cut for the face, the best colour to use as makeup and colour for clothing (they are very different thing) etc. Understanding colour theory and kibbe body type etc is essential for a true glow up.
Looking « better » because of make up or filters doesnt mean you had a glow up, because you don’t actually look like that. Glow up means losing weight, gaining musles, better hair style/ facial hair, better skin, hygiene etc.
Why is a glow up defined by losing weight, gaining muscles, better skin ect. as you state!!??? What if I'm a naturally skinny person or a chubby, corpulent person, who feels perfectly healthy and content, why would I aspire to lose weight and gain muscles?! And what if I have a chronic skin condition which does not allow me to have so called "good/clear skin" at all or as easily as others? Does having muscles, "porcelain" skin and a skinny/slim body automatically make me more worthy and beautiful!? The whole concept and idea of us needing to "glow up" in the first place is messed up, and quite frankly if anything needs to "glow up" it is one's mindset, level of compassion, respect and open-mindedness more than anything else...
The biggest "glow up" is getting healthy, healing yourself, becoming happier, becoming more of yourself... It's a holistic process that's about both your mind and body. Not just about which mascara you use, etc. You'll always look amazing if you have a good daily routine, get enough sleep, eat well, exercise, and of course dress well, do your skincare, etc. Don't worry too much about the details, just try to establish an overall healthy, meaningful lifestyle that works for you, and a "glow up" will be a welcome byproduct of it.
The thing is about the modern 'glow up' is that they end up going for the same eyebrows, makeup style, hair, clothing and filters so end up looking like a parody of each other. My personal concept of a glow up is skincare, good posture and understanding what works for your features. The thing is women don't want to put in the time and effort to understand their face shape, features, body type, colouration etc. so they go down the easy route and opt for the cookie cutter 'ig baddie' look that is already proven to be attractive. It's ironic because it's still not sinking in that unique, natural beauty trumps all of that. I don't wear false eyelashes, have straight brows, hooded eyes and even though my upper lip is flat, it's shaped like a heart so I don't try to overline them because this is a unique feature. This makes my face memorable and people perceive me as strikingly beautiful and automatically assume I'm a model. The time taken to understand your features truly do payoff. It must be odd for those who wear a ton of makeup and look nothing like themselves without it receive compliments knowing deep down it's all smoke and mirrors.
exactly!! it causes so much body dysmorphia as well because youre not yourself and this is why people keep convincing themselves they look good because theyre following what the trends are lol..so clueless and in denial!!
@@frothingbubbles Exactly, agreed. It's like the blind leading the blind, there's no rationale behind it. Glowing, smooth skin is a major indicator of health and beauty and women spend a lot of money on skin care to achieve that "glow" only to wear heavy makeup and then mattify it with powder to obliterate any shine whatsoever. Lmao, makes zero sense, trend followers are clueless sheep.
My eyebrows became thicker and darker, eyes developed a double eyelid, lashes grew longer. Face leaned out and teeth straightened a little(they were a little crooked). I think when your features change dramatically by themselves it is a real glow up.
@@gainigaini1366 how old were you when your eyes were monolids and how old were you when they were double eyelids? I've heard eye lids can also change with age
@@gainigaini1366 same. When I was younger I had monolids as I grew older around pre-teen I had demi monolids and now I'm in my 20s and it's huge double eyelids. My face especially my eyes are the first to change as I grow older.
+ start getting a better haircuts/styling their hair, often loose body fat or gain muscle, introduce a skin care routine, start dressing far better etc etc
@FuckOuttaHere mewing doesn’t change the shape of your nostrils or how flared they are, neither does it make your lips bigger. Mewing changed your bone structure if done early enough
I don't trust ONLINE GLOW UPS. I've met so many people that look good on insta and look like a totally different individual (uglier) in person. On insta they all look taller, slimmer, sharper, with clearer skin etc. Also in real life you can't "cheat with angles". I've also met a bunch of people WHO LOOK BETTER IN PERSON.
@@soulofsomething6651 depends. if it's by getting plastic surgery and buying shit loads of make up like some of these girls are doing it's just a major turn off since we can smell their insecurity.
@@soulofsomething6651 I'm fully aware improving your appearance is good and people will treat you better as a result. My original comment doesn't indicate otherwise.
i'm literally just watching these videos to study human behavior, how it reacts to beauty, recurring ''beautiful'' features and simp over the voice over.
When you discuss facial contrast at around 2:55, it seems like you're talking about the contrast in her face created by the makeup but the study you cite uses "contrast" in the context of a group to compare various faces; not the contrast in a singular face.
Yes, honestly I take a thousand pics and pick the most acceptable one to keep or use. It's the same for everyone else. Lots to do with angles, lighting, and best filters. Some days are better than others. And certain people just have the best genes nothing to fuss about here. In general just about everyone has some parts that they are particularly proud of and others that they wish to downplay.
Omg, the thumbnail! I just saw a video whit Jordyn and was impressed with her improvement. She resembles Lori Harvey now. Wondering what she did cuz still looks natural
The paper on Acne and social barrier relationships... God I think my acne is the first thing people see when they talk to me. Ive been very restrictive with meeting people cause no matter what people Say "thats only skin" ïts not that bad" well guess what it really that demeaning to have it. Having Adult acne is the worst, when i was younger i always believed in what they said it will be gone soon thats just puberty. Here I am still dealing 12 years after. Going on accutane soon
@@arreza253 Good luck with your accutane journey! It will be hard but it will be worth it. Best wishes for you, and when you feel it just gets worse or doesn't get better fast enough, just trust the process and make sure to communicate with your dermatologist/doctor. I also struggled with acne from puberty all the way to early 20s. I almost have to take it, but was fortunate that topical tretinoin worked for me! After the initial purging, it was still a 6 months journey until the acne clears to just a few every month, and another 6 months until I didn't get any anymore and the redness was gone. I'm still happy touching my clear face till this day!
Thank you for making theese kinds of videos! i use alot of my time thinking of ways to glow up, like every action i take i more or less always think if it will benefit me or not, i have been told i look better now than before, and before i was bullied for my looks and men thought i was the ugly friend.. so youre advice has helped me alot, thank you❤ i also hope you could make more glow up episodes on youre podcast! i really miss it😊
Hi there. The last woman wasn’t using a filter. I know her, and she hasn't done any facial surgeries. That is how she looks, but she is really skilled at makeup. She is not a catfish; she just knows how to highlight her features.
@@princessbuttercup482 You can literally not see her skin pores on image 2, it's literally a filter LMAO stop contributing to unrealistic beauty standards.
Can you make a video on how pretty privilege works in different areas of life ranging from monetory benefits to social benefits. (Idk if u have made a video like this so i thought id comment)
im a 19 y/o woman and ive noticed that my cheeks sometimes flaxuate between chubby or nonexistant, still underweight overall so im skinny but im dumbfounded at the why my cheeks specifically gain fat, is there any advice to reduce it somehow?
You're skinny not lean or you just naturally hold tons of face fat. If it's the latter that's no reducing that, unless you become anorexic, get surgery, or weight for the fat to burn with age
It's most likely water weight. Our bodies retain water and our faces bloat depending on how hydrated/dehydrated we are, our sodium intake, whether we've eaten tons of carbs, or even drank alcohol.
i know bmi isn’t a good way to measure health, but as someone with little muscle mass what bmi would be the most attractive? fat loss is usually mentioned in these videos
"Glow-ups" are overhyped. So an already compact-midfaced person grew up, or started caring slightly about their looks, or someone particularly unattractive either became average or had procedures done to achieve a compact midface. That's all great and inspiring, but not all that impressive.
I’m 20 years old and I can’t seem to understand why I look 15. I feel like I’ve tried everything to glo up, I wear minimal makeup that suits my face , I have my natural hair Color, I work out and take care of my skin and I just feel like Im not glowing up even though I’ve been trying for the past five years.
I'm confused about the glasses. Are they a positive or a negative? In an older video Qoves said they were a positive, but in this one they say they are a negative... Which one is it?
@@valerietuckler8571 I guess so, I remember a while ago I was researching how to choose the best glasses depending on facial features etc , and I come across some examples of conventionally attractive people who still look good with types of glasses that theoretically weren't supposed to flatter their faces.
Agreed, that's the reason women look unreal and people say women look better than men when they are covered in makeup 24×7 remove that and they look worse
The orbital bones determine how low set / highset your eyebrows are no amount of monioxidril will get it lower only fuller which will be get your eyes more attractive anyways
Would be good if you guys could do videos on face shape and hair with actual examples of how different hair styles look on the same face shapes through image editing. Your videos are too abstract and theoretical and sparse on actual practicality and applicability.
How is the blond boy in the black tshirt considered ugly? I think he was cute! Definitely cuter than a lot of teenage guys. Maybe the girls just wanted to kiss him and needed an excuse hahaha
Don’t worry dude the only things that can really make a difference to how you look is getting longer better haircut clear skin getting leaner and surgery eyebrow threading and tint the rest is practically garbage and makes no real difference
Hey, you are wrong. Before you put out a video , you should do more research on how they glow up. Don't because you want to earn some bucks then you put out something that is not true. I know one of the persons you showed in this video and I know she lost weight naturally which took her years. So you don't come here and put up a video that is not true and thereby making her years of hard work and being consistent as nothing. It took her years to get here and you should not do this. So get your facts right before putting out false analysis for your own gain.
