I also forgot to mention.... michaels hair (him gelling it down every day vs him letting it go curly and “free” as tori says) correlates with his openness to tori in their relationship, how he stops trying to be someone he is not for tori to like him, and the way their friendship starts to become organic and genuine instead of them just being around each other .... just saying. have a good day.

As a fellow autistic person, I actually related a lot harder with Tori. Particularly the holding her head in her hands because “this is just a very comfortable sitting position” (Chapter 22) and “I guess I’ll just go with ‘straight’ until proven otherwise.” (chapter 5). Though the second one is probably more to do with being aroace.

Hi! I am also Autistic and I knew from my first read that Tori and Michael were as well. I wanted to thank you from the very very bottom of my heart. Tears streamed from my face when I saw the title of this video. I cried through it and I sobbed during the Michael part. You see I discovered Solitaire through the Heartstopper craze going on now. I can't like something and not obsess over everything about it. Though reading Solitaire and rereading Solitaire stoped my obsession with Heartstopper and started an obsession with Solitaire. I have scoured the internet in all the places to find merch, quotes, memes, videos, tik toks, what have you and have been completely and utterly disappointed. None of my friends have read Solitaire and it physically hurts to not be able to talk about it with anyone. However, I have digressed from why I'm writing this comment though. I read a lot, I mean a lot. I love books and the characters become alive for me. However, I have never in my entire life found a character that I related to so completely like Micheal Holden. I mean I relate to Tori, yes, but Micheal Holden's struggle, attitude, and behavior had a mirror effect on me. I read the lines in the book and I felt like someone was writing about me. Down to fine details like the inability to make friends when I try so hard. I do what Micheal does! I choose a person to be my friend and I all BUT stalk them (I am not a stalker I don't go that far). But its almost a new special interest to make that person my friend and usually it doesn't end well. I was also the Freak of my highschool who despite my best efforts to be "normal" was always outcast with no real friends. This isn't the only example, I could talk about how much I love ice skating, but this comment is getting long. Thank you thank you thank you for this video, it made my day. I wish more people would talk about Micheal Holden, so thank you for making this video (P.s. all because of this video, I've liked, subscribed, and will be watching all of your videos! )

First video I’ve seen of your channel and omg thank you for making this!! When I first read Solitaire, I very heavily related to Michael and recently I’ve found out that I’m possibly autistic. And I kid you not, all the reasons I relate to Michael are reasons why he could be read as autistic😅 Tori also being autistic wasn’t something I’d originally considered but it was super interesting to hear your points on it!

This is such an amazing video! Hearing your thoughts on this was super interesting and they gave me another insight of the book. I definitely got neurodivergent vibes with both Tori and Michael, but I was not sure on what (I initially thought of ADHD in Tori's case, as it tends to be confused and/or pair with depression in women). Some of the scenes I'd like to add are the ones in which Tori realises she was not really aware of her surroundings, like the pizza place scene where she didn't realise there was music playing until Becky asked her about it; or when Michael did a The Beatles' reference and she only got it minutes later. I don't know if it is an autistic thing (I'm not autistic) but I loved those parts because I really relate to them; I thought it only happened to me haha.

For some reason, the video quality is Absolute Shit which honestly makes me really angry because when I uploaded it for the first time without edits it was fine. The universe just hates me and sprolden.
