Started on a Flex, then gave it to my Daughter and purchased a Black Carve. Carve was the perfect upgrade and Daughter is lovin the Flex (on 105 clouds) My carve is on the new 150AT air filled and definitely my favorite set up. Smooth, comfortable, goes over anything, and 30+ mph!! Luv my Dk trucks and Luvin my Black Carve (500miles no issues)

Really interristing vidéo, thank you for it ! I have to say that the great advantage of these DKP trucks is that i can feel the sharp turn of a snowboard in snow or, the feeling i have when i go for a wakeboarding session... And if i want a better control over 50km/h, i tight more the kingpin of the "board side" ("road side" can be loosen more) specially the rear truck. It stabilizes a lot the board and it gives you the feeling of standard trucks.
@sageoz9886
@sageoz9886 3 года назад
I've bought a couple Boundmotor direct drive sets for diy projects and they came with the same style front and rear trucks. I know this sounds crazy, but I took the extra kingpins from the rears out (they work fine as standard trucks) and I added them to the front trucks to make triple kingpin fronts. I also replaced all the bushings so that they are progressively stiffer as they get closer to the deck. I then added the rear riser set ups from a Waterborne Surf adapter set (with stiff and fatty bushings) to still allow board lean. Now the rear isn't over-turning in so sharply, while the front turns super smooth and progressive.

Double king pin trucks give longboards the ability to turn much sharper than they would be able to otherwise. I have a bamboo deck evolve & I do agree it’s less stable at higher speeds, but you adjust your riding & set up to suit. (I ride the OneWheel Pint every day also & that takes unstable to another level, which in turn makes my longboard seem stable....lol)

I just got the new Boundmotor direct drive setup, and I absolutely love the DKP trucks. They're a bit scary at high speeds, but tightened down a little they feel stable and I can still steer even better than with reverse kingpin. It also feels so much more stable. Even with 6" pneumatic tires it feels more stable than my old trucks on 90mm wheels because the trucks are so much wider.

Hey man... i also ordered their DKP trucks. Do you think i'll have to switch bushings for high speeds? I kinda chose them for the black-gold look tbh lol. I would hate to switch them for colorful ones. Do you tighten both rear bushings?

I recently got the Lycaon TRX and it has double kingpin trucks and amazingly, they are the most stable AT board I ever ridden at high speed so yes, I love the double kingpin trucks. Are they best for beginners? No. Not until they are used to their regular kingpins on street board. :) Happy New Year, Ronnie!

Good to hear. Just ordered the TRX 3.0 and I'm heavy. 120kg (260ish lbs). Ordered the super hard riptide double kingpin bushing upgrade kit too because I like to go fast and I'm heavy. Hopefully no speed wobbles at max speed with this setup I have planned. I've heard these riptide bushings can totally transform how a board rides. Those are the bushings that bioboards use and they are the most expensive and best boards on the market in my opinion.

I've got the onsra and I feel comfortable riding between 25 and 30 miles per hour. It is my first DKP truck board and is set up a bit stiffer than it comes from the factory, but still looser than an RKP Set up. My first Eskate was the The NLS and comparing the two is not possible in my opinion. There was a learning curve. but eventually I was able to ride DKP trucks like a regular longboard. TLDR I love my DKP trucks

*I also prefer RKP trucks* and agree it's all about personal preferences. Different people have different styles which suit one type more than the other. I really love the bouncy return to centre I can get from RKP and DKP just ends up feelin a bit boaty, sluggish to a certain extent. But that is entirely down to my style of riding. It would be good to have both, just as it's good to have a shortboard as well as longboard. Variety, the spice of life 😂👌🏼👌🏼

Apples and oranges. DKP trucks (at least the ones widely available, ie Evolve style) are not designed for speed and stability, they’re for sharp turns. You can adjust them for high speed stability but RKP trucks are better for that. Each have their pros and cons but I always see people tighten their DKP trucks to the point where bushings are deformed to behave more like RKP trucks. I rarely see people loosen their RKP trucks to be as loose as possible or swap out their barrel bushings for cones. People make their eboards as stable as possible and then when they get on a board with DKP trucks they’re like oh wow it turns so well. Well duh.

I was worried about DKP after watching your videos and @dkwan's. I must be crazy but I don't really feel the lack of stability or speed wobbles at higher speeds. I do definitely feel the higher turning radius when carving though, especially with soft bushings. I apply about 80-90% of my weight on my front foot and I am able to go 40km/h or 25 mph without issues. Without proper weight distribution I used to wobble all the time though and it was scary.

I prefer DKP purely because I’m a skier so it’s all about the carve but also because I ride mostly in a city and it’s not legal to ride on the roads so DKP trucks are much better for navigating the sidewalks. But then I never hammer the throttle in a straight line though

From a snowboarder point of vie DKP are easier than single Kingpin, seriously. Use the snowboard stance not the skate stance and tighten a bit your trucks they seem too loose for your height/weight in the video. Bend your knees and place your shoulders parallel to the feet, you are completely front facing with the torso which is not ideal while you learn. If you like carving you will never go back to single setup.
@rosnow
@rosnow 3 года назад
As a new rider, I think AT wheels are easier to ride and better for learning to ride. They make it smoother and small defects in the road a non-issue. AT wheels seem to require double king pin trucks, if so, that seems like a fine tradeoff and if you start with them I don't see a problem. (I'm also not a fan of going too fast, especially for new riders.)

I feel that reverse kingpin trucks feel just about as surfy/carvy by making the rear truck as loose as possible, the front truck a little tighter, then equalize your foot pressure. You still have high speed stability when you need it by weighting your front foot. It's not for everyone, but it's a compromise that I think gives me the best of both worlds.

Double Kingpins suck. Being able to lean all your weight into a carve and feel the centrifugal force against your feet is what makes carving fun.
