Triploids messed up my grow, lost a tent due to herm from donuts and a over stretch from og even while tying it down, it still over grew the Humboldt dream which basically killed one side of the dream. They did not test these in tents! they herm due to fast light cycle switch, I am now waiting 2 months for auto's just to have anything. Thanks' to this misadventure of triploids. Not to mention the waste of money this was on price of seeds to be an experiment for a marketing money grab by Humboldt!
We worked with these plants for 5 months in a professional setting , what a disappointment…we had 100% herm rate on all 5 plants we ran… plants were so unstable we decided not to even run the initial cuts we took. So much for being sterile. What was even more disappointing was HSC complete disregard for our concerns and questions. After seeing numerous pollen sacks we tried to contact HSC pertaining to some specific genetic questions, after 2 unreturned voicemails we tried to reach out via email…. 5 weeks later and nothing…what a joke…. 4 attempts to even get a human on the phone and we are still waiting..with so many options these days for beans, you would think the would care a little more about there customers…
Shout out to glchris for being the one guy that's actually just saying what happened is not okay.. and not trying to come up with excuses for what happened. You a real one chris
@@WatchCLtvthere was a bit of hesitation at the start of this to call it out for what it was…at least that was the sense i got from those involved. not that its such a bad thing, it would be weird to be super reactionary to everything. then joe was a little “protective” of humboldt well say, but after that stream everyone seemed to be on the same page about it. just how it seemed to me from the outside.
Im glad that i didnt get the triploid ls when i was going to, i went to the site 2 or 3 times and it was sold out. So i spent my money getting the Westport Posse when it dropped, and it came with a tee shirt and 16 Westport posse beans and 12 100% sativa beans and the no joke testers for $45 total.
10$ a bean is already too high especially when breeders aren’t selling packs of 1-3 . Not many of us got 100-150$ for some beans. Shot out to breeders like Cartier Crops who got the fire at reasonable prices .
The price isn't the problem you can have a lifetime of weed from 1 seed. Just like good pot isn't too expensive. There's plenty of cheap weed out there and then there's weed where you pay for quality and rarity.
@@Multi4204life price is absolutely a problem. Also not everyone has the room for mothers and or vegging clones. Nor wants to keep growing the same strain.
@timpage5021 No, the price isn't a problem. When you make cheap weed and cheap seeds, all you are doing is kicking the little guy out of the business market. The market was perfect between 2004 and 2014. Price reflects quality and rarity. You're literally advocating that only the rich corporations can grow for distribution and you can get way better more rare things from the homegrown market.
@@Multi4204life you must be smoking moldy mids kid. You’re saying im advocating for the rich when you’re the one saying prices are great and im saying the opposite. lol Time for you to go to bed and put the dabs down bub.
@@Multi4204life yeah i dunno, i dont miss the $400 ounces of what we would call average dank by todays standards that you can have for $250 at most but commonly $200 or even under. he is right, not everyone has space for moms and you are basically advocating for the ultra mega seed distributors the same way you claim he is advocating for the corporate. you are WAY off base. stay in your lane, homegrower.
the most remarkable quote I remember from one of those guys promoting triploids: "they may produce little seeds but they are 100% sterile like the pollen so you are perfectly safe from unwanted pollination and accidental crosses blabla". It's like "What do you think about microseeds in your companies bud?" "Yes!"
U always stay on some stuff i ain't never even heard of. I wish i had the beans u get. So far only messed with seedsman brand🤷 hook a brotha up sometime
Love this conversation because you can tell it's three authentic growers who just want the home-growers to be treated as fairly as possible. Cheers boys. 💚✊
a true triploid would be a plant producing 3 leaf set at each node instead of the normal two (diploid) - ive seen it once before and its quite unique but =/ 1/3 more growth in each stage/faster but maybe a 15% to 20% improvement vs the diploid of the same pheno if you hit a true triploid. idk what humboldt on
We got a lot of seeds from Humboldt and they are for outdoor and some light depth , a tier 3 farm from WA and I’m particularly taking a look at 15 Donuts Triploids and looking forward to Croptober now ✍🏼
I got a 3 pak only popped 1, she is week 7 in flower. No herm issues just some funky terps. I will wait till after the smoke test to give my full opinion.
Your original seeds are diploid. When you treat them with something like Colchicine (which is a gout medication) it causes those seeds to turn into a tetraploid plant. With that tetraploid plant you will cross them with another diploid plant to create triploid seeds from the diploid mother. I'm not an expert on all of this but from my understanding that's basically the process. The idea behind it is great but seeing that they are having trouble with it, it's almost better to just grow good genetics that won't herm on you.
Hey Stash Team! Would love the schedule 3 episode. I am a small family farmer in Kansas and to really break down the possibilities of schedule 3 could help in illegal states and small families!! Ive grown .5 of an acre of CBD before but is not marketable to a small community. Would love to hear what you find
Hey guys, I was on RU-vid looking for videos on Rust spots on the leaves and there are hardly any videos about it. Can you guys do a video on how to prevent rust spots and how to cure it
Regardless of what the future holds for triploids, they've left a sour taste in my mouth. I'd probably buy from Humboldt again, despite feeling like I've been scammed. But I'll never buy triploids and I'll likely never watch Basement Grow Show again. Shame too, Joe was once my favorite creator in the space... Fucking weasel...
I'm pissed I wasted money on these seeds. Every fem seed I have gotten from them including the Triploid, have had nanners on them. They just lost a customer from me.
Hey Rob I definitely see more and more facilities running Auto flowers for the commercial side if u think about it one light schedule and u just keep the seeds popping
I'm curious about other triploids, and is there just an issue with the Donuts or do they all herm? I know Humboldt Seeds had/has another strain and at least one more seed company has another strain. But I'd be worried about trying them with the Donuts fiasco. Hopefully someone will try and let us know how it goes. Good show guys.
Humboldt messaged me , well two snakes did and told me that they could possibly pollinate non triploids but won’t pollinate triploids . I got confused by that response but their customer service was very helpful and answered all of my questions pretty quickly. They gave me store credit for the donutz triploids that I bought from seedsman .
Breeder Steve has lots of interviews were he talks about breeding triploids without colchicine, interesting stuff. Been working on it for years now, hopefully he releases more seeds soon, some Spice of Life beans would be epic.
Oregoncbd and breedersteve.. 100% way before nat, and i love nats work, lately, especially in the mitten state.. ps, michigan outbeat cali sales now proven in mjbizdaily
It should be great for the commercial grower it was designed to be less likely to get pollinated when male pollen is present and to help prevent major loss on a commercial scale . The good indoor (trip) cultivars will come in time .
Im gonna be running a commercial facility in NY, and we're def running autos (on the back burner) that will all be going str8 to the extraction lab. Rosin prices are insane here, wholesaling at $40/g and being resold in all these "sticker shops" at $70-$90/G. The autos will be running were bred by me, and have been hitting 5+ft in raised beds outdoors. The quality is there and no one knows there autos until they come back for more. 1💚
1950 banana extension look it up The big mike banana is big seeded banana your talking about it went the way of the dodo bird meaning they are still around just not in large numbers It was a root fungus that nearly wiped out the big mike if i remember correctly
Can’t wait til yall get onto native sun and show it off shits far better then what a lot of breeders are putting out in house native sun my 2 favs as of now I fw the candy man’s seeds to
I think triploids will benefit the hemp industry, because hemp fields grown for cannabinoids, will start to degrade the plants cannabinoid (and maybe terpene) profile after the plant is pollinated. I think triploids prevent this degradation.
I ran one donutz triploid as an experiment and took two clones from it . I slowly changed the day / night cycle and I m in week three and no male flowers yet but I’ve noticed that they usually show up later . But I’m going to see if they will pollinate themselves and a non triploid plant if it herms
My 2 cents on donuts triploid is its new and not fully known but has great potential. Soon as I herd bro say on live it might be a age thing I pushed my DT back in my perpetual and let it veg for 3month+ just got it dried about to test tonight but it's looks an smells amazing! 55day flower very close to description. no herm with the most impressive trikes I have ever seen in my digital microscope! can't wait to see return on rosin 15-28% is my usual range and I'm hoping we have a new record holder!!! I'll reply with a return percentage later fingers crossed!!!
I believe that triploidy means you have an extra SET of chromosomes, not just an extra chromosome. People have 46 chromosomes or 23 PAIRS of chromosomes. A person with triploidy would have THREE sets of chromosomes (69 chromosomes) instead of the normal two sets.
I have a triploid, I have to send a clone back to get tested to make sure it's not a tetraploid. Just to be %100. Cus..It grows insane. Amber Alert 4n Blackjack x Romulan Grapefruit x pre98 Bubba x Sweeties Smells like sweet rotten trash. I have 2 Orange Creampops in the same tent so I'm not quite sure. But it's nasty on stem rub! Week 4 of flower so let's see how it finishes. I got it from a usda growmie, but there breed by Richard Philbrook. He consulated with humboldt to make there line. There are quite a few cultivar's coming down the lines. Also other companies. So it's kinda like the begins of Auto's. Not so grand at start but pretty comparable now right? Just hopefully it starts normal and becuase crazy. Also wanted to add, Trigolene has pictures on their instagram of feilds of thousands of commercial plants. Acres and acres and acres. So clearly that's were it's at.
We just need a neurolink AI chip to insert inside the plant and read every detail. All in a grow box with access to everything the plant needs and corrects everything at every stage of growth.
My worrie for the future is government regulation and adding more than tax but the red tape that will strangle small companies and larger companies manipulation of law to harm smaller businesses ect Also wondering how the fda will add corn syrup to weed because we all know thats the fda side quest
did Humboldt also tell you that the banana we used to eat went extinct because they have no resistance to disease? they shady and arent even halfway to stabilizing a triploid cultivar
You three with your Outreach should start a new movement in the growing community... one in which the word hermaphrodite (a pejorative) is substituted with "intersex."
Non issue. Consumer expectations. It’s not something new in horticulture. Bananas are a great example, 1 clone, cultivar. Triploids are a pain, clones only, seeds are a joke. We select clones for testing, some are terrible, think flowering plants that seed , creating thousands of invasive plants. Non seeding is a blessing, but in this case the consumer expects something unreasonable, and also the seed company for misrepresenting the use of triploids. Agronomists are searching for a new cultivar of the banana, not plantains, plenty of those, so anyone outside of a breeder has no use for triploids, it’s not true breeding , by their very nature
I have no interest in doing what the commercial end of things are doing. I know what hard work and abundance is and appreciate the grind but dont wanna make a fun hobby suck by dabling around with the McDonald's and Walmart seeds of things. At least not at this point. Im not Jeff Bezos but big things start small.
My garden is bagseed no herms overe heere🎉🎉 bagseed mix from last year.. oreos bag seed male..go figure Good or bad I don't know I know they are all vogue
So you remember in highschool when you predicted what color you childrens eyes where gonna be ...you had 4 squares ? Same thing instead of two you have three....all it is is it the female sex has 3 chances out of four you have 3 instead of two ...
Stretch comes from assorted hormones 2nx4n=3n ..4n slow to start needs root room restrictions .any restriction causes herm .outdoor they just doo as they doo .indoor ya gotta think about what it is per dna not standard plant different times for different stuff ..larger containers wait for switch .better to let grow out harvest and reveg in.my oppion ..knowing age of original mom ..as per starting over .not veg time as cloned from.mom that would be 4 weeks +- already aged .clone goes hermi or insta flower .timing brother ...see differently ....triploids will benifit some one but im not saying wich 6 million people im talking about ........
Humbolt needs to stop screaming triploids to the workd until they have it pretty perfected and not seeing 85% herm rates (even tho i feel its higher bcuz EVERYONE i know who ran them got herms 🤦🏻🤦🏻
